Discussing Matters
Maybe it's because he's just too good-looking...
With sword-like brows, sharp eyes, and a smirk at the corner of his lips, he gave off an air that was both mischievous and mysterious, not quite proper but strikingly charismatic.
When he stood next to Evan Xiao, they complemented each other perfectly. Words like 'gods descending' or 'each dazzling in their own way' came to mind.
"Um... Imperial Advisor." Grace Lawrence stood at the doorway, plastering on a flattering smile. "You're back!"
Leon Zane turned his head and saw Grace Lawrence.
And the dragon scale on her neck.
That was the Crown Prince's reverse scale—a symbol of the Crown Princess—yet it hung around her neck.
A human girl so weak that a single breath of dragon fire could turn her to ashes...
"Imperial Advisor, I'm from the Zhu Estate. I specially asked General Evan Xiao for help, and now I'm here to—"
"Miss Lawrence?" Leon Zane suddenly interrupted her.
"Yes! I'm Grace Lawrence." Grace Lawrence replied with a smile.
Leon Zane leisurely fanned himself and asked, "So you're that so-called useless troublemaker, bad-tempered, and always dreaming about climbing into the Crown Prince's bed—Grace Lawrence?"
Useless troublemaker?
Bad-tempered?
Wow, you're really blunt...
Grace Lawrence swallowed nervously, her smile turning a bit stiff. "Yep! That's me—the useless troublemaker with a bad temper. But I don't actually spend all day thinking about climbing into the Crown Prince's bed, that's just a big misunderstanding."
"A misunderstanding... or have you set your sights on someone new?" Leon Zane glanced over at Evan Xiao.
Evan Xiao calmly finished pouring the tea, set down the teapot, and said, "Come in and talk."
"Alright!" Grace Lawrence entered, walked over to their table, and said to Leon Zane, "Imperial Advisor, here's the thing, I—ouch!"
She barely got a word out before Evan Xiao tugged her over to sit beside him.
"You don't have to be so polite when you talk to him," Evan Xiao said. "If you need something, just tell him to do it."
"Huh? Well..." Grace Lawrence hurriedly tried to stand up.
But before she could, Evan Xiao stretched out his long arm and pulled her into his embrace, looking totally relaxed. "Just say it."
Grace Lawrence's face instantly turned bright red, her mind went blank, and then she started squirming like an ant on a hot pan, flustered and annoyed. "Let go! People are watching!" she whispered to Evan Xiao.
Seeing her face as red as a steamed shrimp, Evan Xiao figured she wouldn't be able to talk properly, so he let her go. "Go ahead!"
Grace Lawrence took a deep breath, scooted away from Evan Xiao, and looked at Leon Zane. "Here's the thing, Imperial Advisor, I have something—no, actually two things—I need your help with."
Leon Zane seemed lost in thought, his face gloomy as he stared at Evan Xiao. He finally spat out two words: "Go on."
"The first thing is, some of the elders at our estate suggested..." Grace Lawrence explained the situation about Madam Wan being promoted to official wife. "My mother has been sickly since giving birth to me, and my grandmother never liked her. If this happens, I'm afraid she won't even have a place to stay. So, I wanted to ask the Imperial Advisor, when you do the divination, could you say... that Madam Wan's birth chart is incompatible with my father's, and that making her an official wife would bring disaster to the Zhu Estate?"
After she finished, seeing no reaction from him, Grace Lawrence added, "Imperial Advisor, this is the only thing I can do for my mother as her daughter! Please, for the General's sake, help us out."
Leon Zane fanned himself again, finally asking, "For the General's sake?"
