Failed Summoning and the Approach of the Ten Dread Spirits
Ever since Evan Yang began repairing his artifact, things outside had grown quiet. Lady Raksha had lost her ability to monitor Evan, as if everything had settled down for good.
But this was exactly the calm before the storm—a silence so deep it was frightening.
Grandmaster Adrian "Left-Edge" Zuo and Grandmaster Marcus "Armybreaker" Po were now standing at the entrance of Evan's world-realm. Both gazed out at the Chaos World. Left-Edge sighed, "Still no news."
"It really makes you anxious. If they don't come out soon, the Chaos World might be in for a major upheaval," Armybreaker said.
"You actually believe it's real?" Left-Edge asked. Armybreaker replied, "Yeah, at this point, almost everything has happened. The appearance of the Heaven-Cold Seed will bring disaster. That's another reason we've been tracing its origin. But now, the news has been cut off, and we still haven't found the person behind the World-End Society—that's a real problem."
"Exactly. Even if our formations are powerful, we can't cover the entire Chaos World, much less protect all the innocent world-realms," Left-Edge said.
Armybreaker said, "Actually, what worries me most is that gap in the Chaos World. Even though we've sealed it with our formations, if someone forces it open, the Chaos World will fall into catastrophe."
"Yeah, that ticking time bomb is a real headache," Left-Edge muttered.
"So what should we do now?" Armybreaker asked. Left-Edge glanced at him and said, "Wait. Since the World-End Society is so focused on Evan, they're bound to come back."
"I'm wondering, if they find out Evan's Heaven-Cold Seed is no longer under their control, what will they do?" Armybreaker chuckled.
"Speaking of that kid, I really admire him. I never expected that back then, my mirror image would pass on Heaven’s Eye Sight to him," Left-Edge said with a smile.
"I never thought my disciple would teach him these things," Armybreaker said, smiling.
Left-Edge smiled, and soon both grandmasters felt their gloomy mood lift. With Evan around, it seemed like any problem could be solved.
About three months later, a thunderous roar suddenly erupted from Evan’s world-realm, shaking the heavens. Everyone in the realm was shocked, thinking something major had happened.
Left-Edge and Armybreaker exchanged glances and hurried to the source of the sound. When they found it was coming from Evan’s formation, Left-Edge asked curiously, "What’s going on?"
"I don’t know, maybe he’s cultivating. Let’s not disturb him—if we interrupt suddenly, it could be trouble," Armybreaker said.
Left-Edge nodded, and the two of them stood guard outside the formation.
Inside, the scene was different. Evan sat with his eyes closed, holding the Limitless Spear, clad in armor that had actually transformed from the Strange Spiral Shell. This shell could not only absorb many artifacts, but could also change into various forms.
Once Evan finished repairing it, the Strange Spiral Shell automatically transformed into this armor, and a vast power flooded into Evan’s body, causing him to let out that roar.
At this moment, Evan’s body underwent major changes. The Heaven-Cold Seed had completely vaporized, leaving no physical form—its qi mixed with Evan’s blood, forming a special bloodline.
Outside, after waiting for a long time, Left-Edge asked, "It’s been a while—why isn’t he coming out yet?"
"Don’t rush," Armybreaker said thoughtfully.
At that moment, Evan was feeling frustrated. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to come out, but his whole body was numb and immobile due to the power still pouring in from the Strange Spiral Shell.
Elsewhere, Lady Raksha received new orders: Evan’s Heaven-Cold Seed had awakened, and she was to quickly bring a special artifact to control him.
At that moment, Lady Raksha had already arrived in Evan’s world-realm. She took out an artifact that emitted faint green light, about the size of a palm—like a miniature lighthouse.
"Phantom God Tower, it’s up to you. Now is the moment the Heaven-Cold Seed awakens—whether Evan can be subdued depends on you," Lady Raksha said with a smile, then flickered into the world-realm.
The moment Lady Raksha entered, Evan sensed her, but he couldn’t move—he could only watch as she moved about his world-realm.
Using the artifact as a guide, Lady Raksha located Evan’s position. But seeing Armybreaker and Left-Edge there, she retreated to a nearby uninhabited planet, injected power into the artifact, and began summoning the Heaven-Cold Seed. The green light grew larger and larger.
Not only that, the green light enveloped the entire planet, slowly expanding until it spread to the planet where Evan was located.
After noticing the green light, Left-Edge and Armybreaker frowned. Left-Edge asked, "What’s going on?"
"No idea," Armybreaker shook his head. Left-Edge said to Armybreaker, "Stay here and guard him. I’ll go check it out."
