Charles Yin shrugged, making a helpless face and a gesture that said he couldn't help. Cecilia Gu shot him a glare before turning to Rona Muir and said, "How about this, in a few days, Charles and I are heading to the South Pacific."
"What are you going there for? Why head out again when you just got back?" Rona Muir asked, confused.
"We picked up a little girl outside, and she's got some psychological issues. Charles said it's best to send her to Captain Hans for some correction. I think it makes sense, so we're planning to leave in a few days." Cecilia Gu said, "Since you're feeling down, why not come with me and have some fun? It'll help you relax. Living alone in your apartment must be boring!"
Rona Muir thought for a moment and actually liked the idea. "Alright, I think I'm in! So when are you guys leaving?"
"Probably in about two weeks," Cecilia Gu calculated. "Charles needs to set things up at the company first, then we'll get ready to go! We'll be gone for about a month, so you'll need to make arrangements on your end too."
Rona Muir replied right away, "No problem, I'll come find you guys then! Alright, I'll head back now and let you enjoy your sweet time together! Just thinking about my moody husband makes me feel awful! Enough complaining, I'm leaving!"
So, Rona Muir came in a whirlwind and left just as quickly.
In the yard, Sherry Yuan watched Rona Muir's energetic figure and couldn't help but be mesmerized.
That sister is so beautiful!
Yina Yin followed Sherry Yuan's gaze and grinned, "Sister Sherry, do you think godmother is amazing too?"
"She's your godmother?" Sherry Yuan asked instinctively.
"Yep! I actually have a bunch of godmothers!" Yina Yin replied. "They're super nice to me, and to Mommy too."
Sherry Yuan bit her lip, her eyes full of undisguised envy. "You're so lucky. So many people love you, and no one's forcing you to have kids!"
"What's having kids?" Yina Yin puffed out her chest. "I'm so handsome, obviously other girls should have kids for me!"
Sherry Yuan: "..."
In the distant attic, Ethan Yin was sprawled on the desk, doodling, while Miles Gu stood nearby, watching Sherry Yuan through binoculars.
"Miles, what do you think of Sherry Yuan? Is she really okay? Is it safe for Yina to play with her?" Ethan Yin asked, sounding very much like a big brother.
Miles Gu's beautiful red eyes flickered, then he said, "Hard to say. There's a kind of hidden hostility in her. I doubt she's totally normal. But... Yina isn't an ordinary girl either!"
"Should we think of a way to get rid of her?" Ethan Yin wiped his little nose and said mischievously, "Before Dad and Mom notice!"
"That won't work." Miles Gu said, clearly understanding Mommy well. "Mommy's soft-hearted. The more you bully her, the more Mommy will think she's pitiful!"
Ethan Yin said, deflated, "So what do we do? We can't just let this ticking time bomb stay around Yina, can we?"
Miles Gu blinked. "Ethan, I have a great idea! We can test Sherry Yuan and see if she has feelings for Yina."
Ethan Yin immediately leaned in. "Tell me!"
So the two kids huddled together, whispering their plan.
After their little chat, both of them flashed sly, knowing grins.
And just like that, the latest generation of little schemers was born.
Meanwhile, Sherry Yuan had no idea she was about to face a little challenge that would almost shatter her worldview again.
Sherry Yuan was just about to lie down and rest.
Every day she spent here felt so unreal, like living in paradise.
She couldn't help it—this place was just too beautiful, so much more stunning than the backward, isolated village she used to live in.
