Fighting Wolves, I Am Not Worthy of You
Damn it!
Serena Feng cursed under her breath, her feet moving faster than her mind. By the time she came to her senses, she was already charging toward William Wang Jinling.
"Miss Feng, it's dangerous, don't go!" Wen Yi and the others snapped out of it and hurried after her.
At this moment, Serena Feng was their anchor—they were terrified.
"Don't follow me!" Serena barked, but her feet didn’t slow down.
William Wang Jinling and Caleb Wang were surrounded by three wolves. Fortunately, unlike the others, they didn’t panic and run at the sight of the wolves.
William, though untrained in martial arts, exuded a commanding aura. Facing the three wolves, he showed no sign of weakness, his presence so imposing that the wolves dared not make a move.
These beasts—call them stupid, but they’re hypersensitive to danger; call them clever, yet they can’t tell if the person before them is truly strong or just pretending.
Facing William’s steady composure, the three wolves didn’t dare act rashly. Their green eyes glowed, drool dripping as they stared him down.
When Serena was ten steps away from William, she saw his soaked back and understood—he wasn’t as fearless as he seemed, just holding the wolves at bay through sheer will.
The others weren’t so lucky—terror had broken them, and the wolves tore into them without hesitation, blood and brutality everywhere. Serena forced herself to ignore it.
In times like these, she had to protect herself—and William and Caleb Wang first. The rest would have to wait.
Awooo...
Serena tried to advance, but the wolf couldn’t hold back any longer and let out a loud howl.
Serena knew these three wolves had lost their patience. They pressed forward, murderous intent clear. The green glow in their eyes faded, fear flickering, but they still hesitated.
Serena was no stranger to blood; the murderous aura she carried was nothing like William and Caleb’s.
Hmph, beasts are just beasts. For food, they’ll risk everything. Fine, I’ll oblige you.
Serena drew a large surgical scalpel, slashing at her sleeves and skirt. In an instant, her ethereal dress became a practical short outfit, revealing pale arms—though no one cared about that now.
After shedding the troublesome clothes, Serena sped up again: "William, to the right!"
Serena lunged forward. The three wolves leapt at her, William and Caleb dodged right, leaving Serena to face the wolves head-on—a perilous stand.
Serena, be careful!" William and Caleb could only watch as the three wolves lunged at her, while Serena stood motionless.
Awooo...
The wolf in the middle opened its jaws, lunging for Serena’s throat. Her heart pounded, but memories of veteran soldiers’ wolf-killing tips flashed through her mind.
Crack—her scalpel sliced through the wolf’s mouth. Serena felt her wrist go numb as a hot rush splattered over her.
She didn’t dare dodge—the wolves to her left and right lunged at the same time, as if on cue.
Serena switched the knife to her left hand. As the wolves lunged, she slashed open the belly of the middle wolf with one fierce stroke—its guts spilled out, and it collapsed.
Ugh... Wen Yi and the others retched and hid, but Serena’s face didn’t change.
In that instant, the wolves to her left and right closed in. Serena knew she had to sacrifice something—her right hand must stay unharmed, so she offered her left.
She switched the knife back to her right hand, ignoring the wolf to her left and protecting her vital spots, then lunged at the wolf on the right.
With a thud, Serena and the wolf wrestled and crashed to the ground.
The wolf on the left missed its mark, circled back, and lunged again. Serena grabbed the fur at its neck with her left hand, driving the scalpel in her right hand deep into its throat. As the left wolf lunged, she rolled with the beast, ignoring its claws.
Rip—the left wolf bit fiercely, but sank its teeth into the right wolf’s neck instead.
They’re killing each other—can’t blame me for that. Serena ignored the bloody scratches on her own skin, slid her knife down, and gutted the wolf pinning her. Her technique was so expert even a forensic surgeon would be impressed.
In that moment, Serena felt grateful for her mentor’s harsh training as a forensic surgeon. Without it, she wouldn’t have mastered these techniques.
It took dissecting hundreds of corpses to hone this skill.
Serena didn’t relax yet—the left wolf, having missed its target, came at her again.
Serena hadn’t even pushed the wolf corpse off her before she was knocked down again. Her right hand, holding the scalpel, was pinned under the corpse—only her left hand could move, but it couldn’t stop the wolf’s gaping jaws.
Just when Serena thought she was about to bleed out, a shadow flashed by.
Squelch—a bloody wolf’s head dropped onto her face, then rolled away, spraying her with blood.
Ugh...
Even Serena, bold as she was, was startled. She quickly shoved the wolf corpse off and stood, looking as though she’d just crawled out of a pool of blood.
Glad you’re alright, Serena." William stood straight, pale and weak, but didn’t waver.
I’m fine, thank you.
Only now did Serena realize William had come to her rescue with his sword.
I should be thanking you." William’s eyes darkened, remembering Serena’s battle with the wolves.
Father said this woman wasn’t worthy of the Wang family, but now it seemed he wasn’t worthy of Serena.
When danger struck, not only could he not protect Serena, he had to rely on her. Without her, he’d be dead.
So what if he was born into the Wang family, so what if he was famous? The wolves didn’t care about status—before death, everyone was equal.
Serena waved dismissively, trying to wipe the blood and wolf fur from her face, only to find her hands were bloody too.
I have a handkerchief—use this." Wen Yi timidly stepped forward, offering a clean handkerchief, her eyes filled with suppressed awe and admiration.
Thanks." Serena took it without looking, wiped her face, then tossed it aside before checking on the others.
Fortunately, the Hundred-Herb Garden guards had arrived. The remaining wolves were surrounded—there would likely be no more casualties.
Serena finally relaxed. In her state, she couldn’t fight any more wolves—unless she used her handgun, but…
She remembered how careful she’d been, yet Lance Quinn had still discovered the gun. Medical skills could save lives, but that gun was a killing tool—if found, it would mean big trouble.
A man is not guilty, but carrying a rare treasure is his crime.
