Dodging, attacking, seizing every opportunity—Evan Yang darted back and forth with his agile movements, quickly taking out several insects.
Warren Wong grew furious as he watched the insects around him drop one by one. He wanted to order all the bugs to launch a full assault on Evan Yang, but if they attacked together, a massive spatial crack would open—meaning many insects would be sacrificed.
Besides, they were fighting in a tunnel, so the space was already cramped. Only a few insects could gang up on Evan Yang at the same time—any others just ended up as cannon fodder, blocking the attacks of their fellow bugs.
This left Warren Wong both shocked and angry at Evan Yang, while Evan took full advantage, picking off the nearest insects one by one.
In this situation, Warren Wong had to make a quick decision. If he waited too long, Evan Yang would kill off the insects before his spiritual power ran out. But Evan wasn’t having an easy time either—with so many bugs to deal with, every time he killed one, another took its place, making it feel like he was being crushed under their numbers.
Soon, with his spiritual power almost depleted, Evan Yang remembered how he’d used a supreme crystal ore before. He pulled out a violet‑black energy stone, imitating Benson Blue, and absorbed it. His energy quickly recovered, making him even stronger—unlike the insects, who couldn’t replenish their energy on the spot.
Warren Wong saw this and hated it, cursing inwardly about whatever Evan Yang was absorbing to recover his spiritual power so fast.
Evan Yang kept burning through spiritual power and topping it off again. If you said his body wasn’t changing, that would be impossible—he was already on the verge of breaking into late-stage Spirit‑Wandering, and now he felt even closer, though he didn’t know exactly when the breakthrough would come.
"Sacrifice a few, then." Seeing the insects fall and Evan Yang’s rapid recovery, Warren Wong sighed inwardly and gave a new command to the surrounding bugs.
Buzz! Suddenly the insects went berserk, launching a mass attack on Evan Yang.
"So sudden?" Evan Yang had expected them to surround and attack him, but this formation was different—it looked like they were planning to sacrifice some bugs.
Evan Yang felt countless attacks coming at him from all directions. He could dodge, but a spatial crack opened up behind him, growing larger and larger.
"A spatial crack? Don’t they know I can survive that?" Evan Yang sneered.
"I don’t believe you can make it out." Warren Wong had never seen Evan Yang fall into a spatial crack himself—he’d only heard that even Immortals couldn’t escape. So he assumed Evan never actually dropped in.
But what happened next left him stunned.
Evan Yang just smiled, weaving quickly between the closing bugs and shoving them straight into the crack.
One, two, three—in just a moment, the spatial crack reached its maximum size, and Evan Yang had pushed over a hundred insects into it.
"You—!" Warren Wong was furious, shouting orders to the remaining bugs. The insects went wild, throwing themselves forward like there was food waiting for them ahead.
Evan Yang didn’t care about these crazy bugs’ fate. He kept tossing and dodging until the spatial crack slowly closed. Once he stopped, most of the insects able to fight him were gone—only a handful remained with Warren Wong.
Warren Wong was dumbfounded. He’d meant to force Evan Yang into the crack, but Evan had used the insects as cannon fodder instead. Now, with the spatial crack closed, the bugs were doomed, while Evan was perfectly fine.
"Still want to keep going?" Evan Yang said with a smile.
"You—!" Warren Wong was out of options. He’d used every power he had, but he absolutely couldn’t let Evan Yang discover this path.
"I know you’re trying to block me from coming this way. These powerful bugs must be your strongest force, right?" Evan Yang smiled, but was secretly shocked—he’d killed so many insects along the way, and if the tunnel weren’t so narrow or his divine sense so special, he’d have been shoved into a spatial crack by now.
Warren Wong realized Evan Yang had guessed right, but there was nothing he could do. He slowly retreated, leaving behind a warning: "You’d better not go any further! If you do, you can imagine for yourself how you’ll die."
Evan Yang ignored his warning—the more Warren tried to block him, the more determined he was to go down and see for himself.
One thing Evan Yang couldn’t figure out was why Warren Wong was here, while the Blue Clan seemed to be guarding something. If those guardians really mattered, Warren must have gotten through the tunnels himself.
This question made Evan Yang even more curious. But with Warren gone, he could only keep moving forward, searching for answers—and for Warren’s master, who must be some figure capable of making Warren advance so quickly.
There were no forks in the tunnel, so Evan Yang made his way down easily. Warren Wong followed behind at a distance, torn between wanting Evan to find the secret and not wanting him to. He couldn’t step out to stop Evan, since he had so little power left.
In just a few days, Warren Wong had squandered his massive army of insects.
When Evan Yang reached a cave entrance, he stopped—he couldn’t get in. "Why is there a formation here?"
