Healing the Legs

2/27/2026

Yang Han said, "I'm not wrong. Right now, it's got demonic qi inside."

The powerful expert who arrived later checked several more times, even taking out a mirror. When the mirror shone on the beast, everyone saw a faint black aura appear inside its body on the mirror's surface.

Seeing the black aura, Bei Chongtian's legs completely gave out. "I... I..."

"What else is there to say, Young Master Bei? Looks like your Bei family will have to give an explanation." The man grabbed Bei Chongtian and left. The others stared in shock, realizing Bei Chongtian couldn't get out of this—after all, Immortal Realm people fear demonic qi, especially demonic arts, above all else.

Everyone knew there were only two winners left: one was Yang Han, the other was Marquis Tianzi.

"Kid, I didn't expect it would be just the two of us left. Also, how did you spot it just now?" Marquis Tianzi asked curiously.

"I'm not really sure, maybe it was just a feeling." Yang Han couldn't explain, so he just said something casual.

Marquis Tianzi was skeptical of Yang Han's answer, but couldn't say more. Behind the glass, Shui Yun laughed, "Big Brother, you're amazing! I didn't expect that guy really was cheating."

"Good thing too. If it wasn't him, your second uncle might have ended up as a test subject," the woman said, her worry turning to joy.

The man in the wheelchair couldn't help but take a sharp breath. As for Shui Yun, his fondness for Yang Han grew even more, and the woman felt the same.

"Selena, are you planning to have two husbands?" her brother asked curiously.

"No, there's one last test. Whoever can heal your legs will become my future husband," Lady Selena explained.

"So, the person from your dream is one of these two?" her brother asked curiously.

"Most likely, yes," Lady Selena replied.

"Let's begin then." The Water Young Master looked forward to seeing if someone could truly heal him. The beasts' symptoms had been modeled after his own, but his injury was much older and far harder to cure.

Outside, the guide said to Evan Yang and Kevin Chance, "You two, follow me."

Kevin Chance smiled at Evan Yang. "Let's go."

Evan Yang and Kevin Chance followed the guide into another room. Inside, they saw three people: a man, a woman, and a young boy. The room even had a view of the previous test area.

Both Evan Yang and Kevin Chance were surprised. Evan was even more shocked to see the young boy—it was Noel Water, the one he had just treated. Noel waved and smiled at Evan, while the man in the wheelchair stared at Evan, as if trying to see right through him.

"You may leave now," Lady Selena said to the guide.

The guide nodded, then closed the door, leaving five people inside. Kevin Chance secretly sent a voice transmission to Evan Yang, "The woman in front of us is Lady Selena, and the one in the wheelchair is the Water Young Master."

Evan Yang studied Lady Selena and her brother. The Water Young Master still stared at him with that intense gaze, making Evan feel strange—why was he looking at him like that?

Lady Selena glanced at Evan Yang and Kevin Chance, then said, "Not bad, you two are impressive, passing every test. Now it's the final round. Whoever succeeds will be my future husband—you know the drill."

"No need, we understand," Kevin Chance said with a smile.

"So, who's going first?" Lady Selena asked.

Kevin Chance frowned. "There's actually an order? What's the reason?"

"It's nothing special, just like before—heal his legs," Lady Selena replied.

Evan Yang remembered his Third Uncle had said the Water Clan's feud with the Yang Clan was because his father crippled someone from the Water Clan. Judging by the situation, it must have been the man in the wheelchair, and the whole event was clearly set up for this.

"But there's only one person—how will it work? If the first succeeds, the second isn't needed," Kevin Chance said. "I haven't finished explaining the rules," Lady Selena continued.

"What other rules are there?" Kevin Chance asked curiously. "The rule is simple: if the first person fails to heal him, the first has to take responsibility," Lady Selena said.

"Take responsibility? What kind of responsibility?" Kevin Chance asked suspiciously.

"Anyone who can't heal him will be locked up for ten thousand years. But if your treatment actually kills him, you'll be executed on the spot," Lady Selena said without hesitation.

Kevin Chance sucked in a breath. "That's serious."

"This is a human life, not a beast! So whoever goes first needs to be careful. If you can't heal him, that's what I meant. But if you succeed, you're the winner and the second person won't be needed," Lady Selena explained.

