"Get out of the car."

Evan Lin spoke calmly, noticing Yvonne Ding sitting frozen in the passenger seat. He frowned slightly.

"Uh... I forgot to bring any cash. Should I just transfer it to you with my phone?"

Yvonne fumbled with her phone, glancing awkwardly at Evan.

"No need."

Evan shook his head. He was never a black-market driver anyway, and he couldn't care less about a little money like this.

"Then... thanks."

Yvonne mumbled, reaching for the door handle to get out.

Out front, someone spotted Yvonne in the passenger seat. A green-haired thug led a group over, heading straight for the car.

Yvonne tried to open the door and step out.

But the green-haired guy slammed his hand against the door, pinning it shut.

He was way stronger than Yvonne. She couldn't budge the door at all.

"Yvonne, huh? Why aren't you home? This isn't the kind of place you should be tonight." The green-haired thug leered through the window, grinning at her.

His eyes roamed over Yvonne with blatant aggression, not even trying to hide it.

Even if Yvonne wasn't favored in the Ding family, she was still part of the Ding clan.

The Ding family was powerful in Leighton City. For now, all the green-haired guy could do was get an eyeful. But once Old Madam Ding kicked the bucket and Yvonne was completely isolated, he figured he might actually get a shot at her.

That thought made his grin even wider and nastier.

"I'm here to see Carter Cheng! Let me through!"

Yvonne shoved at the door with both hands, face turning red from the effort, but it wouldn't budge.

Out front, more than a dozen thugs with steel pipes lounged around the hood, half-circling the car.

"Young Master Cheng already said he doesn't want to see you, Yinnie. Save yourself the trouble and go home."

"Carter's with Ruby now, and he doesn't have time for you at all. You know his rules—tonight only couples get in. If you're by yourself, even if you get out of the car, you don't qualify to enter." The green-haired thug pressed against the door with one hand. "Don't make us do something you'll regret."

"No way! I want to see him! I don't believe he'd ever choose Ruby Ding over me!"

Yinnie's eyes were red with frustration.

"Wake up, Yinnie. You have no backing in the Ding family. If your grandma wasn't still alive, you'd have been kicked out ages ago."

"Carter only bothered with you before because he thought you might be useful, but the truth is, you have zero value. And Ryan Cao already said it—he's got no interest in you. Just let it go, pretend nothing ever happened, and everyone can move on."

"Besides, Carter's already decided on your sister, Ruby Ding. You don't have a shot anymore."

The green-haired thug grinned at Yinnie, who looked like she was about to burst into tears. He felt a twisted thrill inside.

"Hey, kid, you seriously don't get it, huh? You drove the car up here?" The green-haired thug turned to Evan in the driver's seat.

Earlier on the phone, Ryan Cao had already warned this black-car driver not to come here, but obviously, this young-looking driver hadn't listened.

"All for a little cash, huh? Is your life really worth so little? Get lost, now! If you drive forward even one more meter, I'll chop you up right here tonight!" The green-haired thug's face turned vicious as he yelled at Evan.

"Ha, does this black-car driver seriously not know who Carter Cheng is? Doesn't even listen to warnings?"

"Green Hair's pissed now, but even if he takes care of this kid tonight, Carter's got his back."

"Hey, kid, hurry up and back the car out! Get lost!"

Someone stomped on the hood, banging on it with an iron bar.

"I'm talking to you, are you deaf?" Green Hair shouted at Evan, face twisted with anger.

He barely finished speaking.

A cold glint flashed by.

A dagger appeared in his mouth—no one saw when it happened.

The razor-sharp blade sliced Green Hair's tongue clean in two, blood gushing from his mouth.
