Chapter 1008: Encirclement and Slaughter

Staring at the Moonlight Deer before him, Anderson’s three faces twisted in frustration. He’d finally gained the upper hand when the magical runes resurfaced on Hubert’s body, only to discover this unexpected turn.

There was simply no way around it. Anderson cursed through gritted teeth and pressed the attack alongside the Patchwork Golem. Hubert, covered in layers of magical runes, kept up the close-quarters assault on the Moonlight Deer.

But this approach—if nothing unexpected happened—could drag on for days and nights with no outcome. In the end, the one to die of exhaustion would definitely not be the Moonlight Deer...

"Damn it, Merlin, hurry up! If we don’t finish this in an hour, we’ll all be spent. Getting wiped out by three herbivores that can’t even fight properly would be humiliating..."

One of Anderson’s faces glanced over to the other side, where Leon was fighting a Moonlight Deer alone—bearing the brunt of the pressure.

Where Leon stood, the ironwood forest for a thousand meters around had already been reduced to ash. Waves of massive magma surged and roared, and Leon—transformed into a towering lava giant—flashed across the battlefield, unleashing violent magma spells at the Moonlight Deer from all directions.

A spectral Violet Drake hovered behind Leon, cradling the enormous wheel-shaped phantom. Countless runes spewed out from the phantom’s surface.

With the Elemental Chapter’s amplification, the Senluo Chapter’s application, and even summoning a level 39 Elemental Dragon from the Fire Elemental Plane using the Elemental Chapter, Leon’s power surged.

The Elemental Dragon summoned now was far stronger than before—a body built entirely of orange fire, high-grade elemental flames from the Elemental Plane. It didn’t even need to act; simply floating in midair distorted the space around it, and the heat from its flames set trees ablaze for hundreds of meters.

Yet, even this formidable Elemental Dragon, against the pseudo-Sky Rank Moonlight Deer, could only serve as a distraction. Its other effect was to greatly intensify the activity and concentration of fire elements nearby—the advanced elemental flames from its plane boosting the power of all fire spells to a new level.

Above, clouds of fire and black smoke gathered, and one meteor after another, trailing long plumes of smoke, crashed down toward the Moonlight Deer.

A barrage of meteors, combined with endless waves of magma spells from all sides, could only manage to suppress the Moonlight Deer—barely.

Leon’s expression was grave. The Mana Harness pushed to its absolute limit, his mana was draining like a flood unleashed. In just moments, he’d nearly exhausted his reserves and would soon need to tap into his demi-plane for replenishment.

Leon’s mana reserves far surpassed those of any Title Archmage—by sheer quantity, he was nearly on par with a Sky Rank mage. Yet now, more than half was gone...

He watched as ripples of light swept across the Moonlight Deer’s scorched and blackened hide. All its wounds, and even its shattered Radiant Crystal Shield, were restored in an instant. The only price: one less energy orb dangling from its antlers. Leon’s face darkened.

If this went on, it’d be a slow, grinding fight—who knew how long it would take to wear the Moonlight Deer down? Judging by the speed at which its energy orbs regenerated, it would take at least three days to kill it outright, and that’s assuming nothing went wrong and it didn’t escape...

With the Moonlight Deer’s speed, even the most powerful spells were all but impossible to hit—utterly meaningless.

Frowning, Leon had the Fire Elemental Dragon engage in close combat, pinning the Moonlight Deer in place.

At the same time, Leon ramped up his spellcasting. The magma pool spun rapidly around the Moonlight Deer, and as the Elemental Dragon wrapped itself around the beast, four molten vortexes formed on all sides. Torrents of magma spells surged in from every direction, crushing down on the Moonlight Deer.
