Helping Out

2/14/2026

Evan Lin sat on the sofa, his gaze calm as he looked at Sam Su standing in front of him.

Sam Su heard this and glanced at the half cup of tea on the table. He had already filled it with cigar ash, making the tea cloudy and nauseating to look at.

"Master... I can't drink this."

Sam Su swallowed and forced a bitter smile. "I really didn’t know this was you, Master. If I’d known, I swear I wouldn’t have let that idiot mess with you."

"This..."

Sam Su looked at the tea on the table, terrified and ready to beg for mercy.

"Three."

Evan Lin spoke lightly.

Hearing this, Sam Su’s face changed dramatically, his gaze darting rapidly between Evan and the tea.

Rory Hammer, collapsed to the side, watched Sam Su in shock, while Liz Ji, standing nearby, was already stunned.

She stared blankly at Sam Su. Given his status in Jinnan, no one should dare make him drink that tea!

"Two."

A cold voice rang out again.

Sam Su gritted his teeth and suddenly grabbed the cup of tea.

"Su-ge, you can't drink that!"

Rory Hammer couldn't help but shout.

Sam Su stepped forward, kicked Rory in the face again, then, seeing Evan about to call the final number, tipped the whole cup back and drank it in one gulp.

Gulp—

The moment Sam Su finished drinking, he immediately turned aside and started vomiting. The weird taste mixed with cigar ash churned his stomach violently.

Watching Sam Su’s miserable state, Liz Ji couldn’t say a single word.

Once Sam Su was done vomiting, he quickly poured some more tea and started rinsing his mouth at the table.

After a long while, Sam Su finally recovered, forced himself to stand before Evan, and bowed again. "Master, my men really don’t have any sense. Please forgive them. I’ll personally teach him a lesson later, I swear he’ll never cause you trouble again!"

After speaking, Sam Su carefully glanced at Evan.

Seeing Evan remain silent, Sam Su finally relaxed. After all, Rory Hammer was his subordinate, and the earlier kicking and beating was just for Evan’s sake.

Otherwise, if Evan had done it himself, Rory probably wouldn’t even know how he died.

"Master, when did you get back? Why didn’t you let me know? I could’ve welcomed you properly." Sam Su forced a smile, still scheming in his heart.

Right now, Evan Lin was the expert who crippled Swordmaster Cui. For the Su family, whose strength was a bit lacking, he was the perfect ally.

"I haven’t been back long. Skip the welcome party, don’t give me more trouble."

Evan’s words left Sam Su a bit embarrassed. He scratched his head, then noticed Queenie Tong standing nearby. Suddenly, something clicked and he grinned at Evan.

"Master, are you interested in Serena Tong? I’ve heard of her before—she’s got a good reputation in the industry, very clean. How about I let her accompany you tonight?"

Sam Su said this.

Liz Ji’s face changed instantly. "Su-ge, you can’t! Serena—"

"Did I say I was talking to you? Who do you think you are, interrupting me?" Sam Su turned to Liz Ji, his expression hardening. Gone was the humble attitude he showed Evan; now he was all mob boss authority.

That one look from Sam Su made Liz Ji choke up, her heart racing with fear.

"You’re just an agent. Do your job and keep quiet about things that aren’t your business!"

Liz Ji was frozen in place by Sam Su’s words, not daring to speak again.

At that moment, the fan meeting outside seemed to be wrapping up. On stage, Serena Tong turned around, took a group photo with the fans, and then headed backstage.

She wore a gentle smile. As she pushed open the door, she saw Liz Ji at the entrance, several people collapsed on the floor, Sam Su practically groveling before Evan Lin, and Queenie Tong standing there looking sweet and obedient.

On the sofa, the quietly seated boy looked calm and unruffled. When the door opened, he simply raised his head and glanced at her.

"That’s her, Master. Let her accompany you tonight, do whatever you want!" The moment Sam Su saw Serena Tong, his eyes flashed with amazement, but he didn’t dare go too far.

Since she was now Evan Lin’s woman, Sam Su didn’t dare have any designs on her.

Whether it was Serena Tong’s looks, figure, or delicate skin, even with Sam Su’s experience with countless women, she was better than most heiresses.

"And you are?" Serena Tong asked curiously, her voice soft and light. She looked at everything in front of her, but showed no surprise.

"Sis! The Master can help cure you later!" Queenie Tong rushed over, grabbed Serena’s hand, her face full of excitement.

On the side, Liz Ji’s face was pale. She frowned deeply but didn’t dare say a word.

"Go to her room tonight."

Evan Lin paused for a moment, then slowly stood up.

Evan meant he would treat Serena’s illness that night, but to Sam Su and Liz Ji, it sounded like something else entirely.

"Alright, alright!" Sam Su nodded, then turned to Rory Hammer. "Xiao Luo, clear out everyone living on Serena’s floor, and the two floors below. Make sure no one bothers the Master, got it?"

"Got it, I’ll go right now!" Rory Hammer clutched his stomach and hurried out to get it done.

Rory pushed open the door. The fans outside had mostly been cleared out by security. He looked a mess but rushed off, afraid of any delay.

Not far from the lobby, Stella Huang sat on the steps, lost in thought.

"Stella Huang, right? Last time you went undercover and helped the cops crack a student trafficking case. You sure made a splash! What happened today—couldn’t get an interview with Serena Tong?" A male reporter stood over Stella, looking down on her with disdain.

"That’s right. Stella used to be the star reporter, and how could she fail to interview Serena Tong? Who is she anyway? She’s just an intern reporter!" Another female reporter laughed as she walked over.

They had all grabbed the chance to ask Serena a question and could report back to their editors.

Stella Huang had been squeezed out and didn’t get a chance to speak to Serena at all.

Hearing their words, Stella felt a wave of grievance and discomfort.

She could already imagine her supervisor pinning the blame on her when she got back, and her internship ending right there.

"Still crying? Don’t bother—maybe if you wait downstairs all night, you’ll get lucky and Serena will talk to you. Haha."

Most of these reporters were the ones who’d been overshadowed by Stella’s undercover story last time. Now, they all laughed at her.

At that moment, the backstage door was pushed open.
