Biting the Dragon Scale

"Finally dropping the act?" Grace asked.

"Ha!" Snow Wan sneered. "That's right! I stole your Spirit Root, and I was the one who poisoned that bitch Lena! So what?"

She grinned smugly. "Snow Wan, I've got a Protective Talisman on me. You can't kill me!"

"Is that so?" Grace replied calmly, staring her down.

She tried to enter her Sanctum.

She could grab poison, hidden weapons—she had plenty of ways to kill her!

But to her horror, even though her mind could enter the Sanctum, her body wouldn't budge.

The Sanctum Tower was right there, but she couldn't reach it!

"Now you've been wounded by my Protective Talisman. All your spiritual channels are paralyzed, and you can't use your powers. How does it feel? Not bad, huh?" Snow Wan said with a sly smile.

"Snow Wan, who the hell are you?" Grace demanded. "How do you know those ancient clan techniques? And where did you get such a powerful Protective Talisman?"

"Heh, you want to know?"

"I do. Before I die, at least tell me, will you?" Grace slowly reached for the pendant on her chest and put it in her mouth, biting it playfully.

She knew Snow Wan would definitely kill her.

Because she'd uncovered Snow Wan's secret.

Now, with her spiritual channels paralyzed, the only things she could move were her left hand and her mouth.

So she put the Dragon Scale in her mouth and bit down hard.

Evan Xiao once said that the Dragon had enchanted the scale—just bite it, and the Dragon, Evan Xiao, and Cutie Pie would all sense it.

Who knew if it would actually work.

......

"Fine! I'll tell you," Snow Wan raised her brow. "But first, you tell me—what's up with your Spirit Root?" Snow Wan just couldn't figure it out. "I dug out your Spirit Root myself, so how did it grow back?"

"That's because... I took a special pill," Grace said. "A Rebirth Pill for Spirit Roots."

"Oh? There's actually a pill like that in this world?"

"Of course! You're just clueless, that's all." Actually, Grace herself didn't know why sleeping with Evan Xiao would restore her Spirit Root.

Snow Wan pondered for a moment, then nodded. "I guess you're right. Maybe I'm just too ignorant."

"Your turn. Who are you, really?" Grace pressed.

Snow Wan smirked, reached under her pillow, and pulled out a dagger, waving it in front of Grace. "Who am I? That's a secret! If you want to know, maybe you should ask King Yama in the underworld!"

As she spoke, her eyes flashed coldly, and she suddenly stabbed the dagger at Grace's heart.

Just as Grace expected, tonight, Snow Wan wasn't going to let her leave alive.

Bang!

The dagger snapped in half.

A shadowy black figure materialized, shielding Grace.

It was the Antler Serpent!

Grace's lips curled into a faint smile.

Evan Xiao was actually right!

When she bit the Dragon Scale, they could sense she was in danger.

Cutie Pie, who'd been hibernating nearby, came out!

He coiled around Grace, and a cool aura seeped from his body into hers. Grace felt her spiritual channels slowly coming back to life.

"That beast again!" Snow Wan snarled, seeing the Antler Serpent. Old grudges mixed with new rage. "If I don't kill it and make soup tonight, I'll write my name backwards!"

She tried to grab it with her bare hands.

A faint white glow shimmered on her hand—

It was Rune Light.
