Demon Island

After losing three Mid Heavenly God subordinates, even though it was confirmed that the three were killed by Aosoul beasts, Brennan Cliff still suspected Ian Song was involved. He harbored doubts, but didn't dare make another move.

After all, losing three Mid Heavenly God subordinates was a real blow; it had taken him a lot of effort to cultivate them.

Meanwhile—

Ian Song had nearly drunk himself silly in Old Aaron's courtyard. Luckily, it wasn't far from home; he staggered back to his own courtyard and collapsed straight into bed.

When he woke up, it was already the next day.

As for his worries about multi-fold Heavenly Tribulation, he’d already tossed them aside and wasn’t thinking about it at all.

Ten days later.

Ian Song finished another mission and returned, heading to the God-Demon Corps’ Quest Hall to hand it in.

“Lord Ian, you’re honestly the most hardworking Five-Star God-Demon I’ve ever seen!” said the female Five-Star God-Demon helping him with the mission handover. Though she was also Five-Star, she was only at peak Upper-Rank God, so she called Ian ‘Lord.’

“Nothing I can do—I just want to reach Six-Star God-Demon as soon as possible!” Ian replied with a smile.

“Then Lord Ian must have enough God-Demon Merits by now!” the woman said with a smile.

“God-Demon Merits? What’s that?” Ian asked, looking puzzled.

The woman was taken aback. “Lord Ian, you mean you didn’t know? To get promoted to Six-Star God-Demon, you need not only to complete the required missions, but also to earn enough God-Demon Merits! You have to go to the Merit Hall and take merit tasks to earn them!”

“So that’s how it works. Thanks for the heads-up—otherwise, I’d have no idea!” Ian smiled at her. “By the way, how many God-Demon Merits do I need to get promoted to Six-Star?”

“No problem! It’s my honor to help you, Lord Ian. You’ll need five thousand God-Demon Merits to get promoted to Six-Star!”

After finishing the task handover, Ian headed straight to the Merit Hall.

The Merit Hall was huge, but there weren’t many people around.

He glanced around and saw quite a few merit tasks posted on the mission walls.

He wandered over to one of the merit mission walls and looked up: Task—go to Liyang Prefecture branch and serve as deputy commander. Ten Merits per year, duration: one hundred years. Requirement: Five-Star God-Demon with late-stage Upper-Rank God cultivation.

A hundred years for just a thousand Merits? Looks like these so-called Merits are really hard to earn.

So, Ian walked over to another mission wall: Task—go to Lusheng Prefecture branch and serve as commander. Twenty Merits per year, duration: two hundred years. Requirement: Five-Star or Six-Star God-Demon with Lower Heavenly God strength.

Ian browsed several more mission walls—most of the tasks were just office jobs in branch divisions, or even posts at headquarters, but the Merit rewards were all way too low.

Task: Hidden. Reward: Two thousand God-Demon Merits. Duration: Three months.

This task’s Merit reward was much more up Ian’s alley, but the mission content was hidden—he’d only find out after accepting it.

Since the God-Demon Corps had set this mission as hidden, it was probably either too dangerous, or involved a major power.

"Should I take it or not?"

After a brief hesitation, Ian decided to take it. There were plenty of tasks in the Merit Hall, but very few that offered two thousand Merits in just three months.

Having made up his mind, Ian reached out and took the mission crystal, probing it with his divine sense to unlock the hidden task details.

Task details: Capture the daughter of the Snowsun God-King. The Snowsun God-King once pledged himself to the God-Demon Corps, but later betrayed them and escaped with his daughter to Demon Island. After entering Demon Island, the Snowsun God-King disappeared.

The Snowsun God-King’s daughter is named Mira Skylar. Her cultivation: peak Lower Heavenly God. She currently resides on Demon Island.
