Lisa Li Missing

1/4/2026

Lisa Li, who had always been spoiled and willful, finally realized what was happening.

How could Max Mo's people just happen to be waiting for her at the station entrance?

Max Mo's people wouldn't just wait outside the station—they would go inside to find her.

What does that mean?

They didn't dare to go inside; they could only wait at the station entrance, hoping she'd walk right into their trap.

And she really did stupidly rush straight toward them.

Thinking of this, Lisa Li grew even more frantic. "Who are you people? Stop the car, stop the car, let me out!"

"Miss Lisa Li," the person beside her said with a sinister smile, "Since you're here, you might as well stay put. If you resist too much and something bad happens, don't blame me."

Lisa Li shrank into her seat, terrified, tears streaming down her face. She pleaded, "Who are you? What do you want? Is it money? I'll give it to you! Max Mo just gave me some spending money—I’ll give it all to you, okay? Please let me go! I don’t know anything, I won’t tell anyone, just let me go and I’ll do whatever you say."

The group chuckled coldly, their eyes growing even more menacing.

She knew she had been kidnapped, but she had no idea what her captors wanted.

If it was money they were after, Max Mo would definitely pay.

But what if that wasn’t what they wanted?

Lisa Li’s anxiety grew worse by the second.

She was racking her brain, desperate to figure out why.

It had to be said—Lisa Li was right on the mark.

They weren’t after money—they were after Lisa Li herself.

An hour after Lisa Li was kidnapped, Max Mo finally got the news.

“Mr. Mo, Lisa Li is missing.” The person secretly protecting Lisa Li finally reported in, his voice tinged with panic: “Lisa Li deliberately avoided us, wouldn’t let us follow her. She climbed out of the women’s restroom window. After waiting for more than half an hour, we went in to search and were told she’d escaped earlier. We searched everywhere but couldn’t find any trace. We just checked the surveillance footage: Lisa Li got into a white sedan with license plate S530xd. We tracked the nearby cameras and found the car disappeared at the urban-rural junction.”

Max Mo’s heart sank.

Lisa Li was in trouble!

The kidnappers were clearly pros—their moves were practiced and ruthless.

Why couldn’t Lisa Li just behave for once?

The people I sent were all there to protect her.

But she kept dodging them, playing cat and mouse, making things way harder than they needed to be.

And now, look where it got her.

“Find her.” Max Mo ordered coldly. “No matter what, bring Lisa Li back.”

“Yes, sir.” The team sprang into action, launching a full-scale search. There was no way they’d let anything happen to Lisa Li.

Xue Xue came over with afternoon tea, setting it on the side table. “What’s going on with Lisa Li?” she asked.

“She’s been kidnapped.” Max Mo stared at Xue Xue, searching her face for any clue.

But Xue Xue’s face was all shock and disbelief. “Kidnapped? How? Didn’t you have people protecting her? Who are the kidnappers? Have they asked for ransom? Should we call the police?”

Max Mo looked away and said, “Don’t call the police yet. They haven’t asked for ransom. Let’s wait and see how they move.”

If even my people can’t find her, calling the police won’t help.

Xue Xue looked worried. “What should we do? I don’t know many people who are good at rescue work. Maybe I should ask Yu Jie if she has any ideas.”

“No need.” Max Mo’s expression was unreadable.

Xue Xue blinked quickly, testing the waters: “So what do we do now?”

“Wait.” Max Mo closed his eyes briefly. “Wait for them to contact us.”

Xue Xue seemed to relax a little, then complained, “Lisa Li’s not a kid anymore. Why does she keep playing hide and seek with the bodyguards? They’re just trying to keep her safe, but she always lets you down. I don’t know what’s going to happen this time. I’m really worried.”

Max Mo’s lips twitched.

If Xixi were here, she’d never say something like that.

After all, she wasn’t Xixi.

Xue Xue didn’t seem to notice Max Mo’s mood, and just kept talking: “When she was little, it was just a game—playing hide and seek with the bodyguards. But now she’s grown, graduated college, and still acts like a child. You treat her like one, but she isn’t anymore. She should know better…”

“Enough.” Max Mo interrupted Xue Xue. “You should go.”

Xue Xue’s face darkened for a moment, but she quickly pretended nothing happened and stood up with a smile. “Don’t forget to eat these snacks—they’re still warm.”

Max Mo didn’t respond, and Xue Xue left reluctantly.

Not long after Xue Xue left, Yu Jie arrived. “Mr. Mo, you wanted to see me?”

Seeing Yu Jie, Max Mo finally let a bit of exhaustion show. “Lisa Li’s missing.”

Yu Jie froze, then frowned. “Have the kidnappers contacted us? Do they want ransom, or something else? Are we sure it’s a real kidnapping, not some stunt?”

Max Mo was pleased with Yu Jie’s reaction.

Clearly, Yu Jie was thinking things through with a cool head.

With Lisa Li’s personality, it wouldn’t be the first time she staged something like this. She’d pulled plenty of stunts before.

She’d do anything for attention.

No wonder Max Mo was so tired of Lisa Li’s antics.

Fake illnesses, fake suicide attempts, fake kidnappings, fake injuries—she’d done it all. So when people heard Lisa Li was kidnapped, their first thought was: is she acting up again? Is it just another trick?

Yu Jie added, “Lisa Li probably saw the posts online about you having dinner with Xue Xue. That’s why she reacted this way.”

Max Mo didn’t say yes or no.

Yu Jie continued, “Let’s hope she’s just putting on another act. Real kidnappings never end well. Mr. Mo, I’ll get a search team together now.”

“Alright.” Max Mo nodded.

He felt more at ease leaving it to Yu Jie.

Yu Jie was thoughtful and decisive.

If something really happened to Lisa Li, having Yu Jie around would help.

Unfortunately, neither of them realized things were already spiraling out of control—heading for an ending that couldn’t be undone.

After Lisa Li was knocked out, they tossed her in the back seat and drove into the mountains.

The forested hills were deep and steep, hardly anyone lived there anymore.

Most families had already moved out—some to the nearby town, some straight to the city for work.

Thousands of villages in China disappear every year.

This village was one of them.

During wartime, these villages were places for locals to hide.

But now, in peacetime, poor transportation made life here hard. Young people all wanted to leave.

Only a few elderly folks remained, just scraping by.

When they were gone, the village would vanish too.

Lisa Li woke up to find herself in this desolate place.

She looked up and saw a shabby hut made of stone and clay—no bed, just a thick layer of dry straw on the ground.

Near the door was a makeshift stove, covered in black soot—a relic of years gone by.

Lisa Li was stunned by what she saw.

She’d always lived in the city—she’d never seen such a rundown place before.

She’d been pampered all her life, and now she was lying on a pile of straw. She just couldn’t accept it.

“Somebody! Anybody! Where am I?” Lisa Li scrambled up, realizing her hands and feet were free. She rushed to the door and started banging on it.

But no matter how hard she tried, the lock was solid—there was no escape.

Lisa Li suddenly remembered news stories about traffickers—how they kidnapped girls like her and sold them to old men in the mountains, forcing them to have babies until they died.

Just thinking about it made Lisa Li feel sick.

“Brother Max, where are you? Please come save me! Somebody help! I don’t want to be here, I want to go home!” Lisa Li pounded the door, her voice sharp and hysterical. “Who are you people? I’ll give you money—I have money! Let me go and I’ll give you a million! My family can pay the ransom! Just let me go, I swear I won’t tell anyone!”
