Insufficient Medicinal Strength

“So the Nascent Soul really has such benefits!” Evan Yang exclaimed with a smile after understanding.

“Of course. Once you cultivate your Nascent Soul, you'll naturally understand what I mean.” Old Clam nodded.

“Alright, let’s go see what those people are up to. If they dare to threaten my friends, I won’t let it slide!” Evan Yang nodded and sneered coldly.

Evan Yang walked out of the inn, imitating Forden Wayne’s gait step by step as he headed toward the Bai Family’s inn.

Several Bai Family disciples who had been resting in the inn saw Forden Wayne return and greeted him with a smile, “Brother Wayne, didn’t you go to the gambling house?”

Evan Yang was momentarily stunned, then smiled and replied, “Yeah, I went yesterday. Today I’m a bit tired, so I came back to rest.” Under everyone’s gaze, he left the group and continued walking deeper into the inn.

“What’s he up to? Isn’t his room upstairs on this side?” The inn had two staircases leading to different rooms, and the group was puzzled when they saw Forden Wayne taking the other staircase.

“Who knows, maybe he gambled himself stupid.” Another person shook his head and answered.

The group assumed that Forden Wayne, disguised as Evan Yang, had lost at the gambling house and absent-mindedly took the wrong staircase, so they just stood there chatting without reminding him.

“There are four floors here, but I still can’t sense Tara Chu’s aura anywhere.” Evan Yang walked from the first to the fourth floor and found only other people’s auras; helplessly, he looked down from the fourth floor and sighed.

Just as Evan Yang finished muttering, he saw Rockwell Nance walk out of a room on the third floor across from him.

“So that’s where he is!” Evan Yang muttered as he saw Rockwell Nance emerge from a room across the way.

As soon as Rockwell Nance left the inn, Evan Yang came downstairs and took the other hallway, passing by the group again. They glanced oddly at Forden Wayne, assumed he was just gambling foolishly, and ignored him.

Seeing that no one paid him any mind, Evan Yang didn’t bother either and continued upstairs, eventually reaching the third floor and strolling toward the room Rockwell Nance had just left.

Just a few steps from Rockwell Nance’s room, a nearby door suddenly opened, revealing a familiar figure. The person said, “Forden Wayne, didn’t you go to the gambling house?”

“Oh, Old Ghost Bai, I went yesterday. Today I just don’t feel like going.” Evan Yang imitated Forden Wayne’s tone as he replied.

“Not going? Then how are you supposed to gather intel on that brat?” The speaker was Old Ghost Bai, who sounded displeased.

Evan Yang cursed inwardly but kept smiling on the surface. “Uh, I’ll go later then.”

“Don’t slack off! You’d better hurry up and go!” Old Ghost Bai finished speaking and closed the door, leaving Evan Yang cursing under his breath, “Damn you, Old Ghost Bai!”

After calming himself, Evan Yang continued toward Rockwell Nance’s room, silently praying that Rockwell wouldn’t return. If he ran into two Core-Breaching stage experts, things could get tricky.

Evan Yang walked up to the room, slowly pushed the door open, and went inside. But there was no sign of Tara Chu. “Strange, wasn’t she supposed to be taken away by him?”

Finding nothing in the room but some of Rockwell Nance’s personal belongings, Evan Yang had no choice but to leave and head downstairs. Seeing the group looking at him again, Evan Yang thought for a moment and smiled, “Do any of you know where City Lord Nance went?”

“Kid, you should know better than us.” These were all Bai Family members, not Nance’s people, so someone retorted.

Evan Yang replied helplessly, “I just got back, so I don’t know where he went.”

“Did you gamble yourself stupid? You went the wrong way earlier—otherwise, you’d have run into him. Now City Lord Nance has already left, but where he went, I have no idea.” someone said.

Seeing that no one knew, Evan Yang had to leave the inn. “So many people out on the street—how am I supposed to find Rockwell Nance?”

“Forden Wayne, why are you standing here?” Suddenly a voice called out—it was none other than Rockwell Nance.

Evan Yang quickly steadied himself. “City Lord, I just got back.”

“Really? I thought you were at the gambling house—I was just about to go find you.” Rockwell Nance didn’t know Forden Wayne was actually Evan Yang in disguise, so he spoke to his subordinate in a familiar tone.

“Heh.” Evan Yang didn’t know what to say, so he just gave an awkward laugh.
