“Old man, you really are sharp. Yeah, I wiped out that grievance cloud—something that should never have existed in the first place. Of course I had to destroy it, unless you think I’d just hand it over to you? Too bad you two didn’t fight each other to the death, or I could’ve snatched some extra benefits!” Evan Chu laughed, voice full of swagger.
Now that his attempt at stirring up trouble had been seen through, Evan Chu didn’t bother pretending anymore. With Jade Chu blocking their attacks, he could totally catch them off guard and cut them down. The only headache was, he didn’t know if both would attack together, or if one would keep up the domain while the other struck. If that happened, he’d be stuck taking hits all day. So right now, he had to figure out a way to make both of them attack him at once.
If they did, their domains would vanish. With Star‑Cleave’s power, even if he couldn’t kill one outright, he could at least smash one up badly—then decide if he needed to bail.
Just as Evan expected, the Ghost Clan powerhouse started to crack after hearing that. He glared at Evan, voice shaking with rage: “Brat, you’ve lied to me over and over—this is the last straw! If I don’t kill you today, I’ll never get rid of this grudge!”
“Heh, old man, you two have been saying that on repeat. If you want to kill me, you’re not even qualified. If you’ve got the guts, then show me what you’ve got! You really think I’m scared of you? I stuck around here on purpose just to wait for you, you know. You really think I don’t see through every move you’re making?”
You think those lame domains can actually hold me? What a joke! If I didn’t have real power, how could I have wiped Grimchart City off the map with just one sword strike? You think I’d dare stand here talking to you two stubborn old fossils otherwise?” Evan Chu laughed, looking completely unfazed.
Evan’s trash talk made the two even more furious. Provoked to the max, they snapped—their plan was toast, and both of them unleashed their strongest martial skills, charging at Evan like madmen.
This was exactly what Evan wanted! As soon as both unleashed their moves, he felt his body unlock. Without a second’s hesitation, he channeled every drop of Chaos Dragon Force straight into his arm—no holding back!
Now that he’d broken through to Second‑Layer Saint Martial Realm, using the Unicorn Arm didn’t leave him crippled anymore—he’d just figured that out! If not, he’d have already teleported out of here without a second thought.
“Jade, it’s all on you!” Evan shouted to Jade Chu inside his storage ring. If the two were still split up, he’d be in trouble—a pincer attack, even with Jade Chu’s defense, could only block one. But now, with both charging from the same direction, as long as Jade Chu held the line, Evan’s Star‑Cleave could blast them both at once.
Just like when he trashed the city lord and commander—even if he couldn’t kill them outright, he could still smash them up bad. Evan was fired up, totally confident in his Star‑Cleave and Unicorn Arm combo.
In a split second, the Ghost Clan powerhouse’s staff shadow and the Shade powerhouse’s crutch shadow came crashing down on Evan, blotting out the sky. The space around him twisted and warped—no black holes, but the whole world seemed to go haywire. Winds howled, killing intent flooded in, and Evan was completely boxed in.
Almost instantly, a flash of cyan light wrapped around Evan, forming a barely-there barrier in front of him—thin as mist, but don’t underestimate it! With these two’s power, there was no way they’d break through.
Bang! Bang! Two thunderous booms slammed into the cyan shield in front of Evan, shaking the world. But Evan didn’t even get scratched—he just felt the barrier tremble a little, not a single crack in sight.
Evan was floored by Jade Chu’s defense—having someone this heaven-defying at his side was like giving a tiger wings! With her shield and his own toughness, who in the Netherworld could hurt him? Maybe only the top dogs of the five major races.
But the Ghost Clan and Shade powerhouses who smashed into that cyan shield were freaking out. Their strike felt like hitting an iron wall—the backlash made their wrists go numb, and they got knocked back several meters. Evan? Not a scratch on him!
“That defense is insane! This kid is seriously something else!” Yang Tian, the Ghost Clan powerhouse, blurted out, eyes wide with shock.
But Evan was already locked and loaded. The moment the two were bounced back, he swung the Frostbane Sword, unleashing a five-element-and-lightning Star‑Cleave. The sword‑qi shadow exploded out, earth-shattering and massive—dozens of meters wide, swallowing both powerhouses whole.
Space twisted again, a world-ending aura crashing down on the two. That attack drained almost all of Evan’s Chaos Dragon Force—he went pale as a ghost, scrambling to pull out a Star Crystal and suck down its energy. Every last drop counted now.
Seeing that monstrous sword‑qi barreling toward them, both powerhouses’ faces turned white as sheets. “Crap! This hit’s way too strong—dodge!” the Shade powerhouse yelled.
Too late! The only thing the two could do was try to dodge, but they were a step behind. Evan’s attack, powered by half his Chaos Dragon Force, was way out of their league. The sword‑qi slammed into them—no instant kill like with the city lord and commander, but both were wrecked, seriously wounded.
The Ghost Clan powerhouse got his arm chopped clean off by the sword‑qi, his whole body shredded with wounds.
Every wound was deep enough to show bone, black blood pouring out. He was sent flying hundreds of meters, crashing to the ground like a broken kite.
The Shade powerhouse was even worse off—both arms gone, body nearly split in two. If he wasn’t so tough, he’d be dead already. His wounds were just as deep, but if you looked close, every bone was shattered, five-element and lightning power ripping straight through.
Evan watched the pair drop out of the sky but didn’t rush after them. Instead, a streak of white light flashed from his brow—a tiny white sword shot down, aiming straight for where they landed, moving like lightning.
Evan glanced down and saw his attack had wiped out the valley below, flattening it into a plain that stretched so far he couldn’t see the end of it, even with his sharp eyes.
Evan knew Luna would finish off the pair and bring back the loot. He hadn’t expected that even with a Unicorn-Arm-powered Star‑Cleave, he couldn’t instantly kill Second‑Layer Venerable experts. If he ran into a Third‑Layer Venerable, he’d probably have to run for his life. He needed more power—and a way to smash through a Venerable’s domain…
