Making Amends

At the Prince of Qin's residence, Alexander Hayes frowned as soon as he heard the eunuch's message from the palace.

Alexander Hayes wished nothing more than to kill Gregory Gu Jr. for his actions. Now that he had escaped, he had become a major threat.

Gregory Gu Jr. was extremely cunning and capable in statecraft, but also ruthless. If he wasn't eliminated now, and given the chance to rise again, he would surely seek revenge against Lily Evans and Alexander Hayes.

"Guards! Search the capital and its outskirts for the fugitive Gregory Gu Jr.!" Alexander Hayes ordered decisively.

At this moment, Lily Evans was sitting comfortably indoors with a book in her hand, chatting idly with Belle by her side.

Belle was due to give birth any day now. Lily Evans, worried that something might go wrong during the delivery, had kept Belle close these past few days, already preparing the midwife and notifying the Lin family to ensure Belle could give birth safely.

While they were chatting, a young maid came in and reported to Lily Evans, "Your Highness, there is a female guest seeking an audience. She is wearing a bamboo hat and a veil. She claims to be the sister you recognized and says she has no one else to rely on."

Lily Evans and Belle exchanged a glance. Belle asked, "Who could it be?"

Lily Evans thought for a moment, then said to the maid, "Bring her in."

The maid left and soon returned, leading a woman inside.

The woman was dressed all in white, even her veil was white, and she stood there looking utterly sorrowful.

"Princess Lily Hayes..." The woman removed her veil, revealing a face full of worry and dark circles under her eyes, clearly from many sleepless nights.

"Princess Ling Consort! Please, have a seat!" Lily Evans was startled to see Princess May (Zhao Mingting) before her.

Compared to her last visit when she came to deliver a warning, Princess May had grown noticeably thinner and looked utterly haggard.

Seeing Princess May in such a state, Lily Evans was filled with guilt.

After all, Princess May had kindly come to warn her, but Lily's own husband had killed Princess May's husband, leaving her a widow.

Princess May sat down, wiped her eyes, and said, "Princess Lily Hayes, I don't blame you for what happened to my husband. If anyone is to blame, it's him for crossing the Prince of Qin's residence."

Princess May's words left Lily Evans speechless.

Lily Evans had expected Princess May to be full of resentment, but instead, Princess May only wept in sadness, without a single word of blame, making Lily feel even more guilty.

"My dear sister, you've suffered so much. Don't worry, from now on, I won't let you be wronged. In the capital, no one will dare bully you. Whatever you need, whatever you lack, I will give you the best and make it up to you," Lily Evans promised.

Tears fell from Princess May's eyes again as she said pitifully, "Thank you, sister. In fact, now that Prince Ling is gone, I actually feel a sense of relief. He never cared for me, was always cold, and often hurt me with harsh words and blows. I was in utter despair, wondering if I had to endure such a husband all my life. When I learned he died, I was honestly happy. Princess Lily Hayes, is it wrong for me to feel this way?"

Listening to Princess May, Lily Evans saw true relief on her face and replied, "Now you can live the life you want. Whether you want to enjoy your days at home, study, or start a business, I'll support you."
