Then I Will Kill Him First

In the eyes of most Human martial artists, Martial Saints are already the pinnacle of existence. As for Martial Gods—they exist only in legend.

But a select few know that Martial Gods are real—they simply haven't appeared in the world for many years, so most people have forgotten them.

The Human Race has three Martial Gods, each residing in one of the three forbidden lands: Oblivion Peak, Heavenreach Sea, and Mistveil Cliff.

Because these three Martial Gods have existed for so long, nobody knows their real names. People call them by the names of their secluded lands: the Oblivion Martial God, the Heavenreach Martial God, and the Mistveil Martial God.

The three Martial Gods have not interfered in worldly affairs for many years, so people have gradually forgotten their awe-inspiring power. But now that Niall Nian claims to be the Mistveil Martial God’s disciple, many hearts shudder—could a Martial God be about to reappear?

For a moment, everyone’s gaze toward Niall Nian grew more serious, and quite a few people started thinking about how to win his favor.

Just then—

A voice rang out: "Pardon my boldness, but what proof do you have that you are the Mistveil Martial God’s disciple?"

Everyone looked up and saw that the speaker was Tanner Nangong, Sect Master of Heavenly Dragon Sect.

"And how should I address you, sir?"

Tanner Nangong looked a bit stifled, while Xander Xuanyuan and the others wore faintly worried expressions.

With the Military Council about to fall, no one expected Elder Nian’s grandson to be the Mistveil Martial God’s disciple. Now things were complicated—thanks to the Mistveil Martial God’s reputation, the Military Council might rise from the ashes.

Elder Chu and the others, however, were delighted—they saw hope for the Military Council to reunify the Human Race.

“There’s something you all probably don’t know,” Niall Nian’s voice rang out again.

At once, everyone’s eyes fell on him. Xander Xuanyuan and the others sensed trouble brewing.

Niall Nian continued: “My master once served as an elder of the Military Council. Although he doesn’t concern himself with worldly affairs now, I don’t think he wants to see the Military Council destroyed!”

The moment he said this, Xander Xuanyuan, Tanner Nangong, Harvey Huangpu, and Adrian Zhuge’s faces all changed dramatically.

If word got out that the Mistveil Martial God had once been an elder of the Military Council, who would still dare oppose it? To rebel against the Military Council was to rebel against a Martial God—and if you angered a Martial God, there would be nowhere left in the world to hide.

“Young Master Nian, you shouldn’t speak so rashly!” Adrian Zhuge stared intently at Niall Nian, watching every subtle change in his expression.

Niall Nian’s expression remained calm and steady, but suddenly a trace of contempt flickered at the corner of his mouth. “How could I make up stories about my master? Of course, this senior is free not to believe me!”

Adrian Zhuge fell silent, but his mood was especially heavy. Just as the Military Council was about to be toppled, a Martial God’s disciple appeared at the last moment. Should they keep opposing the Council, or submit once more?

The other seven domains were less affected, since they hadn’t led the opposition. But for the East and South Domains and Sanctum Martial Academy, even if they returned to the Council’s banner, they wouldn’t escape punishment.

The only option was to resist to the end—but doing so might provoke the Martial God’s wrath.

Others might not understand how terrifying a Martial God could be, but the Three Heavenly Sects knew all too well. After all, the Heavenly Dragon, Heavenly Elephant, and Heavenly Tiger Sects were formed from the split of the ancient Heavenly Gate, which was founded by a Martial God.

That’s why their sects’ ancient records included detailed descriptions of Martial God-level power.

A Martial God is a god among martial artists, possessing the power to destroy heaven and earth, overturn rivers and seas.

The ancestor who founded Heavenly Gate was besieged by dozens of Martial Saints before his breakthrough, but at the critical moment, he broke his shackles and ascended to the Martial God realm.

After becoming a Martial God, his power increased a hundredfold. With a wave of his hand, he defeated those dozens of Martial Saints.

In addition, the sects’ ancient records also describe battles between two Martial Gods.

That battle shook heaven and earth—mountains collapsed, rivers changed course, space shattered. After the battle, the region became a forbidden zone, filled with countless spatial rifts. Even Martial Saints who entered would be unlikely to survive.

For the rest of the banquet, Niall Nian became the undisputed center of attention, with leaders of all sorts of factions scrambling to curry favor.

As for Xander Xuanyuan and the others, they left full of worries.

After the banquet, Niall Nian and Elder Nian had a private conversation in the study.

“Grandfather, with my strength I could easily kill Xander Xuanyuan and the other three. Once they’re dead, the High Heaven Alliance and the Three Heavenly Sects would collapse!” Niall Nian said, a little unwillingly.

Elder Nian shook his head. His grandson was certainly strong and noble, but lacked experience in dealing with people.

So he said, “Wuji, you’re oversimplifying things. Whether it’s the High Heaven Alliance or the Three Heavenly Sects, they have deep foundations. They wouldn’t collapse just because a few people died—in fact, it would only enrage them!”

“So what if they’re enraged? Would they really dare attack me?” Niall Nian scoffed.

Elder Nian said seriously, “You’re wrong to think that way! Maybe the High Heaven Alliance and the Three Heavenly Sects wouldn’t attack you, but Leon Huang absolutely would. With the Military Council’s remaining strength, we can’t possibly oppose the East and South Domains.”

“He wouldn’t dare!” Niall Nian said angrily.

A trace of disappointment flashed in Elder Nian’s eyes. “Maybe most people wouldn’t dare, but he definitely would. That brat is famous for his recklessness. If he really led the East and South Domains against us, what could we do? Even if you’re strong enough to fight ten Martial Saints, the East and South Domains have at least a hundred!”

“Then I’ll just kill him first!” Niall Nian’s eyes flashed with murderous intent.
