Looking for a Solution

1/4/2026

The next morning, as the sun rose high, Cherry Miller finally stretched and got out of bed.

As soon as she walked out, she saw Sean Kerr and Sam Shang driving back, their clothes damp with dew, clearly having left early.

"Morning, Uncle Sean, Sam." Cherry yawned. "I finally slept off my exhaustion! After ten straight days of meetings, I feel like I've been cooked through!"

"Morning." Sean Kerr smiled and handed Cherry a thermos. "Just made some fresh milk. Have a sip."

Cherry took it and gulped down a few mouthfuls, giving Sean a thumbs up. "Delicious."

Sean noticed how Cherry didn't have any of the airs of a rich girl, and genuinely liked such a down-to-earth young lady. He said, "No farm today. I'm taking you all to the town for a stroll."

Sam quickly waved his hand. "I'll pass. Mr. Quinn is still in town."

Sean glanced at Sam. "Look at you, so timid."

Cherry laughed and said, "It's better to lay low until things are settled. No matter what, the old lady raised Sam, and family knows their own business best. Outsiders might say all sorts of things. Sam's still young—he shouldn't have to bear too much negative press. It could affect his future. So, I'll go with Uncle Sean instead."

Sean looked at Cherry with admiration. What a clever girl, he thought.

Her gaze was already so piercing.

Charles Yin is truly blessed!

With a daughter-in-law like her, the Yin family will thrive for three generations!

Sean smiled and asked, "So, what do you think I should do?"

"Go home and inherit the Shang family," Cherry said firmly. "Only if you become the head of the family can you protect Sam. The old lady is your mother—there's no lasting grudge. Give her a way out and she'll take it. Normally, I shouldn't comment on family matters, but I truly see Sam as my own brother. Sam, Ziyue, Moyu, Moshou, Yuzhen, and Yunchen are all softer than Shaohuai. I'm not worried about Shaohuai, but I do worry about these brothers, especially Sam. He grew up without a father's protection or a mother's guidance. He's especially pitiful."

Sean's smile faded. "But I already gave up my right to inherit."

"Yes, you announced you'd given up your inheritance, but who says you're going back to inherit the Shang family? You're being hired by Sam to manage the family!" Cherry grinned mischievously.

Sean was taken aback, then burst out laughing. "You little rascal!"

"That's a minor detail—the elders all want you to come back and take charge. Years ago, the Yin and Shang families were evenly matched, but now? The Shang family can't even manage its own affairs, let alone expand. The Yin family already controls territory in several provinces, while the Shang family is stuck in a corner. Are you really content with that? Uncle Sean, you're only in your fifties—this is your prime!" Cherry's knack for persuasion was as strong as ever, and she unknowingly used it on Sean as well.

"With your protection, not even the old lady could control Sam's marriage. And those troublemakers wouldn't stand a chance against your sharp eyes. In ten years, Sam will be ready to take over. Then you can retire or keep working as you wish. The family will be safe, Sam's marriage will be secure, and his future will be bright. Why not do it? I've heard the old lady's behavior has gotten worse lately, but isn't that because some clown has been stirring things up?" Cherry looked at Sean.

By now, they'd reached town and parked the car while chatting.

Just as they were talking, the troublemaker really showed up.

"Sir, have you made up your mind yet..." Mr. Quinn rushed over to stop Sean's car, but when he saw Cherry in the passenger seat, he was stunned. "Ms. Miller?"

"Mr. Quinn, it's been a while." Cherry got out of the car and nodded to him.

Mr. Quinn instinctively swallowed.

Cherry Miller is known for her toughness among the assistants.

No one in the new generation can compare.

Even if Mr. Quinn was secretly dissatisfied, he wouldn't dare raise his voice to Cherry Miller.

"Ms. Miller, what brings you here?" Mr. Quinn asked instinctively.

Cherry smiled and said, "I'm here to discuss something with Uncle Sean, on behalf of our chairman."

Mr. Quinn nodded knowingly.

Makes sense.

Nowadays, Cherry Miller is practically the most prominent figure in the Yin Corporation.

Officially she's just an executive assistant, but in reality, she's the spokesperson for the Yin Corporation.

Her achievements in Six Saints Town are now widely known.

Everyone knows Cherry Miller is highly praised by the top leaders and has more honors than anyone else. She's an important figure recognized by countless leaders.

Thanks to Cherry Miller, the Yin Corporation's image is stellar and impressive.

Cherry Miller is almost a symbol of the Yin Corporation now.

So she's truly qualified to represent Charles Yin or Cecilia Gu at any event or decision.

"Sir, about Sam's situation..." Mr. Quinn had been living in town for days and was at his wit's end.

If he didn't bring Sam back soon, the old lady would skin him alive.

Sean frowned. "I've already told you, Sam isn't with me..."

"Sir, that's not right. You're a member of the Shang family—how can you keep doing things that hurt the family?" Mr. Quinn was getting desperate.

Cherry stood aside, saying nothing.

After all, she's an outsider to the Shang family and it's not her place to intervene.

She understood where to draw the line.

Sean said, "Go back and tell the old lady that I'll handle Sam's marriage. She's worked hard her whole life—it's time to rest."

Mr. Quinn looked as if he'd heard the biggest joke ever. "W-what?"

What did Sean mean by that?

Hadn't he already given up his inheritance?

Was he coming back?

Sean said calmly, "Go tell the old lady I've been away long enough—I'm planning to come home."

Then Sean turned to Cherry with a gentle smile, "Let's go, I'll take you to buy some local specialties to bring back for Charles and Cecilia."

"Sure, Uncle Sean." Cherry replied with a bright smile.

It seemed her persuasion had worked.

Mr. Quinn watched Sean and Cherry leave, stunned for a long time before rushing off to call the matriarch.

Finding Sam seemed less important now than Sean's return to China.

On the way back, Sean said to Cherry, "You're young, but you understand a lot. Actually, there's something I haven't told you."

"Hmm?" Cherry tilted her head and looked at Sean.

Sean chuckled, "I may have given up my inheritance, but I still hold stock in the Shang Corporation. So even if I'm not the CEO, I'm still one of the major shareholders. I still have decision-making power!"

Cherry's eyes lit up.

She gave Sean a thumbs up. "Uncle Sean, you're cunning!"

They both smiled at each other.

Cherry had easily persuaded Sean to return to China, successfully completing one of Charles Yin's tasks.

Yes, Charles Yin had specifically tasked her with getting Sean to return.
