The carriage soared through the air, carrying three people inside while a guard controlled it from outside. Whether intentionally or not, the guard kept glancing at Evan Yang.
Looks like nothing good is waiting for me this time, Evan Yang muttered to himself.
At that moment, Lynn Lin's master took out two pills and said to them, "Here are today's antidotes. Lynn, you take yours first."
Lynn Lin responded with an 'Oh,' swallowed her pill, and then her master held the other pill out to Evan Yang, asking, "Do you want it?"
Evan Yang smiled, "Senior, what do you mean by this?"
"It's simple. Once we reach Wood Imperial City, you'll do everything I say. Otherwise, even if you get today's pill, tomorrow you won't," Lynn Lin's master said with a smile.
Lynn Lin spoke up, "Master, I've already said he's my personal bodyguard."
"So what?" Lynn Lin's master replied.
"Since he's my bodyguard, I decide whether he lives or dies. What are you trying to do now? Are you really going to force me to choose death over agreeing to this marriage?" Lynn Lin said angrily after hearing her master.
Lynn Lin's master smiled, "Lynn, I'm just telling him to behave. I didn't say anything else. Why are you so nervous?"
"How am I supposed to know what you mean?" Ever since Lynn Lin discovered her master was colluding with people from Wood Imperial City, she's secretly hated her master and wished she never had one.
Seeing Lynn Lin's attitude, her master felt a bit hurt, but she had no choice. No matter what, she had to make sure Lynn Lin entered Wood Imperial City smoothly. So she smiled, "I mean what I say. As long as he behaves, I won't trouble him." She handed the pill to Evan Yang.
Evan Yang took the pill. Honestly, he didn't need the antidote at all—his Heaven‑Cold Seed had already purified yesterday's poison. This so-called antidote was just extra nourishment. He swallowed it and smiled, "I'll behave."
"That's more like it." Lynn Lin's master smiled when she saw Evan Yang obey. She had no idea Evan already considered her a shameless villain in his heart, planning to settle accounts once the poison was cleared.
Seeing that nothing else happened, Lynn Lin relaxed. Then she heard lively sounds outside. The guard said, "We've arrived outside Wood Imperial City. Flying artifacts aren't allowed within city airspace, so please follow me into the city."
"Alright, thank you," Lynn Lin's master said, then got out of the carriage. Evan Yang and Lynn Lin followed.
After Evan Yang stepped down, he scanned the imperial capital. It was truly vast. City walls surrounded the area, with patrol squads spaced at intervals. At the base of the walls, many identical-colored towers stood.
Curious, Evan Yang asked, "What are those towers?"
"They're Wood Family defense towers. Each tower has a hundred cultivators, one captain, and an Immortal Sovereign leading the team. Including the towers inside and outside the walls, there are thirty in total," Lynn Lin explained.
Evan Yang was secretly shocked. He hadn't expected Wood Imperial City alone to have at least thirty Immortal Sovereigns just for defense. That was impressive—and made him realize Immortal Sovereigns were really common here.
"Stop making a fuss. Hurry up and move," Lynn Lin's master urged, worried they'd be late. She shot Evan Yang a glare as she spoke.
Evan Yang just smiled. "Alright, let's go."
Lynn Lin sent Evan Yang a voice transmission: "Ignore her. She's always like this. Honestly, I have no idea why I ever became her disciple."
"When did you join Southspirit Palace?" Evan Yang asked curiously via voice transmission.
"When I was a kid, I guess. It's been tens of thousands of years," Lynn Lin replied.
Evan Yang, surprised by her answer, asked, "You really hate your master that much?"
"Of course. She's been strict with me since I was little, never letting me leave. Just recently, she sent me to Wood Imperial City to buy things. I thought I'd finally get to explore, but then I ran into that damned prince. Who knows how my master got involved with him?" Lynn Lin grumbled via voice transmission.
"You think your master and that prince were colluding from the start?" Evan Yang asked, curious. He'd assumed the prince met Lynn Lin first, but now it sounded like that wasn't the case.
"Exactly. I think my master took me in just so she could eventually send me to that damned prince," Lynn Lin said, frustrated.
After hearing all this, Evan Yang felt the woman was far from simple. Lynn Lin was like a chess piece, and her master had planned this for ages. Evan didn't say anything, wanting to see what they'd do next while using the time to learn about Wood Imperial City and this world.
