Evan Chu felt a bit disappointed. He’d spent most of the day wandering the streets of Lumastream City and still hadn’t spotted anyone from Dream Spirit Sanctuary, Solarion Palace, or Skyshade Hall. Instead, he kept catching a lot of schadenfreude-filled glances from passersby, which struck him as odd.
Now and then, he could even hear people quietly gossiping about him. Evan figured it must be news of the tavern killing spreading through Lumastream City. He didn’t care, though—anyone who dared provoke him would only end up with one fate: death!
Not long after, a familiar figure suddenly appeared in front of Evan. “Damn, finally ran into someone I know. Weird how none of the big factions showed up for this auction.”
Evan strode quickly over, clapped the man on the shoulder, and grinned: “Blazefire, what brings you here?”
The man was none other than Blazefire Immortal Lord. At first, seeing a stranger dare pat his shoulder, he was about to lose his temper—until he realized something about the youth felt oddly familiar. Especially the way he’d called him Blazefire.
He stared at Evan for a moment, then said, “Wait—are you Boss Linfeng?”
“Good eye, kid. So, any idea what treasures are up for grabs at this Lumastream City auction?” Evan laughed.
“No clue. I just got here myself. When did you arrive? How’s your cultivation coming after all these years? Our Domain Lord still brings you up all the time, you know,” Blazefire Immortal Lord replied.
“I just arrived too. But earlier, some idiot in a tavern tried to mess with me—so I killed him. Trouble’s probably coming soon. Whatever happens, don’t get involved, unless you want disaster to land on your head,” Evan warned.
Blazefire Immortal Lord glanced at Evan and said, “With your disguise, I really wouldn’t have recognized you. In the whole Immortal Realm, you’re the only young guy who dares call me Blazefire. If something happens, how could I just sit back and watch? You’re seriously underestimating me, Evan.”
Evan smiled faintly, pointed up, and said, “Didn’t expect trouble to show up this fast. Looks like I’ll have to kill a few more people.”
Blazefire looked up and saw two mid-stage Immortal Lords in the air, flanked by dozens of uniformed City Lord’s Mansion guards. He immediately said, “You’re not actually going to kill City Lord’s Mansion people, are you? Lumastream City’s lord, Ray Lumen, is a mid-stage Immortal Emperor—he’s famous across the Immortal Realm.”
“I’m not scared. So what if he’s a mid-stage Immortal Emperor? If he pisses me off, I’ll kill him too. I’m not someone anyone can push around—you know I came back this time to take out Hector Vaughn. Ray Lumen’s just the perfect test for my current strength,” Evan said.
“Linfeng, what realm are you at now? You’re really saying you’d dare kill a mid-stage Immortal Emperor? You’re not messing with me, are you?” Blazefire Immortal Lord asked, a bit skeptical.
“My realm isn’t that high—about mid Immortal Lord. But I like fighting stronger opponents. Just stay out of it and enjoy the show,” Evan laughed.
Just then, one of the airborne men spotted Goldwing perched on Evan’s back and immediately dropped down in front of him. “Kid, did you just kill someone in that tavern?” he demanded.
Evan glanced at him and smiled. “Nope. Why accuse me of murder? I’m a law-abiding immortal, you know.”
"He’s the one who killed Man Niu—we saw it with our own eyes!" A woman’s voice suddenly rang out from the crowd. She quickly pushed to the front; it was the same woman who’d tried to snatch Goldwing for herself.
“Kid, you dare lie to an Immortal Lord? You’ve got guts! Guards, execute him on the spot—anyone who kills in Lumastream City has only one end: death!” the Immortal Lord barked.
Two guards rushed forward—they were only early Ninth-Heaven Arch-Immortal Realm, but without a word, they drew their swords and attacked Evan.
Evan didn’t dodge or move; he just stood there and even laughed. “So this is how Lumastream City treats a young master like me? I guess I should feel honored.”
The crowd kept growing. When they saw the two guards’ swords, crackling with fierce sword-qi, slash toward Evan, many people couldn’t help but shut their eyes, convinced he was about to be decapitated. No one expected this youth to be so reckless, daring to kill in Lumastream City.
Even dumber, he wasn’t dodging—he still had time for sarcastic remarks. Even Blazefire Immortal Lord at Evan’s side was stunned, itching to step in and block the attack, but Evan shot him a glare that made him freeze.
The guards’ swords landed on Evan, but a faint golden light flashed over his body. Instead of being decapitated, Evan stood there unharmed—while the two Ninth-Heaven Arch-Immortal guards collapsed, each with a fist-sized bloody hole in their chests.
The sudden turn stunned everyone. The two guards had died without anyone seeing how the youth struck—people just stared at Evan in shock.
To kill City Lord’s Mansion guards was to show utter contempt for Ray Lumen, Lumastream City’s lord. Many in the crowd wondered who this youth was, but most guessed he must be the mysterious Evan Chu who’d appeared in Newcapital City.
“Kid, you’ve got a lot of nerve—killing City Lord’s Mansion people means you’re dead for sure!” the Immortal Lord roared at Evan, voice harsh and furious.
“Dead my ass! Didn’t you see he tried to kill me? If you want to kill me, you’d better be ready to die too. Looks like you’re itching for it—are you sure you’re prepared?” Evan said with a cold, mocking smile.
“Courting death!” The Immortal Lord exploded with rage, his sword leaving a blur as he slashed at Evan. Evan just turned to Goldwing on his shoulder and said, “Kill them all. Since things have gotten this far, let’s make it big—I love a good spectacle.”
Goldwing immediately took off from Evan’s shoulder. With a flash of gold, dozens of guards and both Immortal Lords collapsed in the blink of an eye—then Goldwing landed back on Evan’s shoulder, perfectly steady.
In just an instant, over a dozen skilled experts were slaughtered. Yet these so-called experts were like tofu before this youth—he finished them off as easily as snapping his fingers.
Blazefire Immortal Lord stared in horror at Evan and Goldwing. “What kind of flying demon beast is that? Its attack power is insane—this is terrifying!”
