Want to Know Where I Truly Come From
After Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu and her father left, Grace turned to her mother and asked, "Mom, how come you're so close with Abbot William Wise? He actually rode a giant eagle all the way back just for you?"
Lena replied, "It's nothing special. Back then, I wasn't sick yet. I went to the temple to offer incense, and that's when I met Abbot William Wise."
"Huh?" Grace looked at her suspiciously. "That's all?"
"Yep! We really hit it off—we're like kindred spirits!" Lena said. "I know he and his disciples usually use flying beasts to send messages, and I know he has a flying spirit beast. So even though I knew he was out traveling, I figured he'd make it back."
This just doesn't make sense!
Could it be that old Abbot Wise has feelings for Mom?
Otherwise, why would he go out of his way to rush back from so far away?
It's not even that big of a deal!
"What are you thinking about in that little head of yours? Your eyes are darting all over!" Lena teased, smiling.
"Nothing..." Grace definitely didn't dare say it out loud. "By the way, Mom, do you remember anything from before Dad rescued you?"
Lena shook her head. "I don't remember anything at all."
"Do you have any thoughts about where you come from? Have you ever considered searching for your parents?"
Lena shook her head. "The world is so big, and I can't remember anything. Where would I even begin to look?"
"Oh..."
"Why did you suddenly ask about this?"
"I just... suddenly thought of it," Grace said.
Lena gazed out the window, looking rather wistful. "Actually, sometimes I really want to know where I truly come from... If only there were a Spiritual Alchemist who could cure my amnesia."
Grace glanced at her mother.
Actually, judging by her pulse, there was nothing wrong with her mother's brain.
Her amnesia probably wasn't caused by any physical injury to the head...
Could it be that her mother really is the person Evan Xiao and the others are searching for?
...
Grace had always been diligent about her cultivation.
Now that she had reached the fifth tier, she needed a lot of elixirs to improve her cultivation.
She already had plenty of elixirs on hand.
But refining those elixirs required a ton of spiritual energy.
Spiritual energy was scarce in the Blue Moon Kingdom, making it especially hard to refine elixirs here.
In her previous life, she cultivated in the Vermilion Kingdom.
She never had this problem back then.
But now, she was starting to feel stuck—like she'd hit a bottleneck.
She had to break through this bottleneck.
Otherwise, staying stuck for too long would be bad for her cultivation.
So, for the next few days, Grace went into seclusion.
She secluded herself inside her Sanctum.
Inside, spiritual energy was abundant. She could refine her elixirs and break through her bottleneck.
But even as she cultivated, her heart was bleeding.
Because the spiritual energy in her Sanctum wasn't endless—it was limited.
Every time she used a little, there was a little less.
In her previous life, she hardly dared to use any at all.
She wanted to save it for alchemy.
Refining pills also required a ton of spiritual energy...
...
Time flew by, and Grace finally broke through her bottleneck, reaching a relatively stable level of cultivation.
Early one morning, someone came rushing to find Grace.
It was Princess Xinyao's personal maid. As soon as she saw Grace, she motioned for the other servants to leave.
"What's wrong?" Grace asked.
"The princess is in trouble!" the maid said.
"What happened?" Grace's heart skipped a beat.
"She snuck off to Moonwater Abbey! She says she wants to become a nun!"
"Become a nun?" Grace yelped. "Why would she do that out of the blue?"
"I have no idea!" the maid said. "But I think it must have something to do with what happened yesterday. That's why I came to you!"
