Schemes Between Two Powerhouses

The figure in silver armor radiated a mix of spiritual power and murderous aura—one look told you he'd killed more than a few people.

The silver glow, infused with spiritual power, pulsed with killing intent. His face was icy as he stared at Evan Yang and snorted, "Fiend Palace, Seventh-Rank General Ross."

"Seventh-Rank, huh? You guys really love your rankings. So what about you two in yellow armor—what rank are you?" Evan Yang grinned at the two wounded men.

"We're Eighth-Rank, and the one you killed was Eighth-Rank too!" the axe-wielder snapped.

"I already told you, I didn't kill that guy. If you're going to frame me for it, then I'm not holding back. But I don't want to play with you right now—bye!" Evan Yang scoffed, then flashed away at top speed.

Ross snorted coldly. "Trying to run? Net him!"

Suddenly, a net-shaped magic treasure blocked Evan's path. "Not good!"

Seeing Evan stop, Ross sneered. "Trying to leave? Not a chance! You think Fiend Realm is easy to mess with? No matter what, we're dragging you back to answer for your crimes today!"

"Question your sister—you're all unreasonable idiots." Evan Yang sneered.

That line infuriated all three, especially Ross. He stretched out his hand, slowly clenching it into a fist, and the net around Evan began to tighten, as if Evan was a fish caught and slowly reeled in by the fisherman.

Seeing this, Evan Yang punched the net. It felt soft, rebounding under his fist only to spring back into shape.

"You think brute force will break it? Laughable. This is my magic treasure—made for trapping people like you who try to run. You wouldn't believe how many idiots got caught by it." Ross laughed as Evan tried to punch his way out.

The other two, seeing Evan's top speed was useless and he had nowhere to escape, started grinning too.

Seeing their smug faces, Evan knew fists wouldn't solve it, so he pulled out a dagger, planning to cut through the net.

"Rusty? Kid, you've got to be kidding. Using a rusty dagger as your weapon? Let me tell you, unless it's an immortal artifact, nothing sharp will work. Is your dagger an immortal artifact? Is it?" Ross mocked, and the other two burst out laughing too.

Evan was secretly pleased to hear only an immortal artifact could break it, but his daggers were sealed—he wasn't sure if they could unleash that kind of power. Still, he had no other options, so he had to try.

He gripped the dagger tightly and struck with all his strength. The dagger collided with the net, producing a burst of smoke.

It looked like friction was making the smoke. The three watched, curious, as Evan kept at it and waited for the smoke to clear.

When the smoke finally cleared, they were stunned—a hole had opened in the net, and Evan had already flown out through it.

Their divine sense caught Evan's figure darting away, and his voice echoed in their minds: "Ross, right? Sorry for wrecking your net—take it home and patch it up. Maybe you can use it for fishing next time."

"You! You! I'm furious—my magic treasure!" Ross withdrew his net and, seeing the hole, raged.

The other two exchanged glances, not daring to speak, afraid Ross might take out his anger on them.

"You two, hurry up and block all the routes between the Human World and Fiend Realm. Strictly check anyone coming or going—don't let him leave the Fiend Realm! I'll issue the notice." Ross glared as he retracted his net.

"Yes, sir!" The two didn't dare slack off and quickly left, while Ross stared in the direction Evan had gone, clenching his fist. "I will catch you!"

Their voices echoed in Evan's mind.

Once he got away from Ross, Evan spent a few days flying nonstop before finally stopping atop a nameless mountain.

"Whew, that guy's strength must be above the Soul-Gathering Realm." Evan paused, looking at his palm from the clash with Ross.

After a short rest, Evan moved on. He didn't dare stay in one place too long, since Fiend Realm people could track him using special methods—just like the Nether Patriarch and that Eighth-Rank General before.

From then on, Evan kept flying, never staying anywhere more than a quarter hour.

Every time Ross used Trial Mountain to pinpoint Evan's location, he'd rush over, only to find Evan gone again—like playing hide and seek.

After dozens of such chases, Evan returned to the Death River—the only place he knew the others wouldn't dare enter.

After some thought, Evan entered the Sky-Piercing Tower and guided it into the Death River, stopping near the edge so he could observe the outside.

Sure enough, within a quarter hour, Ross arrived at the Death River with several Eighth-Rank Generals in yellow armor.

Damn it, he's out of his mind!" Ross shouted.

At that moment, another silver-armored figure stepped forward from the crowd and said, "He's not crazy—he must have a way to freely come and go."

Chiba, what are you doing here?" Ross exclaimed in surprise.

I heard you were chasing a Human World cultivator all over the Fiend Realm, so I came to see for myself—never expected you'd chase him all the way here." Chiba smiled, standing just steps from the Death River.

Hmph, that's because that guy is too cunning." Ross snorted after being mocked.

Enough—I also heard that kid sliced through your Snare Net, which is said to be cuttable only by immortal-grade weapons. So I'm curious what kind of dagger he has." Chiba smiled.

You!" Hearing that Chiba was here for the kid's dagger, Ross was annoyed. Having lost a powerful artifact, he was more eager than anyone to catch Evan and seize his dagger as compensation.
