The next morning, as soon as daylight broke, Evan Yang walked out from his own room and glanced around. He saw someone already standing in front of Tanner Shaw’s door.

Looking more closely, he realized it was Lexi Lynn, lost in thought as she stood there.

Evan knew she was definitely waiting for Tanner Shaw again. Tanner, though injured, wasn’t the type to just sleep in—he was surely hiding somewhere, not wanting to come out.

For Evan, this was a good opportunity. He walked over and called out to Lexi, pulling her out of her reverie. “Brother Yang, you’re up early.”

It was the first time Lexi Lynn sounded so warm and friendly, almost like a friend. Evan smiled slightly. "Waiting for someone?"

"Yeah, waiting for him. But you’re already up, and he’s still not." Lexi sighed.

Evan nearly choked—what did she mean, he was up but Tanner wasn’t? Still, he held back and asked, "Miss Lynn, can I ask you something?"

"What is it?" Lexi hadn’t expected Evan to ask her anything, so she smiled curiously.

"That girl you brought the other day—who is she? What’s her background?" Evan asked suspiciously.

Lexi looked at Evan in surprise when he brought this up. "Last time was my fault—it had nothing to do with her."

Yang Han saw she misunderstood, so he smiled and said, "You've got it wrong. I just want to know about her."

"Well..." Ling Xiaoxiao replied awkwardly, not quite sure how to explain.

"What's wrong?" Yang Han asked, curious.

"I don't know much about her either, but I do know she's got quite the background." Ling Xiaoxiao admitted she didn't know much about the woman.

"What's her name, and how did you two meet?" Yang Han hadn't expected Ling Xiaoxiao to know so little about her.

"Her name? I actually don't know. She just told me to call her Sister Rose. As for how we met, it was just a random encounter when I was out traveling. She wasn't familiar with Northridge Star at all, and since she seemed friendly, I chatted with her and gave her a quick intro to the planet. In the end, she said she wanted to visit Purple Sky City, so I brought her here and even arranged the best inn for her." Ling Xiaoxiao told Yang Han everything she knew.

After listening, Yang Han muttered, "So that's how it is."

"Are you interested in her?" Ling Xiaoxiao laughed at Yang Han's expression.

"Just curious," Yang Han smiled, but in his mind he remembered that day by the lake—the masked woman who had effortlessly brushed aside his attack.

Ling Xiaoxiao was about to keep asking when, behind the door, Xiao Tiange opened it. Seeing Yang Han there too, he finally relaxed and said, "Why are you two up so early?"
