Emerald Immortal Empress’s God Tribulation (Part Three)
Evan Chu had no idea about the middle-aged man who'd appeared in the sky; right now, his entire focus was locked on Jade's second tribulation bolt. Ascending to the God Realm was no joke—one misstep meant total annihilation.
Roxanne Lin and Goldwing didn't even dare to breathe. The tribulation clouds overhead radiated such terrifying majesty that fear welled up from deep inside, forcing them to subconsciously retreat dozens of steps.
Jade was always stunning, and now she hovered in midair, her robes fluttering heroically in the wind. But this was no time to admire her beauty—the coming tribulation bolts would only get more powerful.
Soon, the second tribulation bolt appeared—a blast of blue lightning. Seeing it, Evan Chu realized it was a Five-Element Tribulation, meaning Jade faced only five bolts. If she survived all five, she could ascend to the God Realm.
Jade attacked the descending lightning just as before, but this bolt was almost half again as large as the previous fire lightning, and its power was much greater. She had to use ninety percent of her strength just to resist.
With a decisive strike, Jade split the water lightning in two—one half smashed into the ground, blasting open a massive crater and shaking the earth, while the other hit her directly. She had set up an energy barrier around herself, and as soon as the water lightning touched it, the bolt vanished without a trace.
Even though the lightning vanished, some of its force was absorbed. Jade was slammed down onto Skyflight Terrace, blood gushing from her mouth. After several breaths, she struggled back to her feet, refusing to stay down.
Just as Evan Chu was about to rush up and check on her, Jade urgently shouted, "Young Master, don't come up! Setting foot on Skyflight Terrace means you're declaring yourself ready to face a Heavenly God Tribulation. This isn't a joke—be careful!"
"How do you feel? Is there any danger?" Evan Chu asked anxiously, only now realizing the true function of Skyflight Terrace.
"I'm not dead yet. The third bolt should be manageable, but after that, I can't say. This is a Five-Element Tribulation—one of the better types for ascending to the God Realm. If it were Nine-Heaven Divine Thunder, we'd be in real trouble. Don't worry too much," Jade replied, forcing a smile.
Evan Chu glanced at Jade and saw her clothes torn in several places, exposing patches of pale skin. Her breathing was shallow but steady, and her hair was a tangled mess, wisps of white smoke curling from it—proof of the tribulation's brutality.
Evan Chu stayed silent. He knew all too well the taste of tribulation lightning—back when he weathered the artifact tribulation for Frostbane Divine Palace, he nearly died. All he could do now was hope Jade could push through.
Jade swallowed a Jadeheart Lotus seed from Evan Chu, then sat cross-legged on Skyflight Terrace to recover. The third bolt wouldn't descend right away, so using this time to restore her strength was the wisest move.
After half a stick of incense, Jade stood up and soared into the air again. The tribulation clouds churned overhead, their oppressive majesty making it hard for anyone to breathe.
Jade gazed solemnly at the clouds above. She figured she could handle the third bolt, had a fifty-fifty shot at the fourth, but for the fifth, it was up to fate. In her heart, she hoped Evan Chu could help her through the last hurdle.
Soon, the third bolt came crashing down—Earth Thunder, its crushing pressure the main force. Jade threw everything she had at it, but this time, she couldn't split the bolt. The thick, barrel-sized Earth Thunder struck her square on.
Boom! A deafening crash erupted atop Skyflight Terrace. Jade lay motionless, making it impossible to tell if she was alive or dead.
Evan Chu's anxiety spiked, but he couldn't step onto the terrace—he could only watch, helpless. "Evan, Jade won't be in danger, will she?" Roxanne Lin asked, her voice trembling as she came to his side.
"She should be fine. With Jade's strength, she can make it through the first four bolts. It's the fifth one I'm worried about. Right now, only I can help her, so whatever happens next, don't panic. Trust me—I won't let anything go wrong," Evan Chu said resolutely.
"Only you can help her now. I just hope Jade can survive this tribulation," Roxanne Lin said, her heart still racing with fear.
After a while, Jade slowly pushed herself up, her face pale and grim. She looked at Evan Chu and the others and said weakly, "I think I can get through the fourth bolt, but the fifth... that's beyond me. I thought this Five-Element Tribulation would be easy, but it's way fiercer than I imagined."
"Jade, I'll take on the last bolt for you. You just need to survive the next one—I believe you can do it!" Evan Chu promised, his tone serious and full of conviction.
The fourth bolt would be either Wood Thunder or Metal Thunder. Evan Chu had been through a Five-Element Tribulation himself when he obtained the Five-Element Fruit, and he knew that Wood Thunder was the most terrifying. Wood could heal and restore life, but it also symbolized death and decay.
Metal, on the other hand, was indestructible. If it turned out to be Metal Thunder, it could shred Jade's body into countless fragments. Only someone with a truly powerful defensive artifact could survive. Evan Chu was sure Jade had a life-saving trump card, or she wouldn't sound so confident.
The fourth bolt finally appeared—a golden streak of Metal Thunder! This time, Jade didn't rise into the air. Instead, she pulled a black Immortal Token from her storage ring.
The token pulsed with immense energy. Jade sliced open her finger with her sword, dripping blood onto the Immortal Token, then hurled it skyward just before the Metal Thunder descended.
This black Immortal Token was a top-tier, one-use defensive artifact forged by a master Imperial City Alchemist. It could block devastating attacks and was Jade's last lifeline. Even if the token couldn't absorb all the Metal Thunder, the leftover force would be much weaker—she might just survive with one more attack.
As the token soared into the sky, it rapidly expanded into a shield several meters wide. The Metal Thunder smashed into the shield with a thunderous roar, pulverizing it instantly—but the lightning bolt shrank dramatically.
Gritting her teeth, Jade unleashed a desperate sword strike. Her sword-qi collided with the weakened Metal Thunder, splitting it in two—one half crashed into Skyflight Terrace, the other slammed into her body.
Skyflight Terrace shook violently as a suffocatingly powerful aura surged from below, sending waves of fear through everyone present. Jade was drenched in blood, with several wounds cut to the bone, fresh blood pouring nonstop.
But this time, Jade didn't faint. She quickly climbed up from Skyflight Terrace, her voice hoarse but determined: "Young Master, it's up to you now!"
