Entanglement

1/11/2026

While Ian Song was training his marksmanship over at the SWAT base, the army’s recruitment team arrived at the School of Business, accompanied by the local Armed Police Battalion.

Although the Federation had been established for centuries, war was still ongoing.

As a result, the military’s influence had grown larger each year, gradually overshadowing the government.

The group went straight to the principal’s office.

The principal was already waiting outside his office door.

After some brief greetings, Donna Dong immediately handed the principal a list. "Everyone on this list is a new recruit needed by our 96th Division."

The principal took the list and glanced through it, finding more than a hundred names—almost every fifth- and sixth-level Warrior in the School of Business, plus the only Psychic Adept, Tang Shucheng.

But when he noticed one name, the principal frowned slightly. "Captain Dong, this Landon Lu has already joined Los Angeles SWAT. He probably won’t be able to come back to school."

"What? Landon Lu joined Los Angeles SWAT!"

Donna Dong exclaimed, her face twisting with frustration. She cursed inwardly: That bastard actually snuck off and joined Los Angeles SWAT behind my back! No way—I won’t let him join SWAT!

"Principal, when did Landon Lu join Los Angeles SWAT? Has he officially started yet?" Donna Dong asked.

"I think he started today," the principal replied.

"Principal, please call him right now! Landon Lu has to join our 96th Division!" Donna said urgently.

"Uh..."

The principal looked a bit awkward. Sure, Los Angeles SWAT wasn’t as prestigious as the army, but Landon had already started. For the army to try to snatch him now felt a little overbearing.

"Captain Dong, don’t be unreasonable!"

A steady voice rang out—it was a middle-aged man, the major in charge of this recruitment drive.

"Major Long, I’m not being unreasonable. Landon Lu really is a rare talent," Donna Dong explained.

"Even if he is, he’s already joined Los Angeles SWAT," Major Long replied, his tone growing stricter.

"Fine!"

Donna Dong was incredibly frustrated.

Half an hour later, all one hundred-plus names on the list had assembled, but in the end only a little over fifty actually signed up for the army.

It wasn’t that the 96th Division didn’t want the rest; most of them already had other plans. For example, Tang Shucheng had been recruited by the Zhou Family, so of course he couldn’t join the army.

Eight o’clock in the evening.

Ian Song headed back to his apartment. He’d spent the whole day at the SWAT base, training and getting familiar with procedures. After work, he took Amber Liu out for dinner.

But as he approached the entrance, he saw someone standing there. Who else could it be but Donna Dong?

Donna Dong was now dressed in full military uniform, looking sharp and heroic.

"What are you doing here?" Ian asked in a low voice.

"Why did you join Los Angeles SWAT?" Donna demanded, still fuming.

"Why shouldn’t I join?" Ian shot back.

"How about you quit?" Donna said.

"Why should I quit when I just started?" Ian replied impatiently.

"If you quit, you can join our 96th Division."

"Not happening!"

Ian said flatly, then opened the door and walked inside.

"Why not? I’m a company captain now—if I look out for you, you’ll get promoted fast," Donna chased after him.

"Not interested," Ian replied, unconcerned.

"Jerk!"

A rush of wind came from behind. Ian suddenly darted forward several meters, then spun around to glare at Donna. "What are you trying to do?"

"I’m here to teach you a lesson!"

As they spoke, Donna Dong lunged again, swinging a punch at Ian.

"Are you done causing trouble yet?"

Ian snapped, his tone a little odd.

Donna froze in mid-motion, her eyes briefly dazed before clearing up again. She stared at Ian in shock. "Were you just trying to hypnotize me?"

Ian was a bit surprised—he hadn’t expected that using just 1 point of mental power wouldn’t work on Donna.

"So what if I was!" Ian retorted, clearly annoyed.

"That’s awesome! Does that mean you’re already a Psychic Adept?" Donna asked excitedly.

Ian nodded.

Seeing Ian nod, Donna grew even more delighted, cursing, "Landon Lu, you’re such an idiot! You’re a sixth-level Warrior and a Psychic Adept—if you joined our 96th Division, you’d get at least a second lieutenant’s rank! And you still ran off to join SWAT and drive me crazy!"

At this point, Donna looked genuinely exasperated.

"I do what I want!"

Ian replied coldly.

"Hmph!"

Donna snorted, but didn’t say anything else. Her eyes darted around rapidly—clearly plotting something.

Ian couldn’t be bothered to deal with her anymore and headed straight into the apartment, but Donna followed right behind.

"Why are you following me?"

Ian turned to look at her.

"Because I feel like it!" Donna said, chin held high.

"Suit yourself."

With that, Ian went into his room and slammed the door shut.

Seeing this, Donna Dong could only grind her teeth in frustration.

Back in his room, Ian logged onto the LightNet and searched for news about the One-Eyed Bandit.

Sure enough, he found plenty of news stories about the One-Eyed Bandit.

The One-Eyed Bandit had been active for over five years, committing more than a dozen major crimes—always stealing valuable items.

Bang bang bang!

Someone knocked heavily on the door.

"Landon Lu, I’m starving! I want food!"

Ian ignored her.

Bang bang bang!

The knocking sounded again. "Landon Lu, get out here and cook for me!"

Ian frowned but still didn’t respond.

But Donna was relentless.

She kept banging and yelling for over ten minutes without stopping.

Finally, Ian had no choice but to open the door and glare at Donna. "What do you want?"

"I’m hungry!"

"If you’re hungry, go eat at the restaurant."

"I want your cooking!"

"Not happening!"

"If you don’t cook for me, I’ll keep bothering you!"

With no other choice, Ian headed to the kitchen. Seeing this, Donna flashed a triumphant smile.

Soon, Ian brought out a bowl of noodles.

"Are you seriously just giving me noodles?" Donna complained, clearly dissatisfied.

"Eat it or don’t," Ian said gruffly, pretending to take the bowl away.

"I’ll eat! I’ll eat!"

Donna hurriedly grabbed the bowl.

She took a bite, and her eyes squinted in delight. Deep down, she thought, "How does this guy make noodles taste so good?"

Slurp slurp!

In less than five minutes, Donna had polished off the entire bowl—including the broth. Looking pitifully at Ian, she pleaded, "I’m still hungry. Can you make me another bowl?"

Ian hesitated for a moment, then headed back to the kitchen.

A little while later, he brought out another bowl. Donna rushed up and grabbed it, eating with pure bliss.
