Two Women Captured

"That's right, I'm indeed here to meet a client." Joe Di nodded.

Echo Young believed Joe Di this time. "Joe, meeting Benson Ji isn't easy. Even if I help you find Benson Ji's house, you won't be able to get close. His home is guarded with real guns, and anyone who approaches at night will be shot on sight."

"You've never tried your luck at Benson Ji's house?" Joe Di was a bit skeptical.

Benson Ji was so wealthy, and Echo Young, to put it plainly, was just a thief. Since he was a thief, how could he pass up such a fat sheep as Benson Ji?

Echo Young replied earnestly, "Joe, you must think I'm a thief, but what I want to tell you is, I'm really not. I earn my money openly, and people transfer it to my account of their own free will. I never target good people like Benson Ji, and even if I did, there'd be nothing to gain."

Seeing Joe Di still didn't get it, Echo Young didn't explain further but said, "From what I can tell, Joe, you've probably never met anyone from the Ji Family before, right?"

"That's right." Joe Di didn't even know which direction Benson Ji's gate faced, so of course he'd never been to his house.

Echo Young chuckled, "If that's the case, sneaking in to find Benson Ji's house is pretty much like my own luck-seeking—just trying your fortune. You must have heard someone might be able to cure Stanley Ji, Benson Ji's direct grandson, so you came to deliver the news and make a little money, right?"

"You're not wrong." Joe Di smiled. "So, will you help me or not?"

Echo Young was already impressive to have figured out this much. As for being a doctor, not even Echo Young—probably no one—would believe Joe Di could cure Stanley Ji.

"Joe, if you trust me, then don't go tonight. Not only is your disguise poor, but if you go like this, you'll definitely end up getting shot." Echo Young's words carried a hint of excitement.

Joe Di was certainly skilled, but Echo Young relied entirely on his own talent to come and go freely here. If he could learn martial arts from Joe Di for a while, it would greatly benefit his future plans.

"Do you have a way to help me?" Joe Di looked at Echo Young with suspicion.

Echo Young chuckled, "Benson Ji has a granddaughter named Sophie Ji, who's currently studying at Yanda University. She's very concerned about her brother. If you start by getting to know Sophie Ji, things will go much more smoothly."

"Alright, thank you." Joe Di agreed with Echo Young's idea.

......

On the way back, Joe Di learned what it meant to be a specialist. Echo Young not only had an inflatable kayak, but also drove himself around to seek opportunities.

Logically, someone like Echo Young, who sneaks around, should drive a small, inconspicuous car. But Echo Young drove a roaring, high-powered Wild Bull off-road vehicle, which thundered through the night.

"Joe, in my line of work, the worst thing is to be timid and hesitant. The more secretive our business, the more we need to be bold in public. Driving this car reminds me that once I step out of it, I have to be extremely cautious." Sitting in the driver's seat, Echo Young seemed to no longer treat Joe Di as an outsider.

"How exactly do you seek opportunities?" Joe Di asked casually.

Echo Young chuckled again and pulled a tiny camera from his pocket. "A lot of people here aren't clean. I use this camera to capture evidence of their wrongdoing, then copy it and send it to them along with my bank account information."

Joe Di stared at Echo Young in astonishment. This guy was a real talent, using his gifts to find such a fitting line of work.

Echo Young seemed to guess what Joe Di was thinking, and his smile faded. "Actually, my line of work is dangerous. I always go out in the dead of night. I've almost been caught several times. Last night, I ran into two big shots. Luckily, they didn't notice me. If they had, I'd probably be dead for nothing."

"What happened?" Joe Di, though once a privileged heir in Pearl City, was always the one bullying others, never the one bullied. So he didn't understand much about Echo Young's line of work.

Echo Young lowered his voice. "Last night, my target was Yanzhen Workshop. Around one in the morning, I was hiding in a banyan tree outside. Then I saw a car stop right under my tree, and two women coming out of Yanzhen Workshop were grabbed and thrown into it. I overheard the guys in the car talking—do you know who they were? The Unfalsifiable himself."

"Who's The Unfalsifiable?" Joe Di asked in surprise. He hadn't known Echo Young long, but sensed he wasn't a timid guy. Yet even he sounded nervous mentioning The Unfalsifiable.

Even though no one outside the car should've overheard, Echo Young still lowered his voice. "The Unfalsifiable's real name is Quentin Jia. It's normal you haven't heard of him—he's infamous in the underworld and well connected with African mercenary leaders. I know he runs a business in Luojin called Peace Arena. Very few people know this; I only found out because of my work..."

"Peace Arena belongs to The Unfalsifiable?" Joe Di asked in shock, then added, "I heard Peace Arena was run by Zhengsheng Bi. How could it belong to The Unfalsifiable?"

Echo Young sneered, "Zhengsheng Bi is nothing. He may have some skills, but he's just The Unfalsifiable's dog. The Unfalsifiable is the real power—wherever he goes, he gets the utmost respect. Rumor has it that years ago, the European oil tycoon Tovi punished one of his disciples, and that tycoon mysteriously died in his mansion. His assets were gradually transferred or acquired, and according to my brother, most of Tovi's assets ended up in The Unfalsifiable's hands."

"You have an older brother?"

Echo Young's eyes dimmed. "Yes. Back when my brother and I worked in Pinghai City, we didn't do anything respectable, but we made a living with our skills—gathering intelligence for anyone, domestic or foreign. Later, my brother took a job investigating a secret about the Bei Family. He was silenced for it. If he hadn't protected me with his life, I would've been killed too."

After speaking, Echo Young turned to Joe Di. "Joe, I usually operate in the shadows. But I have sharp eyes, and I'm telling you this because I believe you're trustworthy. I also hope to become your disciple. I know you must be well-educated and might look down on..."

Joe Di laughed heartily. "I used to be a spoiled rich kid myself. I wouldn't call myself a paragon of justice, but I'm not some scheming villain either. Go on, tell me where The Unfalsifiable took those two women. As for learning martial arts, that's a small matter. Once we get to your place, as long as you have the aptitude, I can teach you."

Ever since Joe Di learned about the path of immortality, the Di Family Seven Blades had lost much of its importance in his mind. Echo Young was clearly well-connected, and Joe Di would need his help in many areas. Besides, Echo Young's temperament suited Joe Di. Passing on a few blade techniques to him wouldn't be out of the question.

Echo Young perked up. "Yes, Joe. I heard those guys say the women they caught were fugitives from Luojin, and that someone surnamed Di had come to Beijing to join forces with Sister Green Wan against the Di guy... Wait, Joe, isn't your surname Di?"

Joe Di patted Echo Young's shoulder, half smiling. "You're right. The person they're after is me. You know The Unfalsifiable is my enemy—do you still dare to learn martial arts from me?"
