Kidnapping the Divine Lord Really Works
"Don't try any tricks! I've seen the real thing from Luke Kee."
"You've seen it?" Grace stared at him in surprise.
Luke Kee lived more than five hundred years ago. If he's seen it, does that mean this guy has been alive for at least five centuries?
What kind of power is that?
Oh no!
Just as that thought flashed through her mind, Rina Chu and the others burst out of the water.
Lucas Hua and three other members of the Falcon Squad lunged at Nina Sanders, while Rina Chu rushed to rescue their mentor.
But in that instant, they all spontaneously combusted!
Even though they'd just climbed out of the lake, dripping wet, their bodies were suddenly engulfed in Blue Blaze—like the fire was burning up from inside them.
Instantly, everyone screamed in agony and rolled across the ground.
"Rina! Lucas!" Grace rushed over, unleashing her elemental power and shoved them all back into the lake.
Slowly, two bodies floated to the surface of the lake.
They were two members of the Falcon Squad.
"Rina! Lucas!" Grace screamed, her voice raw with anguish.
A charred head popped out of the water, face pitch-black, hair burnt like it had been chewed by a dog. "President, we're okay," she said.
It was Rina Chu.
She dragged Lucas Hua with her left hand and another Falcon Squad member with her right.
Clearly, she'd just saved both of them.
Even so, the two were barely clinging to life, unable to speak.
Grace hauled them onto the shore, then spun around angrily to face Nina Sanders.
Nina Sanders flashed her a grin. "This is called Blue Blaze—just the weakest fire spell I know! I can also wield True Inferno and Sixfold Divine Fire! If a spark touches you—just like this!"
A flickering red flame appeared on her fingertip. She pointed at a Falcon Squad member lying on the ground, and the moment the flame touched him, his whole body erupted in blazing scarlet fire, instantly reduced to ashes—not even a bone left behind.
"That's True Inferno. Ordinary water can't put it out!" Nina Sanders smiled, bringing the flame close to Jun Lionhead. "I'm counting to ten. Hand over the Ten Wilds Herbal Codex, or I'll turn your mentor into ash!"
"Ten, nine, eight..."
"No need to count! Wait here, I'll get it!" Grace cut her off.
Nina Sanders arched her brow and stopped counting.
Jun Lionhead glanced at Grace, his eyes narrowing.
Grace closed her eyes and entered her sanctum.
Then, a book materialized in her hand. "This is the original Ten Wilds Herbal Codex. Release my mentor first, then I'll give you the book."
With a dramatic sweep of her sleeve, Nina Sanders freed Jun Lionhead, who collapsed to the ground.
He'd always been the picture of calm and grace, almost otherworldly, but now he looked utterly disheveled.
"Mentor!" Grace cried, tears streaming down her face. "I'm sorry you had to suffer because of me!"
Jun Lionhead slowly got to his feet. He looked at her tears but said nothing.
"The book?" Nina Sanders asked.
Grace's heart ached with reluctance, but she couldn't ignore the lives of her mentor and so many others.
At least she still had a handwritten copy.
She tossed the original Ten Wilds Herbal Codex to Nina Sanders.
Nina Sanders opened it and saw—it was real...
It was truly the Ten Wilds Herbal Codex.
And the page they wanted was perfectly intact.
Turns out, kidnapping Jun Lionhead actually works...
"The Alchemist God left a will: whoever gets this book must never use it for evil, or the heavens will strike you down!" Grace glared at Nina Sanders, enunciating every word.
"Relax, I don't do evil—only good!" Nina Sanders smiled. "Jun Lionhead, you're free to go!"
