Only Luke Kee Can Remove the Love Hex
"You two circle around and wait for a chance to rescue him," Grace instructed. "I'll go talk to them myself."
"Be careful, Chief!" Lucas Hua and Rina Chu said in unison.
Grace walked in and called out, "I'm here! Where are you?"
"Right on time," came a voice from the lakeside pavilion.
Grace walked over and saw the kidnapper, Nina Sanders, along with her mentor.
Nina Sanders was a young man with sharp eyebrows and starry eyes, radiating an air of rebellious charm.
Jun Lionhead was tied to a pavilion pillar, his face deathly pale, clearly having suffered.
"Who are you? Why did you kidnap my mentor?" Grace demanded.
"So, you're Grace Lawrence?"
"That's right! I'm Grace Lawrence!" Grace frowned. "If you have a problem, take it up with me! Let my mentor go!"
"I want something," Nina Sanders said. "If you give it to me, I'll let him go."
"What is it?"
"The Ten Wilds Herbal Codex."
Grace's heart skipped a beat—how did he know about that?
"Bring me the Ten Wilds Herbal Codex, and I'll trade it for your mentor's life!" Nina Sanders threatened. "Otherwise, he won't survive!"
"What even is this Ten Wilds Herbal Codex?" Grace asked. "I've never even heard of it!"
"Drop the act!" Nina Sanders sneered. "Remember Mr. Grant?"
"Mr. Grant?"
"That's right! He's got the Love Hex."
"So?"
"I'm the one who planted the hex on him."
"What? Why would you do that?" Grace demanded angrily.
"Because only Luke Kee can remove the Love Hex," Nina Sanders said. "In other words, only the Ten Wilds Herbal Codex contains the method to lift it."
Grace shot back, "...That's awfully presumptuous! In a world this big, with so many people, how do you know for sure that only Luke Kee can cure the Love Hex?"
"And what about the Winterbane Poison!" Nina Sanders retorted. "Is there anyone else who can cure that?"
Grace's eyes widened—he even knows about that...
"Grace Lawrence, are you going to make the trade or not?" He pointed at Jun Lionhead, whose forehead veins bulged instantly.
Grace bit her lip and asked, "First, tell me—who are you?"
Know yourself and your enemy if you want to win.
She knew nothing about this man.
"Nina Sanders."
"And your identity?"
"I could just make something up, and you wouldn't know if it's true or not, would you?" Nina Sanders said. "Why bother?"
Grace fell silent for a moment, then said, "The inheritance left by Luke Kee isn't a physical book. It's a spiritual legacy. If I want to read it, a book appears in my mind, but you can't see or touch it. How am I supposed to give it to you?"
"You're lying," Nina Sanders said flatly. "He was already gravely injured at the time. How could he possibly transfer so much knowledge into a spiritual legacy?"
"I have no idea! All I know is, there's no actual book."
"So, you don't care about your mentor's life?" As soon as he finished, Jun Lionhead's face twisted in pain, blood trickling from his lips.
"Mentor!" Grace's eyes turned cold. "Nina Sanders, I can copy it for you."
"I want the original. Not a single page missing!"
Grace said nothing.
"Not giving it?" Nina Sanders nodded. "Fine—"
"I'll do it!" Grace blurted out. "Just don't hurt my mentor!"
At her words, Jun Lionhead's gaze deepened.
Would she really hand over the Ten Wilds Herbal Codex for him?
"Wait here, I'll go get it," Grace said, glancing at the lake.
