Strange

"That's how it always goes in the books—when a talented scholar meets a beautiful lady, it's love at first sight. Déjà vu!"

"Is that the bracelet we bought yesterday on your wrist?" Evan Xiao looked at her arm.

"Don't change the subject! Just answer me—yes or no?"

"Why is there Rune Power on it?" Evan Xiao grabbed her hand and asked.

"Huh? You can see that too?" Someone's attention was successfully diverted.

"What kind of rune is it?"

"It's a special Messenger Charm made by Shannon," Grace said.

"The Vermilion Kingdom's spiritual power isn't strong enough. You can't use a Messenger Charm here, can you?"

"That's why it's special!" Grace said. "I can hear the other person, but we can't talk back and forth."

"Who's on the other end?"

Grace replied, "It's in the other bracelet—shh, wait, I hear her voice..."

The other bracelet was on Rona Zhu's wrist.

Through the bracelet, she could hear Rona Zhu's voice.

At that moment, she was arguing with someone.

"...Lily Xu, what are you doing!"

A loud "smack" sounded, like a slap. Lily Xu's voice rang out: "Just a mere servant, and you dare call me by name?"

"Hey! Even a dog gets respect for its master! I may be a servant, but I'm President Zhu's servant. How dare you hit me?"

"Pfft! President?" Lily Xu sneered. "She's just a little brat! Believe me, sooner or later I'll kick her out of Spirit Alliance Mountain!"

"Hmph! Overestimating yourself! Do you really think backing Vice President Wu makes you a match for my sister?" Rona Zhu said with disdain. "Back in the Blue Moon Spirit Alliance, Sun Xiangjun's family was related to Consort Penelope. And yet, my sister wiped out their whole clan!"

Lily Xu paused for a moment. "Oh? Is that so?"

"Just you wait! My sister will drive out all you bad people!" Rona Zhu declared.

"Rona, why are you here alone? I've been looking for you everywhere!" That was Rina Chu's voice.

"Let's go, Rina," Rona Zhu said.

"Huh? What happened to your face?"

"What do you think? She hit me."

Smack! Smack! Two more slaps.

With Lily Xu's startled cry, it was probably Rina Chu who hit her.

Then, as Lily Xu cursed and yelled, the two walked away.

...

Grace listened for a while, then laughed. "My cousin Rona really is something else."

"What?"

"I'll tell you later!" Grace said. "I promised Joanna Zuo I'd help her with a tough medical case this afternoon, so I need to head back to the Spirit Alliance. See you!"

With that, she climbed off him and was about to leave.

Unexpectedly, Evan Xiao reached out his long arm and pulled Grace back.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm going to the Spirit Alliance tomorrow."

"Why are you coming?"

"Just to look around!"

"Look at what?"

"Cangjing Terrace—to enjoy the scenery."

Grace: "..."

...

As soon as she stepped outside, Grace was surprised to find it was suddenly bright and sunny, as if the earlier storm had never happened.

"Evan Xiao," Grace called into the house, "Isn't it weird? Just now it was all dark clouds and thunder, but while I was talking to you, it cleared up!"

Evan Xiao replied from inside, "Weird."

Grace muttered a few more words about the unpredictable weather, then rode her flying beast back to Spirit Alliance Mountain.

A certain dragon touched his lips, a faint smile at the corner of his mouth.

...

A couple days ago, Joanna Zuo had told Grace she had a patient with very strange symptoms and asked her to take a look.

They agreed to meet this afternoon.
