Third Princess, Who Is That
With that, Grace flashed Wendy Zhu a gentle smile. "Your Majesty, please take it!"
"Thank you, big sister!" Wendy Zhu said, squeezing Grace's hand.
Grace gave her a kind, gentle smile.
Wendy Zhu's Spirit Root had always been a bit unstable.
It had been that way ever since she was a child.
Ms. Wan said she was born with some deficiencies, even in the womb.
Back then, Grace had really believed Wendy Zhu had some sort of deficiency.
Now she realized it was probably because Wendy Zhu was using someone else's Spirit Root—which never really fit.
Now, Wendy Zhu was planning to use the Legacy Stone she was about to get to fix this mismatch.
Oh, come on—she wishes!
But she didn't want to make things harder for her father, either.
She understood what was on her father's mind.
He'd always felt sorry for Wendy Zhu, and now he felt even worse.
Mainly, he felt guilty.
He married her off to Colin Gu, but secretly, he was plotting to overthrow him...
......
Once Wendy Zhu got the Legacy Stone, she boarded the Phoenix Carriage and returned in grand style.
Grace glanced at the military camp. "Dad, I just remembered—I left something in the tent. Can you wait for me a minute? I'll go grab it!"
"Go ahead," Minister Zhuo said. "I'll wait for you so we can go home together."
So Grace went back.
She hadn't gone far when she spotted Lu Xin.
She pulled Lu Xin aside where no one could see them and whispered a few words in his ear.
Lu Xin nodded repeatedly, then dashed off to find the general.
Grace returned to her own tent, grabbed something at random, and went back to meet up with her dad.
Her father asked if what Evan Xiao said today was true, and Grace told him of course it wasn't.
"Then why did he say the wedding would be in July? It's already March, only four months away. Will he really marry that Bianca Whitefan by then?"
Grace thought for a moment and said, "No idea."
......
General's Manor.
Sophie Shang, Leon Zane, and Bianca Whitefan were all there.
Bianca Whitefan and Leon Zane were munching on cherry fruit.
Sophie Shang was reporting to Evan Xiao: "Your Highness, we've already intercepted the goods. Tonight, I'll have someone bring them in through the secret underground passage."
"Mm. Thanks for your hard work!" Evan Xiao said.
"Your Highness, what do you need all this Legacy Stone for?"
"I've got my reasons," Evan Xiao replied. "You can head back now."
"Yes, sir," Sophie Shang replied, but didn't leave. "General, you said you'd marry the Third Princess in July—what's that about?"
Bianca Whitefan was stunned. "Third Princess? Who's that?"
"You," Sophie Shang said, glancing at her.
"Me? Marry the general?" Bianca Whitefan nearly spat out her fruit.
"Colin Gu must be out of his mind, wanting to shove Princess Lynne Ling onto His Highness. His Highness is just using you as a shield, so don't get so worked up," Sophie Shang said coolly.
Bianca Whitefan shot her a look and fell silent.
"Your Highness," Sophie Shang asked Evan Xiao again, "Do you have a plan?"
Evan Xiao said, "That's not something you need to worry about right now."
Sophie Shang took a deep breath. "Your Highness, I just... care about you."
Evan Xiao looked at her. "I know."
"...Well, I'll be going now." Sophie Shang's eyes dimmed a little as she turned and left.
As soon as she left, Leon Zane clicked his tongue. "Tsk tsk tsk! Someone's jealous!"
"If it's too sour, maybe you should lay off the fruit," Evan Xiao said, deadpan.
Leon Zane grinned, still munching away. "Humans call this 'romantic debt.' Your Highness, you're colder than a snowman, but you've racked up so many romantic debts! How do you plan to pay them off?"
"That's none of your concern," Evan Xiao said. "Right now, there's something I need you to handle."
"What is it?"
