Words on the Wall

Maxwell Jing glanced at him and clicked his tongue, "Don't let people think the Ghost Guild's members are so poorly behaved!"

Upon hearing this, the man hurriedly scrambled up, turned around and said, "I didn't see anything, you two carry on!" Then, looking dazed, he strode off in large steps.

Maxwell Jing raised an eyebrow and praised, "See, Ghost Guild members really do have high standards!" Uh... That changed a bit too quickly!

Turning to Ethan Gu, Maxwell Jing smiled wickedly, "Cold Beauty..."

Ethan Gu's face darkened and he said in a low voice, "Think carefully!"

Maxwell Jing nodded vigorously, "I've thought it all through!" As he dragged Ethan toward the room, he added, "Don't be shy! It's not the first time, you know!"

Ethan Gu kept a cold face, but stopped struggling. After all, he would make sure to pay Maxwell Jing back double!

Meanwhile, Morgan Shangguan received two messages. After reading the notes in her hand, she casually crushed them, turned to Damien Gray, smiled at him, then got up and sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and gently kissing the corner of his mouth.

Damien Gray watched her every move, raising his eyebrows. That look—she was clearly up to something!

Morgan didn't speak right away, just continued to kiss him slowly. Damien Gray half-closed his eyes, pretending to know nothing, while also taking full advantage of her, waiting for her to speak.

Morgan Shangguan let out a snort. "You mean you plan to spend it bit by bit!"

Damien Gray showed not a hint of embarrassment, replying matter-of-factly, "Isn't that the same thing?"

Morgan frowned at him for a moment, then asked directly, "What will it take for you to tell me?"

Damien smiled and pressed a kiss to her lips, laughing softly. "If you want information, this alone isn’t enough." He knew perfectly well that they had to be on guard for the hidden hand in the shadows; Morgan simply didn’t want to waste effort investigating, so she chose to get the answer from him. A benefit delivered to his doorstep—how could he refuse?

Morgan arched her brow. "Tell me first—where is the Imperial Silver hidden?"

Damien hesitated. "What if I tell you and you don’t give me my reward?"

"The Guildmaster always keeps her word!"

Damien lowered his gaze. "It’s on the back mountain of Grandmaster’s Estate!" The flash in his eyes went unnoticed by Morgan.

Morgan frowned, cupping his face and scrutinizing him with suspicion. "You’re not lying to me?" Why was he so agreeable all of a sudden?

Damien smiled. "I have no reason to lie to you. Grandmaster’s Estate has always prided itself on righteousness, never doing anything unchivalrous, and has always been on good terms with the court. No one would suspect the Imperial Silver is hidden there!" Besides, it’s close to the Ghost Guild.

And if someone does find it, well, it’ll be a headache for that hypocrite Maxwell Jing!

This petty man never forgot how Maxwell Jing once tried to steal his woman!

Morgan narrowed her eyes. "You’d better not be lying to me, or the Guildmaster won’t be so nice to you!"

Damien took her hand, brought it to his lips, and kissed it, his smile full of mischief. "No need for Cloud Guildmaster to be nice to me!"

Morgan tried to get up, but Damien held her close. "Morgan, I’ve told you—now where’s my reward?"

At his words, Morgan arched a brow, wrapped her arms around his neck, and leaned in for a kiss. But just as Damien was about to deepen it, Morgan suddenly pushed him away.

Seeing Damien’s disgruntled expression, Morgan pressed her forehead to his, laughing breathlessly. "That’s all the reward you get!" She kissed him once more, then departed with a flourish.

Damien propped his elbow on the stone table, resting his head in his hand as he watched her leave, shaking his head with a sigh. "Such a loss!"

In the dead of night, when all was silent, a shadow flitted through the Grandmaster’s Estate, always just a fleeting blur, unnoticed by anyone.

Suddenly, the shadow stopped before a room, dark eyes darting as a frown creased her brow. She couldn’t help but peek inside—what was that sound?

Looking down, she saw a plump, white mouse jump out through the crack under the door, landing right on her foot.

Her eyes widened instantly. She kicked the mouse off her foot, stifling a scream, and was about to leave when she suddenly found herself unable to move!

Maxwell Jing stood at the doorway, his seductive, almond-shaped eyes narrowed as he sized up the wooden post before him. Then he beckoned, sighing, "Xiao Bai, why are you so naughty, running out here? You almost got yourself squashed! If you died, Xiao Hei would be heartbroken!" As he spoke, he picked up the plump, white mouse.
