She Decides to Meet Leon Zane Herself

In her previous life, Grace (Chloe Zhu) had come across talismans before. She wasn't an expert, but she knew that what King Cheng described was something called a "Proximity Rune."

Whenever someone under the spell gets close to the caster, within a certain distance, the caster can sense it.

Grace wished she could drag Maya Summers over to see it for herself.

But with the Proximity Rune in place, you can imagine that if Maya Summers came to catch them a hundred times, she'd see a hundred different versions of "Sister-in-law."

Unless, of course, someone could break the rune on her!

......

Grace didn't know how to break runes.

She'd have to find a Rune Master for that.

And as far as Grace knew, in the Blue Moon Kingdom, the only possible Rune Master was the Royal Advisor, Leon Zane.

She decided to meet Leon Zane in person.

Early the next morning, Grace sent Chushi to tell Evan Xiao about it, saying she wanted his help to meet the Royal Advisor in person.

Chushi came back and reported that Evan Xiao said it was no problem—she could just go over in the afternoon.

When Edward Lawrence returned, Grace told him she'd arranged to meet Leon Zane and wanted to confirm things with him herself to feel reassured.

Her father naturally agreed.

But just before she left, Edward Lawrence called out to her, "Grace!"

"Dad, is something wrong?"

"Your mother took the elixir Evan Xiao sent over, and she's feeling much better now. She actually seems like a normal person—no more sleeping half the day away. Yesterday, she even complained the room was too hot because of all the stoves," Edward Lawrence said.

Grace smiled. "When I see General Xiao, I'll be sure to thank him properly."

"And you'll need his help with this matter too," Minghan Zhuo added. "You know, I've never accepted favors for nothing, but this time, I suddenly owe Evan Xiao a huge debt, and I have no idea how to repay it."

"So, Dad, what are you really trying to say?" Grace asked.

"Here, take this and give it to him!" Edward Lawrence said, looking determined as he handed her a red box.

"Wow, what's this treasure?" Grace's eyes sparkled as she tried to pry open the lid.

But the lid wouldn't budge.

"It's a puzzle box. Only a Spirit Master, Ninth Rank or above can open it. You're not strong enough," Edward Lawrence explained.

"So what's inside?"

"Just hand it to him and say it's from me," her father replied.

"Alright, alright!" Grace said, tucking the box away.

Once she got in the carriage, she tried every trick she knew to open the box.

She even used all her strength, but the box didn't move an inch.

So she gave up, put the box away in her space, and took it with her.

When she arrived at the General’s Manor, the guard told her that the General was in the Cold Moon Pavilion—and so was the Royal Advisor.

Grace headed straight for the Cold Moon Pavilion.

She didn’t run into a single person on the way; there was no one guarding the main house either. She made it to the door without a hitch and saw Evan Xiao rolling up his sleeves and pouring tea for Royal Advisor Leon Zane.

The way he moved, he had the air of a king (but he wasn’t royalty, so where did that kingly vibe come from? Must’ve been her imagination…), and a few silky strands of black hair fell gracefully over his chest, making him a sight to behold.

Across from him sat Leon Zane, somewhere between twenty and thirty, dressed all in white, hair tied up in a high crown, holding a feather fan and giving Evan Xiao a look she couldn’t quite describe.

Normally, anyone wearing that in late autumn—and carrying a fan—would get criticized.

But when Leon Zane wore it, no one could say a word. He just had this otherworldly vibe.