Soon, the three were led to a teleportation array inside the city. With a flash, Evan Yang and the others arrived at the estate's main gate. Seeing the estate, Evan couldn't help but marvel—it was as large as a main star domain he'd seen in the Yang Family.
Countless divine senses swept over the trio. Evan Yang felt them and thought to himself, "So many experts—interesting."
"These are the people the second prince requested," the guard told the gatekeepers. They nodded and let them in.
Inside, the guard led the three onward for nearly an hour. Evan Yang was annoyed—why not hurry up? It felt like they were sightseeing, walking at a normal person's pace.
Finally, they arrived at a garden filled with flowers and all kinds of servants. The guard said to Lynn Lin, "Miss Lin, this will be your future residence. And you too," he added to Evan Yang.
"The place is pretty nice. Got it," Lynn Lin said.
Evan Yang scanned the garden with his divine sense and noticed a formation overlaying it. If activated, everyone inside would be locked in. He also sensed plenty of powerful cultivators stationed nearby—Lynn Lin hadn't noticed, since they were all at least Emperor Realm level, far above her.

The guard smiled at Lynn Lin. "You two can go in and rest. The prince will come see you soon."
"What about my master?" Lynn Lin asked.
"She has her own arrangements. You two go inside," the guard said. Lynn Lin led Evan Yang in, while the guard escorted Lynn Lin's master away.
As soon as Evan Yang and Lynn Lin entered, all the servants stopped what they were doing and respectfully greeted, "Welcome, Madam Lin."
"Madam Lin? Watch your mouths! Until I'm actually married, call me Miss Lin," Lynn Lin snapped, her face flushing red with anger.
The servants froze, surprised by her fiery temper, and quickly corrected themselves. Lynn Lin then announced, "Listen up! From now on, he's my personal bodyguard and your steward. Everyone here must follow his orders as if they're mine."
Hearing this, the fifty or sixty people present were confused. Why should they listen to someone so useless? Even the flower-tending maids were Immortal-body cultivators. How could someone so weak be in charge?
Though they were disgruntled, everyone agreed and responded.
It looked like they'd been disciplined, but Evan Yang knew none of them really accepted it. He'd have to teach them a lesson later—he had plenty of ways to handle weaklings. Lynn Lin, seeing everyone comply, asked, "Alright, where's my room?"
"Please follow me," one of the servants said, stepping forward.
The servant then led Evan Yang and Lynn Lin to a room. Once inside, Lynn Lin told him, "You can go about your business. Unless I say otherwise, no one is allowed near this room."
"Understood," the servant replied and left, passing the word to the other servants. They wondered how the new Madam Lin could be so familiar with another man and live under the same roof. It felt inappropriate, but they could only keep busy outside.
Inside the room, Evan Yang laughed, "Not bad—it’s like a palace in here."
Seeing the interior, Lynn Lin was stunned. She hadn't expected it to be like a palace, with everything imaginable. But she quickly regained her composure and said, "Even if you gave it all to me, I wouldn't want it."
"What, not tempted?" Evan Yang laughed.
"Of course not. You think material things will move me? No way. Besides, I can't wait to leave this place. But the garden is guarded by experts. I need to get familiar with the area and then figure out how to escape," Lynn Lin said.
"Smart move," Evan Yang said with a smile.
"Obviously. And let me remind you, every servant here is an Immortal-body cultivator. You'd better stick close to me, or you'll get bullied," Lynn Lin warned.
"Got it," Evan Yang replied with a smile.
The two of them rummaged around the palace-like room, not caring since nothing belonged to them. After a while, a voice called from outside, "Sister Lynn, can I come in?"
"Ugh, that damned prince again," Lynn Lin exclaimed.
Evan Yang raised an eyebrow. So he came this quickly? Seems news travels fast here.
Lynn Lin quickly motioned for Evan Yang to stop what he was doing, then said, "You can come in."
Prince Adrian Wood pushed the door open and, seeing the mess inside, raised an eyebrow. "What are you two doing?"
"Oh, since this is going to be my residence, I wanted to arrange it to my liking. I'll tidy up later," Lynn Lin said with a smile.
Prince Adrian Wood cursed inwardly—this was 'arranging'? It looked worse than a street vendor's stall. But he held back and smiled, "It's your first day here, so rest well. In a few days, I'll arrange our affairs with the estate."
"Go on, don't bother us," Lynn Lin said.
Prince Adrian Wood paused, unsure what to say. Then, seeing Evan Yang nearby, he smiled, "This personal bodyguard of yours should at least get a proper set of armor."
