The Girl Who Sells Herself to Save Her Father

"Silver Dragon, does it really cost this much to enter the city? Looks like they don't use Violet Cloud Crystals or Godstones in this sea region!" Evan Chu sent a secret voice transmission to Silver Dragon.

He noticed that the people entering the city were handing over a bright, crystal-like currency, which seemed packed with energy—just like a Water Spirit Crystal. He didn't know what it was called, but figured it must be the energy crystal the Sea-Clan used for cultivation.

"Don't worry, Young Master. I've got some of those crystals on me. When I was absorbing sea qi from those Sea-Clan people, I made sure to grab a few. Who knew they'd come in handy now?" Silver Dragon said.

Evan felt a bit embarrassed—he really lacked experience here. But with the energy crystals Silver Dragon had collected, getting into the city wouldn't be a problem.

Silver Dragon split the crystals with Evan. Evan picked one up and inspected it closely—it was about the same as a Violet Cloud Crystal, just a different color. "Let's go in!" he said.

When they reached the city gate, all the guards stared at Evan and Silver Dragon, their eyes full of awe. Evan noticed everyone else handed over a crystal to enter, so he got one ready to pay the entrance fee.

But when he offered it to the guard, the guard didn't take it. Instead, he bowed respectfully and said, "Young Master, you're too polite. It's Sea-Sky City's honor to welcome you—how could we possibly charge you an entrance fee? Please, go right in!"

Evan was momentarily stunned. Did he look like some bigshot's son? He quickly dismissed the thought—it was probably just because he had a perfect human form. Who would've guessed that being human-shaped was so prized in the Sea Regions? What a surprise.

Silver Dragon got the same treatment—he didn't have to pay the entrance fee either. So this city was called Sea-Sky City. The name was pretty bold, but who knew what kind of place it really was.

The two of them entered the city. The wide streets were packed with people—strange-looking Sea-Clan of all shapes and sizes hustling everywhere. Street vendors lined both sides, hawking their goods nonstop, just like the bustling cities in the Immortal and God Realms.

Evan and Silver Dragon were both curious about the Sea Regions' specialties, so they picked a crowded spot to watch. The vendor was an old man with a heavy turtle shell on his back and a beard at least a foot long—clearly ancient.

Spread out before him were dozens of odd items—no weapons or pills, just various seabed crystals and minerals.

"Old man, how much for this Blacksand Glazegold?" a Sea-Clan buyer asked.

"Thirty Water Spirit Crystals!" the old man replied immediately. Only then did Evan realize that the crystal-like currency was called Water Spirit Crystal.

"I'll take it!" The Sea-Clan buyer handed over the Water Spirit Crystals and took the palm-sized black stone. Evan and Silver Dragon had never seen this 'Blacksand Glazegold' before—maybe it was a forging material. After watching for a bit and finding nothing special, the two moved on.

There were plenty of restaurants and inns along the street, but they didn't have many Water Spirit Crystals, so there was no point wasting money on food—if they couldn't pay, it'd be embarrassing.

Just then, a noisy commotion came from up ahead, quickly drawing a crowd. Evan and Silver Dragon followed the swarm of people to see what was happening.

Getting closer, they saw a fish-headed girl kneeling on the ground, crying. Beside her lay a middle-aged man, barely alive, covered in blood—either gravely wounded or struck by some strange illness.

Evan glanced at the girl and noticed she was different from the other fish-headed Sea-Clan—she actually had two legs, not a fish tail. Most people here had tails and hovered about a foot above the ground as they moved.

The girl's figure was excellent—long legs, a tall, curvy body that drew a few stares. But Evan wasn't interested; he already had more than enough beautiful women in his life. He was just curious about what she was doing.

On top of that, her clothes were simple and worn—probably too poor to pay for her father's treatment, so she resorted to begging on her knees. Maybe she was even trying to sell herself to save him.

"That girl's from the Merfolk, but she has two human legs—that makes her the lowest kind of mermaid. Now she's trying to sell herself to save her father? Ridiculous! Who would want trash like her?" one Sea-Clan onlooker sneered.

"Just look at her father's injuries—they've dragged on for ages. Without a pile of Water Spirit Crystals, there's no way to heal him. Even if someone bought this useless girl, it'd never cover the cost. If it were me, I'd let him die quietly somewhere and bury him in secret," another Sea-Clan said coldly.

The more Evan listened, the more confused he became. How could a mermaid with two legs be considered trash? She could walk freely, after all. Did having legs somehow hinder cultivation? It was all pretty strange.

"Kind sirs, I beg you—please save my father! Only you can help him. I’ll do anything, work myself to the bone if I have to. Please, I’m begging you!" the girl sobbed to the crowd.

But no one stepped forward—everyone just watched for entertainment. Evan couldn't stand it. He didn't really want to get involved, but ignoring her felt wrong. Besides, maybe talking to her would help him learn more about the Sea Regions.

Healing the merfolk man would be a breeze for Evan—a bit of wood element energy and a healing pill would do the trick. If it was poison, his dragon blood could cure it, unless it was some ultra-rare toxin like the one Nisha used. But that was impossible; who would waste such a deadly poison on someone like this?

Silver Dragon saw Evan’s expression and quietly asked, "Young Master, are you thinking of helping that man?"

"That's right. You handle this—just bring the girl with us. I'll take care of the healing," Evan replied.

Silver Dragon didn’t want Evan getting involved, but he had to obey. He walked up to the girl and said, "My Young Master is willing to save your father. Come with us—he’ll find a way to help him!"

Only then did the crowd notice Silver Dragon was a human-shaped elder. No one dared say a word—everyone backed away, sensing the aura of a late-stage God-Lord expert radiating from him.
