Wayne Wang stepped off the train, with Victor Zhao quickly hurrying ahead to lead the way. Keaton Wang glanced around, his eyes darting through the crowd until he quickly locked onto someone not far away.
"Over there!"
Keaton Wang's eyes lit up when he saw Evan Lin standing over there.
Keaton used to hang out with Sawyer Summer all the time, but lately Sawyer had been really busy. So Keaton would usually pester Lucy Lu, but recently Lucy's older sister, Lucy Ran, was in a bad mood, so Lucy Lu was always with her and had no time for Keaton, which left him pretty bummed out.
This time, when Keaton heard Wayne Wang was heading to Brightsea, he figured he might get to see Evan Lin, so he tagged along all excited.
"Brother Lin!"
As soon as Keaton spotted Evan Lin, he shouted loudly and quickly ran over.
Charles Chen and the others on that side also noticed what was happening here.
"Chairman Wang is here," Haiyang Sheng quietly reminded Charles Chen next to him.
Charles Chen immediately put on a big smile.
Beside them, Lucy Lu's expression also turned serious.
Xuan Ling, who had been about to drag Yolanda Fang away, paused for a moment and turned to look toward the train doors.
"Chairman Wang?"
Xuan Ling was momentarily stunned.
She really hadn't taken Haiyang Sheng, the general manager of Wansheng Real Estate's Brightsea branch, seriously. After all, even if he was a GM, a branch office of a real estate company—even a big one—was still stuck in Brightsea.
But the main Wansheng Real Estate company was a whole different story. It was a real estate giant spanning all of Seacrest Prefecture, deeply rooted in three major cities for years, with countless projects under its belt. Not to mention, they had launched several Wansheng Plaza developments. If the Su family hadn’t swallowed up the Li family’s assets recently, Wansheng Real Estate would still be bigger than the Su family.
"So it's Wayne Wang, Chairman of Wansheng Real Estate?" Xuan Ling blurted out instinctively.
"Yeah, Chairman Wang came to Brightsea this time to discuss a pretty major deal with Charles," Haiyang Sheng nodded slightly.
Xuan Ling was genuinely surprised by the confirmation. She’d already started walking away, but now she paused and subtly stepped back.
"Haiyang, Charles, I told you there was no need to come all the way out to greet me—it's too much trouble!" Wayne Wang strode forward, his tone hearty and his face all smiles.
"No way! It's rare for you and Manager Zhao to visit Brightsea—we definitely have to show some hospitality as the hosts." Haiyang Sheng laughed heartily.
Charles Chen was delighted to hear Wayne Wang call him "Charles" so warmly—even though, in reality, he and Wayne had barely met before.
"You're too kind, Chairman Wang. It's only right," Charles replied, a little excited. But when he saw Victor Zhao standing nearby, and Jason Zhao with his head down and a bruised face, his expression grew slightly awkward.
Victor Zhao smiled and greeted Charles, then looked over at Evan Lin, who was standing there with a calm face. Victor's heart skipped a beat, and he hesitated for a moment.
Wayne Wang glanced unobtrusively at Evan Lin, then turned to Joy Zheng and the others beside him. "And these are?"
"Oh, this is my wife Lucy Lu, her friend Joy Zheng, then Evan Lin, and this is my daughter Lynn Chen." Charles quickly introduced everyone.
Before he even finished speaking, Xuan Ling had already put on a smile, stepped forward, and looked at Wayne Wang. She reached out her hand decisively: "Chairman Wang, I've heard so much about you. I'm a friend of Manager Chen. My name is Xuan Ling."
"Hello, hello." Wayne Wang glanced at Xuan Ling and shook her hand. He was still smiling, but there was a hint of formality behind it.
That made Xuan Ling feel a bit uncomfortable.
"I read your article in Entrepreneur magazine before. I really admire how you built a real estate company to this scale—truly impressive."
Xuan Ling still wore a smile on her face.
"Mm." Wayne Wang nodded.
Meanwhile, Keaton Wang had already squeezed over to Evan Lin’s side and shouted, "Brother Lin! This punk is here to apologize to you. If you’re still pissed at him, just beat him up—it's totally fine."
"If he dares to fight back against you, I won’t say a word—and Sawyer won’t let him off either!"
Keaton was yelling as he pointed at Jason Zhao standing over there.
Hearing Keaton's words, Xuan Ling felt a bit annoyed, thinking this kid was way too rude. Seeing Keaton call Evan "Brother Lin" over and over, Xuan Ling’s impression of Evan dropped sharply.
Charles Chen felt a jolt of anxiety—he was nowhere near Victor Zhao's level. Victor might not care about Keaton, but if he held a grudge against Charles over this, it would be a real headache.
But just then, to everyone's surprise—including Xuan Ling—Victor Zhao didn’t get angry. Instead, he nodded and smiled, then turned to Evan Lin and said, "My son Jason made a mistake before. I hope this student can forgive him."
After he spoke, Victor looked at Jason. Jason kept his head down, all arrogance gone, stepped forward, and bowed to Evan Lin: "I'm sorry. I was wrong before. Please forgive me!"
Jason spoke loudly, afraid no one would hear him. Compared to saving face, what he feared most was Evan Lin—Nine Mysteries—at that auction!
Lynn Chen, standing nearby, stared in disbelief, and Yolanda Fang looked just as shocked.
Just as Xuan Ling was about to leave with Yolanda, she saw Wayne Wang take a few steps forward.
Xuan Ling happened to be standing right between Wayne Wang and Evan Lin. Seeing Wayne Wang walk her way, she was secretly delighted, thinking she might get to chat with him a bit more.
But to her surprise, Wayne Wang walked right past her and stopped in front of Evan Lin, smiling broadly. "This student here—Jason Zhao basically grew up under my watch. He’s not a bad kid, but young people make mistakes. Now that he’s apologized, could you please forgive him?"
Wayne Wang’s tone was gentle, but he was clearly negotiating—and the person he was negotiating with was just a teenager?
Ling Wei suddenly turned her head, and everyone’s eyes fell on Evan Lin.
Ling Wei was utterly shocked. In that moment, as she glanced at everyone’s faces, she realized that Victor Zhao and Haiyang Sheng didn’t seem surprised at all by this.
How could this boy have the kind of power that made the billionaire CEO of Wansheng Real Estate treat him like this?
But that boy just looked indifferent. He glanced at Wayne Wang and said blandly, "Let him go back now. I can't be bothered to see him again."