Armybreaker nodded, and Left-Edge left, heading toward the source of the green light.
By now, the green light had already wrapped around Evan’s formation, even shining onto his body. Evan only felt the Heaven-Cold qi inside him start to stir, but nothing serious happened.
"So this is the artifact meant to control me? Too bad—the black-smoke contamination was cleansed long ago. I’d like to see how they plan to control me now," Evan sneered inwardly.
Meanwhile, Lady Raksha frowned. More than half an hour passed, but Evan still didn’t respond—this was far beyond her expectations.
She tried several more times. When she sensed Left-Edge approaching, she flickered out of the planet’s space. Left-Edge gave chase, but Lady Raksha didn’t want a direct fight—she had more important things to do.
"I don’t want to fight you. Let me go," Lady Raksha said coldly.
"You think you can just leave? Since you’ve come today, you’re not leaving," Left-Edge said coldly. He had already laid down formations around her, but Lady Raksha realized that if she relied only on her own strength, it would take time to break out—she’d be trapped. So she snapped, "Left-Edge, don’t push me. Let me go."
"I won’t let you go. Since you’re here, don’t even think about leaving today," Left-Edge said coldly. Lady Raksha gritted her teeth, took out her formation-shuttling artifact, and with a swipe, stepped outside the formation.
"Damn, I forgot she still has that artifact," Left-Edge said angrily as he saw Lady Raksha slip away. He chased after her, but she had already escaped from the world-realm.
Furious, Left-Edge returned to where Evan was. When Armybreaker saw him come back, he asked, "What happened?"
"It was Lady Raksha. Unfortunately, she escaped again," Left-Edge said angrily.
"That woman is really slippery," Armybreaker grumbled. At that moment, members of the Yang clan—including Gavin White and Brocade—also arrived outside Evan’s formation, having noticed the abnormal roar.
Gavin White asked, "Seniors, is he alright?"
"He’s fine for now, don’t worry," Armybreaker reassured.
Gavin White and the others relaxed after hearing this. Meanwhile, Lady Raksha was not so calm—she returned to her secret chamber, stood before the screen, and reported, "Master, I don’t know why, but even after using the Phantom God Tower, he didn’t respond at all."
"Impossible. The Phantom God Tower should be able to summon him. Did you use it incorrectly?" the Master asked, puzzled.
Lady Raksha explained what happened in detail. The Master grunted, "Could it have failed? Impossible. I’ll immediately send the Ten Dread Spirits to assist you."
Lady Raksha was shocked when she heard this. The Ten Dread Spirits were powerful soul entities cultivated by the Master—each could contend with a nine-hundred-strand Heavenly Dao expert. All ten appeared before her.
Excited, Lady Raksha said, "Yes, I’ll definitely complete the mission."
Soon, ten flickering soul bodies appeared before Lady Raksha. She said, "Let’s go."
The ten soul entities followed Lady Raksha as she returned to Evan’s world-realm. When Evan sensed ten powerful, strange auras appear, he tried to warn Left-Edge and Armybreaker to evacuate, but found he couldn’t.
Looking at the world-realm, Lady Raksha swallowed a special pill and was immediately freed from the local law restrictions, able to unleash her full strength—almost nine hundred strands of Heavenly Dao Intent. Evan was shocked; he recognized this kind of pill. He’d used one before, given to him by the Wood Temple Lord, but only now did he understand its purpose.
As for the Ten Dread Spirits, they were even stranger. They didn’t need the pill at all and were unaffected by the world-realm’s laws. Lady Raksha simply said to them, "Let’s go."
With the Ten Dread Spirits, Lady Raksha no longer bothered to sneak around. When Left-Edge and Armybreaker sensed eleven powerful auras, they looked up to see Lady Raksha returning with ten strange figures.
"Lady Raksha, you dare come back!" Left-Edge said coldly.
"Left-Edge, this time I’m not alone. I have the Ten Dread Spirits. No one here can stand against us. If you value your lives, leave quickly—I only want Evan," Lady Raksha said coldly.
Left-Edge snapped, "Dream on! We’d rather die than let you succeed."
Armybreaker had already started activating formations, and Left-Edge wasn’t idle either. Soon, the whole planet was wrapped in layers of arrays. Seeing this, Lady Raksha sneered, "Left-Edge, don’t forget what artifact I have. Formations are useless against us. I can go wherever I want—what do you think?"
Left-Edge was shocked. "Damn, her artifact lets her bypass formations. That means our arrays are completely useless against her."
"What do we do?" Armybreaker was alarmed. If the Ten Dread Spirits attacked together, there was no way the two of them could hold off such powerful enemies—their strength mostly relied on formations.
