Beginning to Go Mad

2/14/2026

After Warren Wong retreated a few steps, he indeed saw Evan Yang. Evan had originally planned to withdraw—after all, even Connor Hawke had trouble detecting him—but that strange figure spotted him, which could only mean one thing: the opponent's divine sense was extremely strong, and thus their cultivation was formidable. Yet, the words spoken by the monster just now were clearly out of fear of Evan approaching.

This made Evan Yang bolder, wanting to see what was really going on.

Warren Wong's arrival put no pressure on Evan Yang at all; he quickly taught Warren another lesson.

"You!" Distracted by worry, Warren slipped up and was struck by Evan Yang, snapping one of his wings.

"Let's see where you run now!" Evan Yang laughed after breaking one of Warren's wings.

With one wing broken, Warren Wong's speed really dropped. He glared furiously at Evan Yang, wanting to escape again—but the person behind had already given the order: fight to the death, no retreat.

So Warren gritted his teeth and kept fighting Evan Yang. From one broken wing, to two, then only his horn was left—his whole body covered in wounds.

"Step aside!" Evan Yang said.

"No!" Warren Wong knew that retreat meant dying even faster. Only by holding his ground might he find a glimmer of hope.

Evan Yang kicked out, taught Warren Wong another lesson, and said, "Back then, it was your clan who came after me first. I had no grudge against you!"

"So what? My brother died by your hand, and so did my father." Warren Wong refused to listen to Evan Yang's reasoning.

"If people don't mess with me, I won't mess with them. They came after me first, so I retaliated. If you don't want to die, you'd better stop provoking me, or you'll end up just like your family." Evan Yang felt he'd already taught the Wong Clan enough of a lesson; the old grudges were behind him, especially as he reached higher realms. Now, he couldn't care less about petty feuds.

But Warren Wong wasn't as broad-minded as Evan Yang. He was convinced Evan was the murderer of his father and brother, and he wanted Evan dead.

So, whether he lived or died, he was determined to fight Evan Yang to the death. Just as Warren tried to self-destruct and drag Evan down with him, a voice rang out from the Blood Altar: "Kid, you'd better let him go, or you'll be dead soon."

Evan Yang ignored the threat and laughed. "I have no idea what kind of monster you are—neither human nor ghost."

"You!" The figure atop the Blood Altar was clearly furious; nothing angered him more than being called that.

"Got nothing to say, huh? Then I want to see just what you really are." Evan Yang walked over. Warren Wong, unable to move, could only watch helplessly as Evan approached the altar.

"Kid, are you just too lucky?" The monster grew stranger as Evan Yang drew closer, staring him down.

"I make my own destiny. As for luck, I couldn't say. But you—devouring so many primordial spirits—aren't you afraid someone will find out?" Seeing the writhing spirits, Evan Yang felt a surge of anger. This was live, bloody devouring.

"You're really not leaving?" the monster warned.
