Rewarding You with Half a Cup of Tea

2/14/2026

The newcomer’s voice boomed through the room. Dressed in a custom Armani suit and polished leather shoes, a thick cigar clamped between his teeth, he radiated an overwhelming aura.

Behind him surged a crowd of several dozen muscle-bound thugs. Each one looked like a hardened criminal just out of prison—one glance was enough to make any ordinary person’s heart tremble in fear.

Sam “Second Brother” Su strode inside, while his underlings lined up obediently outside the door, not daring to make a sound.

He walked in alone, his gaze sweeping across the lounge, immediately spotting Rory “Hammer” Luo sprawled on the floor, face covered in blood and looking absolutely miserable.

Then he saw, in front of Rory, one thug kneeling on the ground clutching his stomach, head pressed to the floor and groaning, while another lay slumped sideways, his face upturned, his backside pinning down what looked like a high-schooler’s head.

There was a hole in the ceiling, the floor littered with broken tiles and rubble. On the coffee table sat a cup of tea, half-finished, the tea leaves swirling and casting a fresh green hue.

“Su-ge! You’re here!”

Seeing Sam Su enter, Rory “Hammer” Luo started wailing and crawled desperately toward him. “Su-ge, thank god you’re here! I was going to wait until Serena Tong’s fan meeting ended and invite her to drink with you, but out of nowhere this punk showed up! Not only did he stop me from taking her, he beat up all of us!”

“He even boasted that, even if you showed up in person, he wouldn’t give you any face. Said you were ‘not worth a fart’ and he’d blast you away without a second thought!”

Rory couldn’t help but pile on, exaggerating every word. For a guy like him, fanning the flames and playing both sides was already second nature.

"Second Brother Su, they're just kids. If they've made mistakes, please don't take it to heart! I'll have them apologize to you right away!" Liz Ji's heart was pounding with fear.

Queenie Tong had no idea how terrifying Sam "Second Brother" Su was, but Liz Ji knew all too well.

The Su family ruled Jinnan with an iron fist. Even if Sam Su’s reputation wasn’t spotless, his connections were rock solid.

And that’s not even mentioning Old Man Su, the family patriarch—rumor had it he was still active in the military. His rank might not be high, and he didn’t hold much real power, but as long as Victor Su was alive, the family had deep roots.

"Kids? I want to see just how grown-up these 'kids' are, daring to talk to me like that! Good thing—I’ll teach him a lesson myself. No matter who you are, you pay the price for your words and actions!"

Sam Su snorted coldly.

His mood had been foul lately—the Su family's situation was anything but optimistic.

Earlier, when Master Baiyun made his grand appearance, the Su family had tried everything to get close, no matter the cost—they wanted that connection.

But who could have guessed? Master Baiyun got furious, soared off to avenge his disciple, and vanished without a trace.

Days had passed with no news at all. Sam Su was especially frustrated.

Sam Su, cigar in mouth, strode straight to the sofa and plopped down. He took the cigar in one hand and tapped its ash into the half-finished cup of tea on the table.

Ash floated and sank in the tea, swirling in greasy little circles.

"Where’s the kid?"

Sam Su swept his gaze around the room, voice icy cold.

"He went to the restroom, he’ll be back any second! I’ve been watching—don’t worry, Second Brother Su, he can’t run!" Rory “Hammer” Luo blurted out, "Now that you’re here, you can just take Serena Tong out for drinks later. Oh, and there’s another pretty girl too—might as well bring her along!"

The moment Rory said that, Liz Ji’s face went ghostly pale.

Sam Su shook his head. "Tsk tsk, I’m already here and he still dares to go to the bathroom? The kid’s got guts—maybe he pissed his pants from fear."

He snickered, tapped more ash into the tea. "When he comes out, first I’ll make him drink this cup. Then I’ll settle accounts with him."

Watching Sam Su act so cocky, Rory felt totally reassured, while Liz Ji looked like she’d seen a ghost.

A toilet flush echoed from down the hall.

Then came the sound of a door being pushed open.

Queenie Tong stood respectfully at the restroom door, waiting for Evan Lin to step out. She bowed her head and quickly led the way.

There was a corner between the restroom and the main hall.

Sam Su, sitting there, first spotted Queenie Tong as she came out.

His gaze roamed shamelessly over her—figure, looks, everything. He nodded inwardly, clearly satisfied.

"Master, this way." Queenie Tong said softly.

"Well, look at that attitude. Now I'm even more curious." Sam Su sneered, shifting to make himself more comfortable.

The next second—

Sam Su squinted, put the cigar to his lips, ready to take a deep drag.

Rory “Hammer” Luo looked vicious, almost gleeful. He could already picture that arrogant kid groveling and begging for mercy.

Liz Ji’s heart sank to rock bottom—she was ready to bolt for the door.

Sam Su crossed one leg over the other.

At last, Evan Lin walked out from behind Queenie Tong.

The moment Sam Su saw Evan Lin, his face froze—utterly stunned, he forgot all about his cigar.

"Second Brother Su, that’s the punk! Damn, so arrogant! He’s the one who said you’re not even worth a fart!" Rory “Hammer” Luo yelled, practically jumping with excitement.

Rory added fuel to the fire, shouting even louder.

Queenie Tong stood quietly beside Evan Lin.

Evan Lin looked perfectly calm, glancing at Sam Su on the sofa. "Long time no see. You’re looking well."

"Who do you think you’re talking to? You haven’t seen him in ages! That’s Second Brother Su! You’ve got some nerve!" Rory “Hammer” Luo sneered.

Before he could finish, Sam Su’s face twisted. He shot to his feet, stepped forward, and kicked Rory “Hammer” Luo hard.

"You bastard! Is that how you talk to the Master?"

With a furious shout, Sam Su kicked Rory flat to the floor.

"Master?"

Rory’s head hit the wall. He was left dizzy and dazed.

Liz Ji was utterly stunned by Sam Su’s words, frozen in place.

If it were just Queenie Tong calling him ‘Master,’ that would be one thing. But this was Sam Su—the infamous Second Brother Su!

Anyone who could make Sam Su call them ‘Master’...

Only now did Liz Ji really study the boy before her: slightly handsome, spotless, not a trace of fear even when facing Sam Su.

He was more like a sword hidden in its sheath.

Sam Su was trembling with respect, tossing away his cigar. He stood before Evan Lin, face full of anxiety, bowing deeply.

Evan Lin calmly sat on the sofa across from Sam Su and spoke in a flat voice: "The half cup of tea on the table—drink it."
