Can You Put Aside Your Pride

"Grandpa, what are you looking at?" Molly Su noticed Victor Su scanning the crowd and asked softly.

Victor Su's gaze swept lightly over that direction, but at that moment, Evan Lin happened to be blocked by Yolanda Fang.

"It's nothing." Victor Su shook his head, looked at Molly Su, and hesitated to speak.

"Grandpa, you don't need to worry about me anymore. In a few days, the Lin family will probably send someone over. Their Jinnan Lin family is very powerful in the region, and they've got the Southriver Sword Sect backing them. Our Su family can't compete."

Molly Su spoke gently. As she said this, her expression was especially calm, as if she were describing something that had nothing to do with herself.

Actually, the Lin family has been trying to arrange a marriage alliance with the Su family for years. In Jinnan, the Lin and Su families have always been like water and fire.

But unfortunately, none of the Su family's younger generation have lived up to expectations, and Molly has been plagued by illness since childhood. So the Lin family is using marriage as a pretext, planning to swallow up the Su family in one move.

Over the years, Victor Su has traveled all over, making several trips to Seacrest Prefecture and even to Medicine King Valley, hoping to find a cure. Medicine King Valley agreed to treat Molly, but their condition was to take over all of the Su family's assets.

To Victor Su, that's absolutely unacceptable—it feels just like being forced to hand over money at knifepoint.

"At first, I thought the Southriver Sword Sect expert the Lin family invited was just a peak inner-strength fighter, maybe a bit stronger, but the latest reports say his power is far beyond what we imagined."

Victor Su sighed, "I came to Seacrest Prefecture hoping to meet the newly risen Evan 'Nine-Mysteries' Lin from a few months ago. Maybe only he could save our Su family from disaster. But I've asked all around these past days, and no one knows where Evan 'Nine-Mysteries' Lin actually is."

"Maybe someone like him—a hidden master—just isn't fated to cross paths with our Su family."

Victor Su's eyes were full of worry and sorrow as he looked at Molly Su. "Poor girl, your parents died young, and I promised them I'd protect you for a lifetime. But now, I might not even be able to keep you safe."

Victor Su's eyes reddened with emotion, but he quickly steeled himself, took a deep breath, and suddenly radiated fierce determination. "But don't worry, Molly. Even if the Lin family tries to force a marriage, if they can't provide a real cure for your illness, I'll risk the entire Su family to fight them to the bitter end!"

His voice rang out firm and clear—just for a moment, he seemed especially resolute.

"Mr. Su, about that boy we saw at Brightsea Garden Court and Thousand-Saints Mountain, I checked his background like you asked: turns out he's just an ordinary kid. Lives in rural Whitewood County under Brightsea City, with only his mother, who teaches at Whitewood County Elementary School."

Blade, the black-clad bodyguard, hesitated a moment before continuing, "Should we try to find him?"

"The boy you mentioned is stronger than you, maybe even a true prodigy. But even if we brought him here, so what? No matter how gifted he is, he can't possibly stand up to someone from the Southriver Sword Sect." Victor Su shook his head. "At this point, our only hope is still to find Evan 'Nine-Mysteries' Lin, the one shaking all of Seacrest Prefecture."

Victor Su sighed, his face full of worry, then he, Molly Su, and Blade entered Villa No. 3 together.

"Mr. Kong, where did you just go? You look like you ran into something good."

Derek Zhang saw that Neil Kong and Sharon Chen, who'd just been flustered and upset, returned looking refreshed and pleased after stepping out. He relaxed a little but grew curious.

As soon as he spoke, everyone turned to look.

Neil Kong and Sharon Chen were both smiling, their eyes brimming with pride and joy.

"Oh, it was nothing. We just ran into Mr. Su, so Sharon and I went to say hello. Honestly, I didn't expect Mr. Su to still remember us—it's really something." Neil Kong smiled, glancing at Joy Zheng and Lucy Lu as he spoke.

"Mr. Su? Which Mr. Su?" Sharon Xiao and Stella Cui both blinked, and the others looked just as confused.

Most of them lived in Seacrest Prefecture, so the only big names they could remember were people like Sawyer Summer. But when it came to the Su surname, they didn't know much.

"Mr. Su... you don't mean the one from Jinnan, do you?"

A middle-aged man in a suit, who'd looked puzzled at first, suddenly seemed to realize something. His face went pale, and even his voice shook a little.

This man was based in Jinnan, and as soon as he spoke up, Derek Zhang couldn't help blurting out, "You mean the chairman of Su International Group, head of the Su family—the guy who once spent tens of billions just to import fresh fruit and milk for his granddaughter? That Mr. Su?!"

Derek Zhang and the other man's words instantly stirred up the crowd, leaving everyone shocked.

Even if they didn't get all the details, they understood the numbers—spending tens of billions just for his granddaughter's snacks? That was some next-level wealth!

"That's right—it's him, Mr. Victor Su from Jinnan." Sharon Chen smiled lightly, sounding almost casual.

"Oh my god! I can't believe you actually know Mr. Su! He's probably even more impressive than our boss Sawyer Summer!" Derek Zhang exclaimed, and a bunch of people crowded around Neil Kong and Sharon Chen, eager to flatter them.

"Lucy, I heard Mr. Su is close friends with Wayne Wang, the boss of Wansheng Real Estate. When Wayne sees Mr. Su, he calls him 'senior.' And isn't your husband Charles Chen a manager at the Brightsea branch of Wansheng? Maybe you should ask our class monitor to introduce you to Mr. Su—if he puts in a good word, your husband could get promoted!" Sharon Xiao smiled playfully at Lucy Lu.

"Yeah, Lucy, just ask our class monitor. Neil Kong's always been the helpful type. If you can't bring yourself to do it, you can have Joy Zheng help you out instead." Stella Cui quickly chimed in.

All kinds of looks turned toward Lucy Lu and Joy Zheng.

Right then, Ryan Chen suddenly spoke up, his eyes cold and a bit angry. "That's right, Aunties. My parents are easy to talk to—if you can't swallow your pride, you can have your son or daughter do it for you!"
