The Temperature Isn’t Enough, Admit Defeat
Evan Yang faced the danger without fear. He refused to believe Liam Blaze could be that formidable. Meanwhile, Darren Fang and Easton Fang grinned, expecting Evan to embarrass himself or even get harshly taught a lesson.
Lena King was startled, worried for Evan's safety. The monkey on Lena's body bounced about energetically, but posed no threat.
"Blocking me with words? You sure have a lot of excuses. If you want to teach me a lesson, just say so." Evan said.
"Kid, I like your attitude, but I still need to teach you a lesson." Liam Blaze replied after seeing Evan's directness.
Evan stood calmly, noticing Lena wasn't in danger and so felt no need to act. Seeing Evan silent, Liam extended a hand, palm up, and a ball of flame appeared.
"Fire? I'm water, so I naturally counter you." Evan laughed.
"So what if you're water? When fire grows strong enough, it can extinguish water! Water beating fire is just the mark of the weak." Liam Blaze said confidently.
"Is that so? Let's see how powerful your fire really is." Evan asked.
"Watch closely." Liam Blaze snorted, and the flame instantly grew larger, then flew around Evan, enveloping him.
Seeing Evan engulfed by flames, Lena King paled, while Darren Fang and Easton Fang burst out laughing. They knew these flames were no ordinary fire.
Under Liam Blaze's control, the Hexa-Flame Cauldron suddenly summoned a massive pillar of fire from the sky, engulfing Evan.
Instantly, flames burned all around Evan, but no matter how fiercely they burned, he only felt a bit warm—nothing else. Thanks to his Ice-fire Sacred Flame, he was completely unharmed. Liam and the others were dumbfounded.
Everyone nearby was nearly roasted, but Evan was perfectly fine.
"Are you done playing yet?" Evan asked.
Liam glared furiously at Evan. Evan glanced up at the Hexa-Flame Cauldron overhead and continued, "This is just a waste. Watch this."
With a wave of Evan's hand, ice instantly formed around the Hexa-Flame Cauldron, which then fell from the sky with a crash, gouging a pit in the ground.
Liam and his cousins were shocked—this was beyond anything they imagined. Evan walked around Liam and said to Darren Fang and Easton Fang, "You should let her go now, right?"
Darren Fang and Easton Fang, frightened, quickly withdrew their barrier. Lena King stepped free and laughed, "You really overestimated yourselves."
Being mocked by a woman, Liam and his cousins were furious, but realized that ordinary methods would not work to subdue Evan.
Liam said to Darren Fang and Easton Fang, "Let's go."
With that, the three left. Evan and Lena glanced at each other, and Evan said helplessly, "Looks like we have to go back the way we came."
"That's all we can do. These guys are so petty," Lena said.
"Can't blame anyone else. Let's go," Evan said, knowing Liam and his cousins wouldn't give up so easily.
Lena only listened to Evan, so she followed him back toward the palace. On the way, they ran into the Fire Walker, who was about to report back. Seeing them, he asked suspiciously, "Why didn't you go to the resting quarters?"
"We played a little joke on the three young masters, so they got upset and left," Evan said with a smile.
These three young masters really are something else. How can they treat guests like this? Come on, I'll take you there,' said the Fire Walker.
Evan and Lena nodded and followed the Fire Walker. After a short walk, they arrived at an abandoned volcano crater, where stone buildings had been constructed.
The Fire Walker said to Evan and Lena, "Only a few volcano craters are abandoned. Knowing you dislike heat, we've renovated these areas around the abandoned volcanoes. Hope you like it."
"Thank you, we like it a lot," Lena said. She finally felt comfortable here—at least it wasn't hot.
Seeing they liked it, the Fire Walker smiled and said, "Good, I won't disturb you. Rest here."
Evan and Lena nodded. After the Fire Walker left, Lena smiled, "This is great. It's so much cooler here than outside."
"Why are you so afraid of heat?" Evan teased.
"You think everyone is like you—afraid of nothing. Even that Hexa-Flame Cauldron couldn't hurt you at all," Lena said.
"That Hexa-Flame Cauldron is definitely impressive. An ordinary person would be skinned alive," Evan said.
"More than skinned—they'd be roasted like meat," Lena shivered at the thought of that heat.
"That's true," Evan replied.
After chatting for a while, Lena asked, "Do you know why my sister came here?"
"Why?" Evan asked, curious.
"You don't know either? I thought you did," Lena said, frustrated.
Evan said helplessly, "Looks like your sister is really good at keeping secrets."
"Seriously, suddenly coming here and running into those damned three. Luckily you're strong, or I wouldn't know how to deal with them," Lena said.
"Be careful from now on. They're not good people," Evan said.
"Now I know. I'll definitely be careful next time," Lena replied.
"Good, then it's fine," Evan replied.
Come on, let's see what's here. We may not know why we're here, but we should enjoy it," Lena said.
Evan was helpless with Lena—how was he supposed to enjoy this place? But Lena insisted on dragging him around to try everything.
Meanwhile, Liam and his cousins sat in a pavilion, thinking about what had just happened.
"That kid is terrifying. He's only Immortal Lord level, but why isn't he afraid of my fire? And it's fire from the Hexa-Flame Cauldron!" Liam said, frowning.
"There are two possibilities," Darren Fang said.
"What are the two possibilities?" Liam asked curiously.
"One, he has a magic treasure. Two, it's his cultivation technique," Darren Fang said.
Liam frowned, "This can't go on. We're the mighty Fire Palace—how can we not handle a mere servant?"
"Any ideas?" Darren Fang asked.
"Yes—have someone harass him," Liam said.
"If everyone knows how strong he is, who would dare harass him?" Darren Fang asked, skeptical.
"Right now, nobody knows. Besides, I just got word—someone lost a hand because of the Water Palace guests. He'll be eager to cause trouble," Liam said, smiling.
"Who?" Darren Fang asked, surprised.
Liam smiled, "He'll be here soon. You all know him."
Soon, the man who lost his hand arrived. Darren Fang and Easton Fang were shocked—they knew exactly who he was. He was a Fire Palace powerhouse, third-tier Emperor, but could defeat sixth-tier Emperors. Handling Evan would be easy. "Greetings, young masters," he said.
"Li Rui, we've heard about your situation," Liam said, pretending to be sympathetic.
"Please, young masters, help me," Li Rui said respectfully, knowing this was his chance for revenge.
Liam said helplessly, "The Water Palace Master and our Fire Palace Master are equals. We can't target her, but the two people with her—one is a man, the other is her sister. You can teach the man a lesson, even get revenge. We'll cover for you afterward."
"Really?" Li Rui said, delighted.
"Of course. Would I lie to you?" Liam said.
"Alright, I'll find that guy and show them. Just because they crippled my hand doesn't mean that's the end of it," Li Rui said coldly.
"They're at Abandoned Volcano No. 5. Go ahead. Don't worry about the Water Palace Master—she's busy talking with our Palace Master and won't show up soon," Liam said.
Li Rui was even happier knowing the Water Palace Master wouldn't be there. He could teach them a lesson and thanked the young masters, "Thank you, I'll go now."
Li Rui left respectfully. Darren Fang and Easton Fang said nothing, but having grown up with Liam, they quickly guessed his plan and couldn't help but admire him.
Feeling admired by the two, Liam smiled, "Let's go clean up the mess later."
Darren Fang and Easton Fang nodded, "Yes."
The three continued discussing their next steps. Once things were confirmed, Darren Fang and Easton Fang were delighted, while Evan had no idea the man with the crippled hand was already on his way.