Kevin Chance looked at Evan Yang. "Who wants to go first?"

"Doesn't matter to me," Evan Yang said.

"Doesn't matter, huh? That's not easy to decide. Let's draw lots," Kevin Chance said after thinking for a moment.

"Draw lots?" Evan Yang asked skeptically.

"Yes, exactly—draw lots," Kevin Chance replied.

"Alright, how do we draw?" Evan Yang asked.

Kevin Chance took out two stones, one red and one white. "Red goes first, white goes second," he said.

He then covered the two stones and used something to conceal them, so no one could see through. "Pick one," Kevin Chance said.

Evan Yang thought for a moment, then reached out and picked one—it was white, meaning he would go second. Kevin Chance smiled, "Looks like I'm lucky, I get to go first. Guess I got the advantage."

"Are you confident?" Evan Yang asked.

"Of course," Kevin Chance replied with a smile.

"Stop whispering, you two. Since you've decided, let's get started," Lady Selena said once both had chosen their order.

Kevin Chance looked at Evan Yang. "If I win, congratulate me. But if I lose, we'll meet again in ten thousand years."

Evan Yang found it oddly sad. Although they'd only just met, Evan felt Kevin Chance wasn't a bad person.

"Are you ready?" Lady Selena asked as Kevin Chance stepped forward.

"Ready," Kevin Chance replied.

Kevin Chance began his treatment. He took out a long needle, heated it until it was red-hot, and started puncturing the Water Young Master's legs, draining blackened blood. He worked for two hours, creating hundreds of puncture points.

The Water Young Master was able to stand briefly, but moments later he vomited blood and collapsed back into his wheelchair. All the wounds reopened, proving Kevin Chance's treatment had failed and nearly killed him.

Lady Selena's face darkened with fury. "Guards! Seize him!" she shouted.

The guards rushed in and grabbed Kevin Chance. Lady Selena turned to Evan Yang. "Now it's your turn. If you fail, you'll be next," she warned coldly.

Evan Yang nodded calmly and stepped forward to examine the Water Young Master's legs.

Evan Yang carefully checked each injury, noting the severity and the lingering effects of previous failed treatments.

Lady Selena watched closely, her expression tense. Noel Water also looked on, worried about his brother.

Evan Yang took a deep breath, then began his treatment, using both medicine and unique healing arts to repair the Water Young Master's legs.

After a long time, the Water Young Master slowly stood up, his legs steady and strong. Lady Selena's face lit up with relief and hope.

The Water Young Master looked at Evan Yang, his eyes full of gratitude. "Thank you," he said sincerely.

Lady Selena smiled warmly. "Congratulations, Evan Yang. You've passed the final test."

Evan Yang nodded, feeling a sense of accomplishment and relief.

Kevin Chance was released by the guards and walked over to Evan Yang. "Congratulations, you really pulled it off!" he said with a laugh.

Evan Yang smiled. "Thanks. I was lucky."

Lady Selena looked at Evan Yang. "From today onward, you're my fiancé."

Evan Yang was stunned. He hadn't expected things to turn out this way.

Lady Selena smiled. "Don't worry, you'll get used to it."

Kevin Chance grinned. "Looks like you have a bright future ahead, Evan Yang."

Evan Yang scratched his head, still in disbelief at how his fate had changed so quickly.

The woman was overjoyed. "Really? It's cured?" Shui Yun was thrilled too, jumping from Yang Han's arms and rushing over. "Uncle, how do you feel?"

"I feel pretty good. Let me try," the man said, slowly rising to stand. Marquis Tianzi smiled, "Take it slow, take it slow."

Yang Han, however, still frowned, not feeling happy. It wasn't because Marquis Tianzi had succeeded—on the contrary, the man didn't seem fully healed. As he stood, it felt like something was missing.

Just as Marquis Tianzi approached Yang Han to boast, the man suddenly coughed up blood and collapsed into the wheelchair. The sudden turn shocked everyone.

The woman was furious and looked at Marquis Tianzi. "What's going on?" "I—I thought I'd fixed him," Marquis Tianzi said in shock, unable to believe it.

Yang Han saw blood pouring from the wounds on the man's legs—none of the medicine worked. Alarmed, Yang Han ignored the tense atmosphere, rushed over, and began examining his legs.