Puzzled, Evan Yang activated Heaven’s Eye to inspect the formation. He was shocked—it was beyond ninth grade, something he couldn’t see through at all, way outside his knowledge.
"What should I do?" Since he couldn’t see through the formation, Evan Yang had no way to break it.
Not far away, Warren Wong relaxed when he saw Evan Yang blocked by the cave, continuing to watch from the sidelines.
Evan Yang knew Warren Wong was following him, but didn’t call him out. Even if Evan tried to catch him, Warren could escape quickly with those strange wings.
So Evan Yang stayed there thinking, while Warren Wong watched from behind. Sometimes Evan would touch the formation, then pull back—he tried several times. Finally, Evan made his move, bringing out his sharp Life-Bound treasures. Having refined nine of them, Evan held his daggers, hoping for the next one to appear, though the odds were low. He focused on the ones he had.
"What’s he trying to do?" Warren Wong wondered, seeing Evan Yang take out so many identical daggers.
What happened next startled Warren Wong. Evan Yang controlled all the daggers to attack the same spot at once.
Even with just his fists, Evan Yang could sometimes unleash tenfold attack power. With the daggers’ boost, his occasional tenfold bursts meant his attacks could reach over ten times normal strength.
The first few times, Evan Yang didn’t hit tenfold power and couldn’t break through at all, but he didn’t give up—he kept attacking.
He kept trying, again and again.
"Scared me for a second—good thing he couldn’t break through." Warren Wong breathed a sigh of relief when Evan Yang failed to crack the formation.
But as he waited to see Evan Yang struggle, the scene below stunned him. He had no idea how Evan did it, but suddenly the force at the attack point surged.
Evan Yang was secretly delighted. "This is it—right now!"
A burst of over ten times normal strength hit the spot—creak!—a small opening appeared.
A finger-sized opening appeared before Evan Yang.
"Heh, got it." Evan Yang put away his daggers with a grin.
Seeing the tiny opening, Warren Wong lost his composure. This was a high-level formation—no one on the continent could solve it. Yet Evan Yang had brute-forced his way through. How powerful was his attack?
"It’s just a tiny hole—he probably can’t get in, right?" Warren Wong muttered, frustrated.
But just as he finished muttering, Evan Yang vanished from Warren’s sight.
"What’s going on?" Warren Wong realized Evan Yang was gone and hurried over to the cave entrance.
Now Warren Wong was truly panicked—his master was inside. If he didn’t get in to stop Evan Yang, the consequences would be disastrous if Evan ruined anything.
"No, no, I have to get in!" Warren Wong said anxiously, then hurried to unlock the cave entrance by some method.
He rushed inside.
Meanwhile, Evan Yang hid in a concealed spot, following right behind Warren Wong.
Warren Wong had no idea Evan Yang possessed something as miraculous as the Sky-Piercing Tower. Evan had only made an opening and was thinking about how to get Warren to lead him in—so the next scene unfolded.
Warren Wong was so frantic he didn’t notice any changes around him. Even when the little tower was placed in a corner, he missed it, so he mistakenly thought Evan Yang had rushed in and hurried after him.
Evan Yang’s divine sense was stronger than Warren Wong’s. Only after confirming Warren wouldn’t notice him did Evan follow, keeping an eye on where Warren was headed.
Warren Wong was so anxious he never realized Evan Yang was right behind him. He hurried ahead.
This way, Evan Yang quickly started to notice something strange—the air was filled with the smell of blood.
Warren Wong stopped at a blood altar. He saw a mangled figure with no one else around and wondered aloud, "Strange, what’s going on?"
The mangled figure looked at Warren Wong curiously. "Why are you back again? Where is he?"
Still confused from before, Warren Wong explained everything. When the figure heard about the loss of so many insects, he was furious. Hearing that Evan Yang had brute-forced his way through left him both shocked and angry. And when Warren said Evan had disappeared, the figure’s tone grew even more astonished.
Evan Yang watched Warren Wong and the blood altar closely.
At that moment, the altar glowed, protecting the figure inside. Warren Wong stood by, waiting for answers.
"Is that his master? He looks disgusting." Evan Yang was nearly scared to death seeing the mangled figure. He glanced at the blood around and the squirming things on the figure’s body—staring closer, he realized several nascent souls were struggling there.
"Nascent souls? Is he eating them?" Evan Yang was stunned by the sight.
Just then, the mangled figure cried out, "Damn it, he came in with you!"
"Came in with me?" Warren Wong had no idea what was happening. He quickly turned to look behind him, but saw nothing. The mangled figure’s divine sense was clearly stronger than Evan Yang’s, and quickly found Evan’s presence.
Hearing this, Evan Yang was shocked. "He’s clearly no ordinary person."
"Quick! Stop him—don’t let him get close to me!" the figure shouted angrily.
Warren Wong had no choice—he braced himself and headed back the way he came.
