Encountering the Ice Beasts

After Evan left the room, he didn’t go far. Instead, he flew up to the roof and sat down. The Netherworld’s environment was different from the Immortal Realm: here, there was no moon and no sun, only stars—and it seemed like there were even more stars in the Netherworld than in the Immortal Realm, which was a strange feeling.

Evan kept thinking about borrowing Stellar Power to boost his own strength. Right now, he only had a single Star Mark—the brightest star of the Big Dipper—and borrowing its Stellar Power came with heavy side effects.

He remembered that the rune he saw at Skyflight Terrace said that in a hundred thousand years, the Crimson Demon Star would appear. Whoever could borrow the Crimson Demon Star’s Stellar Power would become the strongest, and the world would descend into chaos.

The ancient War of the Gods was definitely triggered by the Crimson Demon Star. Evan knew he absolutely couldn’t borrow the Crimson Demon Star’s Stellar Power; his only option was to harness the Stellar Power of the Big Dipper. He believed that with the combined strength of all seven stars, he could stand against the Crimson Demon Star.

But right now, he was still far too unfamiliar with the Big Dipper and hadn’t found the true breakthrough point. These things needed time—and maybe after leaving the Netherworld, he’d finally have the chance to truly comprehend the Big Dipper.

Staring up at the starry sky, Evan unconsciously slipped into a selfless meditative state, as if he himself had become a star—the brightest star of the Big Dipper—with the other six stars resonating with him.

At the same time, a powerful formation appeared before him—the Big Dipper Seven-Star Array. But compared to the array once laid by the Emerald Immortal Empress, this one felt incomparably more terrifying; he sensed that stepping into it meant almost certain death.

But the formation was far too profound for him to unravel. Even though he was in meditation, his mind was clear: this Big Dipper Seven-Star Array was definitely linked to borrowing Stellar Power, and the ancient experts who created it must have been deeply connected to the power of the stars.

Maybe he should start from this angle—fully familiarize himself with the other six stars. Only by doing that could he truly resonate with them and condense six more Star Marks inside his body, allowing him to borrow Stellar Power on a large scale.

The idea was beautiful, but actually achieving it was unimaginably difficult. Without realizing it, Evan ended up sitting on the roof all night. By dawn, he felt he’d gained a lot—so much that when King Victor Zhao flew up to the roof to wake him, Evan snapped out of his meditation.

"Evan, what are you thinking about, sitting up here on the roof?" King Victor Zhao asked, his face full of curiosity.

"Nothing much. Are we all set? Then let’s head out!" Evan snapped out of his thoughts and answered right away.

The two of them dropped down from the roof and walked into the main hall. The Beast King was already waiting there, along with Princess Ivy and the Emerald Immortal Empress Jade. Chase and Princess Serene hadn’t shown up—probably worn out from their wedding night.

After giving Princess Ivy and Jade a few final instructions, Evan left Serene Nether City with King Victor Zhao and the Beast King. All three were apex-level powerhouses, so their flight speed was indescribably fast.

"How far is the Extreme Frostlands, and what kind of dangers should we expect? Let’s talk about it now so everyone can be prepared," Evan said.

"I’ve never been to the Extreme Frostlands myself. I’ve only heard it’s very dangerous—mostly things like Coldflame and blizzards, I guess," King Victor Zhao replied.

The Beast King laughed, "Blizzards? You wish! That’s not just any blizzard—it’s Glaze-Frost Snow, and the temperature is insanely low. If you get caught in it, you’ll be frozen into Mystic Ice. I’ve been to the Extreme Frostlands, but only to the outer region."

Back then, I went looking for a cold-attribute herb for alchemy and almost didn’t make it back. There are Beast Clan races there too, but not under my command—they’re the Ice Beast Clan. Some of them are made entirely of ice element, and their attack patterns are just bizarre.

Some have transparent bodies, while others hide in the snow—making them nearly impossible to guard against. And their strength is terrifying; some Ice Beasts are on par with me or King Victor Zhao. So everyone needs to be extremely careful.

As for the Heart of Frostflame you need, it’s said to be at the very center of the Extreme Frostlands. That’s just what I heard from an alchemist—we’ll have to verify it ourselves.

Evan and King Victor Zhao were both stunned. "That terrifying? Looks like leaving Chase, Ivy, and the others behind was definitely the right call. Once we get there, everyone just needs to stay alert. Normal snow and Coldflame don’t hurt me, so I’m pretty sure I can rampage through this ice world without any problem."

The other two stared at Evan in amazement. Every word out of his mouth was shocking—anyone with a weak heart would probably be scared half to death.

Even with the three of them flying at top speed, it still took seven days to reach the outer edge of the Extreme Frostlands. Evan couldn’t help but marvel—the Netherworld really was massive, almost as big as the Immortal Realm. Maybe the three of them hadn’t even crossed the whole thing yet, and who knew what lay beyond the Extreme Frostlands.

"Let’s take a break. After flying for days and nights, I’m sure we’ve burned a lot of energy. In a place like this, we need to be in peak condition—otherwise, if danger strikes, we’re in trouble," Evan said.

The three of them began to recover. Evan absorbed Immortal Crystals, while King Victor Zhao and the Beast King used Netherstones. After a day, all three were back to full strength, though by then they were buried under a thick layer of snow.

"Let’s go! Time to see just how dangerous this world of ice and snow really is!" Evan laughed, then flashed forward.

King Victor Zhao and the Beast King quickly followed. After half a day trekking through the frozen wilderness, Evan finally stopped—the temperature was so cold that even he could feel a trace of chill. He was sure King Victor Zhao and the Beast King were feeling it even more.

Of course, if he activated Watershift, he wouldn’t feel the cold at all. But it wasn’t necessary yet. Glancing at the other two, Evan chuckled, "How are you two frozen like that? Can you keep going?"

By now, King Victor Zhao and the Beast King were covered in thick Mystic Ice, their lips turning blue and their bodies shivering uncontrollably.

"Evan, why aren’t you frozen at all? These temperatures are truly inhuman—even for us at the demigod rank. It’s unbelievable," King Victor Zhao said.

None of the three were familiar with the area. If Xuanyuan Yueyan or the Emerald Immortal Empress Jade were here, they’d be astonished—the trio had unknowingly wandered into a Coldflame zone.

The Coldflame here was truly terrifying—far colder than the Ice-Spirit Fruit that had helped Evan break through to the third layer of Watershift. It was an extreme phenomenon, colder than anywhere in the Immortal Realm.

Just then, a rumbling sound echoed from the ground. Countless snowflakes whirled into the air, and Evan’s expression changed instantly. He shouted, "Careful, everyone—Ice Beasts!"
