Recomprehending the Heart-Sword

1/19/2026

The Chaos Immortal Force of the Da Luo Golden Immortal realm had undergone an earth-shaking transformation. At this moment, Evan Lin could sense traces of Immortal Spirit Liquid forming in his dantian—Immortal Essence condensed into liquid. He wasn’t sure if others experienced the same phenomenon after breaking through to Da Luo Golden Immortal.

Even in the Primordial Dragon’s inherited memories, there was no explanation for Immortal Spirit Liquid. In fact, much of the Ancestral Dragon’s legacy was far too profound for Evan to grasp. He only half-understood the Ninefold Divine-Dragon Metamorphosis—he knew it was similar to the Ninefold Golden Body Art, but with many differences. To unleash Divine-Dragon Metamorphosis, he’d need to transform into the Golden Dragon form, instantly multiplying his strength ninefold and conjuring nine divine dragon phantoms in the air.

Each of those dragon phantoms had attack power nearly equal to his true body—a truly heaven-defying technique. But to cultivate Ninefold Divine-Dragon Metamorphosis required Divine Power, a force that only appeared after ascending to the God Realm, much like how Immortal Essence only manifested after ascending to the Immortal Realm. Divine Power was an even higher-grade energy.

Evan didn’t want to waste brain cells puzzling over the Ancestral Dragon’s inheritance. Without enough strength, all those mysteries were just empty dreams. It was better to focus on practical growth—he’d push his realm toward late Da Luo Golden Immortal, or even break through to Ninth-Heaven Arch-Immortal. He knew that every higher realm meant even longer breakthroughs.

If not for the Timewheel Bracelet, he probably couldn’t have broken through at all. Back then, when mine owner Jin Haotian gave him five years to reach Da Luo Golden Immortal, it was a cosmic joke—no ordinary person could do it. Evan even suspected Jin Haotian had made a mistake, maybe he’d only meant for Evan to break through to Golden Immortal.

With about three hundred years of accelerated time left, Evan decided to cultivate the Fire Golden Body. The agony of soul-splitting was something he’d have to endure sooner or later—better to face it now than when his realm was even higher. Not wanting anyone to see him in such a wretched state, he flew straight to the secluded place where he’d forged the Earth Golden Body before.

Thanks to his experience with the Earth Golden Body, splitting his soul this time was a bit easier. The pain was still soul-crushing, but at least he handled it better than last time—he didn’t even faint.

Fire element rapidly enveloped the wisp of soul. This heaven-defying technique was truly strange—normally, fire was a wild, destructive force, yet it didn’t harm the soul strand at all. It was just like how the fire element within Evan’s body couldn’t hurt him.

Once the Fire Golden Body was complete, Evan spent nearly ten years mastering its control. When he returned, everyone was stunned—a second Evan, blazing with fire, had appeared out of nowhere. Everyone knew it was a clone, but no one expected his avatar to be so terrifying.

Serena Frost was the most shocked of all. She could clearly sense that Evan’s cultivation had already reached early Da Luo Golden Immortal. In just two hundred years since ascending, he’d reached this realm—she’d never seen anyone progress so insanely fast.

Evan knew Serena had doubts about him, but he ignored her. Right now, the only thing that mattered was getting stronger—he wouldn’t waste a single breath, not even indulging in intimacy with Roxanne Lin or responding to Macy Mei’s advances. Everything else could wait.

Cultivation devoured time faster than anything. Now, the Earth Golden Body could absorb Immortal Essence and train by itself. Evan taught it the first five forms of Sevenfold Absolute Cleave, boosting its attack power to about sixty percent of his own.

Next, he focused on training the Fire Golden Body until it could cultivate on its own. Breaking through to mid Da Luo Golden Immortal took him eighty years. The Fire Golden Body reached the original strength level of the Earth Golden Body, while the Earth Golden Body itself rose to late Heavenly Immortal.

Roxanne Lin and Macy Mei both broke through to early Golden Immortal. With Immortal Essence this dense, if you couldn’t reach Golden Immortal, you’d have to be an idiot.

Now that both the Earth and Fire Golden Bodies could cultivate autonomously, Evan threw himself into breaking through to late Da Luo Golden Immortal. This time, it took over a hundred and twenty years. His Chaos Immortal Force had fully transformed into Chaos Immortal Liquid—even when he activated Unicorn Arm, what surged into his arm was this liquid, and the power was unimaginable.

Evan had a gut feeling—if he faced an early or even mid-stage Ninth-Heaven Arch-Immortal, he could go toe-to-toe without getting seriously hurt. If his opponent’s domain was earth or fire, he could shatter it instantly, no need to bother resonating with the domain’s elemental particles.

With about a hundred years of accelerated time left, Evan knew breaking through to Ninth-Heaven Arch-Immortal was impossible—the higher the realm, the more time it cost. He wasn’t anxious, though. He had other things to handle. Compared to Immortal Realm experts, he still had two glaring weaknesses. He needed to fix them.

First, he lacked a proper magic treasure. His Frostbane Sword was actually a top-tier God-Realm artifact—if he could master its control, it would be a supreme law treasure. But he didn’t know the hand-seals or formulae for artifact control. The only way he could wield Frostbane Sword was with his Heart-Sword, so his priority now was to elevate the Heart-Sword to truly earth-shattering levels.

Then there was the issue of domains. Evan only half-understood the concept—plenty of experts had their own domains, but he couldn’t form one, which baffled him. He suspected the problem was his incomplete grasp of the space element and the link between elemental laws and the fabric of heaven and earth. If he figured it out, his domain would be truly terrifying.

He was deeply attuned to all seven elements and could instantly resonate with any of them. If he truly mastered domain, he might create a seven-layer space domain—just thinking about it was scary. And once he completed all nine turns of Ninefold Stellar Transformation, the light and darkness elements would become domain layers too. That would mean a nine-layer domain—almost no one in the world could escape from it.

It was a beautiful dream, but reality was cruel. Evan knew it would take a long time to achieve. If he ran into someone with a space domain, his only option was to break it as fast as possible—unless it was a light or darkness domain, which could actually threaten him. All other domains, he could ignore.

Pulling himself out of his runaway thoughts, Evan slowly quieted his heart. He began searching for that subtle, elusive feeling he’d had when he first comprehended the Heart-Sword… (Monthly votes and recommendations appreciated! Tips welcome!)
