Sorry, I Failed to Protect You

A massive figure, like a wild beast.

He moved at incredible speed, descending from above. The raging wind and fierce energy swirling around him radiated a sharp killing intent.

It all happened in an instant.

A terrifying force smashed straight toward Blake Lin’s head!

But Blake Lin didn’t even spare the attacker a glance.

He simply waved his hand lightly.

It was just like swatting a fly.

His palm, which seemed to have no force at all, landed directly on the attacker’s body.

A thunderous boom echoed out.

That figure was sent flying, crashing into a shop by the street and collapsing four entire walls!

"The power of a mere first-grade Pointing-to-Mystery isn’t worthy of showing off in front of me."

Blake Lin shook his head slightly, his voice indifferent and chilling.

At that moment.

China.

And even the whole world!

All televisions and computers displayed the same image at the exact same moment.

Every screen showed the same scene.

At that exact moment, all displayed the same image.

"What is this? Are they shooting a movie?"

"Who is that guy? How did he just do that? He swatted something away with one hand!"

"Whoa, that’s so cool!"

In that instant, countless people witnessed the scene through every kind of media.

Millions of people stared blankly, confused.

Nobody understood what the footage meant.

But a small portion already felt a wave of terror.

"First-grade Pointing-to-Mystery strength—he treats it like it’s nothing?"

"Who is this guy? Was the person he swatted actually a first-grade Pointing-to-Mystery?"

"Quick, notify the patriarch! Notify everyone we possibly can!"

All the aristocratic clans and powerful houses were now glued to their screens.

They watched as Blake Lin and his group walked toward an old man and a little girl, faces grave and tense.

Even though no one fully understood what was happening yet,

some people could already sense the danger lurking beneath the surface.

"Go home."

Jill Jing pulled her hand free from Professor Gu’s grip and gave him a gentle shove.

"No... you’re coming home with me."

Professor Gu finally reacted, stepping forward to shield Jill Jing as Blake Lin drew closer, forcing himself to speak despite his fear: "What do you want from us?!"

"Do you have the wrong person?!"

"Stop! Don’t come any closer!"

"Security! Security!"

Professor Gu shouted for help.

The security guards had just stepped out of their booth, but before they could react, Gavin Duan—who’d been sent flying—charged out from the ruins, rushing straight at Blake Lin.

His entire body was covered in blood and grime.

Standing nearly two meters tall, with a muscular frame and a wild, beast-like aura, Gavin Duan radiated terrifying energy.

Gavin Duan looked like a raging beast.

Wherever he passed, the ground split open in a long, jagged crack.

With his strength fully charged—and the power of the Gu worm boosting him—Gavin Duan was utterly terrifying.

A dreadful pressure radiated from him.

He lunged at Blake Lin once more!

But—

Blake Lin merely shifted to the side, easily dodging Gavin Duan’s attack.

She grew anxious.

Professor Gu snapped to attention, turned around, crouched down, and tried to scoop up Jill Jing to run.

But as he reached out to grab her...

Before he could even extend his hand, a tremendous force slammed into him, sending him flying a great distance.

"It's better not to let too many people get involved in this."

Blake Lin spoke in a deep voice: "To be honest, we don't really understand your identity."

"But the spirit spring is within you. I hope you'll cooperate and hand it over."

"Hand over the spirit spring, and I can take you back to the Lin Clan. You'll be imprisoned for life, but at least you'll survive. How about it?"

Blake Lin sounded almost as if he were negotiating.

Jill Jing stomped through the snow, running to Gavin Duan, who lay on the ground, his body pierced by rebar.

She knelt down, carefully inspecting his wounds, her eyes growing red.

"Jill..."

"I think... I'm about to die."

"I'm sorry..."

"I'm sorry..."

"I couldn't... protect you."
