What Is Your Mother's Name
Then, to their horror, they realized their spiritual power had been sealed. Their lower bodies were numb, and they couldn’t even stand.
Turns out, the scariest thing in this forest isn’t the spirit beasts.
And the ones who come to save you aren’t always the good guys...
“What are you doing? Who are you?” Grace demanded.
The Masked Stranger acted like Grace wasn’t even there. His sharp, hidden gaze was locked onto Felix Xi. “Your name is Felix Xi?”
Felix Xi replied, “Yes.”
“Who is Serena Xi to you?”
“I’ve never heard that name,” Felix Xi said.
“Then what’s your mother’s name?” the Masked Stranger pressed.
“My mother’s surname is Chen, her name is Fiona Chen,” Felix Xi answered. (Translator’s note: In the following interrogation, Felix Xi also names Serena Xi as his mother, which may reflect a plot point or the effects of the Red Truth Pill.)
The Masked Stranger crouched in front of Felix Xi and asked again, “What’s your relationship with Luke Kee?”
Felix Xi answered calmly, “Luke Kee? You mean the founder of our Spirit Alliance?”
“Cut the act.” The Masked Stranger’s voice was low and cold, just like the black sword in his hand. “You’re already in my hands. You’ll talk whether you want to or not! Why waste both our time?”
Felix Xi asked, “Who are you?”
“You don’t need to know that. Just tell me who you are.”
“If you really want me to say what my relationship is with the Alchemist God, then fine—I’ll tell you. He’s our ancestral master.” Felix Xi said.
The Masked Stranger nodded, then pulled out a medicine bottle and poured out a red pill.
Grace secretly gritted her teeth. That was a Red Truth Pill.
Once swallowed, it robs you of your free will. Whatever someone asks, you’ll answer.
This guy’s cultivation is almost on par with Zane Wan.
With just one move, he drove away the Feathered Serpent.
And with another, he made both of them completely unable to fight back.
Grace glanced around the deep mountain forest. While the Masked Stranger was distracted, she quietly slipped the Dragon Scale into her mouth and bit down hard.
There was no other way. Besides Evan Xiao, she couldn’t think of anyone else who could save them.
But the Evan Xiao of today was no longer the same as before.
Grace bit down for ages, nearly breaking a tooth, but he didn’t show up at all.
The Masked Stranger had already fed Felix Xi the Red Truth Pill.
He asked again, “Who are you?”
“Felix Xi.”
“What’s your mother’s name?”
“Serena Xi.” (Translator’s note: Felix Xi previously named Fiona Chen as his mother. This change may be due to the effects of the Red Truth Pill or a plot twist regarding Felix Xi’s parentage.)
“What’s your father’s name?”
“Luke Kee.”
“You’re Luke Kee’s son?”
“Yes.”
“Did you inherit Kee’s Legacy?”
“No.”
“Then who inherited Kee’s Legacy?”
“Chloe Zhu.”
“Who is Chloe Zhu?”
“That’s her.” Felix Xi pointed at Grace.
Grace wanted to smash her head against a wall.
The man looked genuinely surprised. He stood up and walked to Grace. “You inherited Kee’s Legacy?”
“Are you one of Leon Young’s people?” Grace asked him.
Leon Young was the one who plotted to kill Luke Kee.
He’s now the Grand Elder of the Spirit Alliance.
Grace had met him before and was certain this man wasn’t Leon Young.
But he could very well be one of Leon Young’s men.
“Looks like you really did inherit it.” The man said, pulling out another Red Truth Pill, preparing to force it down Grace’s throat.
Just then, a surge of powerful, razor-sharp fire energy struck the Masked Stranger’s back.
The Masked Stranger spun around and blocked the attack.
Up on the hillside stood an elderly man in blue robes.
“Samuel Tang!” the Masked Stranger spat out the name, his voice dark.
“Eugene Ye, prepare to die!” The blue-robed elder shouted back, and the two immediately clashed.
“It’s Elder Samuel!” Grace’s eyes lit up.
But Felix Xi didn’t answer her—he was still under the effects of the medicine.
