Your Child Is Truly Blessed

Princess May's eyes reddened as she bowed deeply to Lily Evans and said, "Thank you, Sister, for your care. I've thought a lot these days. Here in the Kingdom of Jin, everything is unfamiliar—even with your attentive care, I can't help but feel homesick. My mission as a diplomatic princess is complete, and now that I've become a widow, I wish to ask you, Sister, to let me return to my homeland in the Kingdom of Chu and live out the rest of my days in peace."

"You want to return to the Kingdom of Chu?" Lily Evans looked at Princess May.

Princess May nodded and said, "No matter how many good things there are in a foreign land, my homeland is always in my heart. Now I'm a widow, with no one to rely on and nothing holding me back. If I return to Chu, at least I'll be a respected widow who served as a diplomatic princess, someone who contributed to the country. The people of Chu will respect and treat me well. But here in Jin, I'm the wife of a traitorous prince. Even though the new emperor has pardoned me, I can't escape the ridicule and scorn of the masses. I don't even dare to leave the house now—because of Prince Ling's rebellion, people wish they could kill me too."

As Princess May spoke, she began to cry. "Sister, I truly can't stay in the Kingdom of Jin any longer. Please, have mercy and allow me to return to Chu to live out my days as a widow in peace!"

Princess May wept bitterly, and Lily Evans found her words quite reasonable.

The royal edict to the public stated that Prince Ling had rebelled, committing regicide and patricide—these were grave crimes, utterly disgraceful.

Prince Ling was condemned for all eternity, and as his consort, Princess May was inevitably implicated as well.

Although Princess May was pardoned for her meritorious warning and allowed to keep her title and status, in Jin, the title of Princess Ling Consort had become as reviled as a rat crossing the street—everyone wanted to strike her down.

Princess May couldn't even live a normal life outside the manor. Whenever her carriage left the gates, crowds would gather to gawk and pelt her with rotten eggs and vegetables.

Lily Evans was well aware of Princess May's current predicament.

It could be said that the Prince of Qin’s Manor was able to receive early warning largely thanks to Princess May rushing to deliver the message, thus saving them from disaster.

Princess May is considered a benefactor of the Prince of Qin’s Manor, yet because of them, she became both a widow and a public enemy. Now, seeing Princess May in tears begging Lily Evans, Lily truly couldn’t refuse her request.

However, Lily Evans needed to consult Alexander Hayes about this matter, so she asked Princess May to wait a moment and went to find him.

Princess May sat inside, waiting for Lily Evans. Belle, heavily pregnant, stayed seated beside her, chatting to keep her company.

Princess May’s eyes were red. She didn’t say much to Belle, spending most of her time staring blankly at Belle’s swollen belly.

Belle noticed Princess May gazing at her belly and, feeling a bit embarrassed, gently touched her stomach.

Suddenly, Princess May asked, "Belle, your belly looks like you’re about to give birth soon, isn’t it?"

Belle smiled happily and nodded, "Just a couple more days. Our Princess Consort is so nervous, she insists I stay by her side and won’t let me go anywhere, afraid something might happen to me!"

Princess May’s eyes flickered. She said, "Princess Consort really cares about you. And… what about your husband?"

"My husband? He’s right here in the manor. He refuses to leave these days, says he wants to be with me for the birth—he’s so eager to be a dad!" Belle’s face glowed with happiness.

Princess May bit her lip, unconsciously placed her hand on her own belly, clenched her fist, and steadied her voice. "Belle, your child is so lucky—born with a father’s love, a mother’s care, and so many people doting on him…"

Unlike her own child, who hadn’t even been born before his father was killed.

Belle smiled shyly, feeling thirsty after talking so much, and noticed her teacup was empty. She stood up to pour herself some water.

Princess May stopped her, saying, "Belle, you’re heavily pregnant, better not move around. Let me get the water for you."
