Chapter 419 Underground

Seventeenth Abyss, domain of desolation, ruled by the Wasteland Lord Gallax...

This time, it's the real deal.

The Wasteland Lord hails from the Mythic Dynasty—a terrifying existence who once walked the earth alongside ancient gods and demons. His power is so great, it surpasses even the Sky Rank.

And now, the Wasteland Lord has appeared in Skyline Gorge!

Even if this isn't his true body—just a projection or an incarnation of his power—he's still far beyond what Leon and the others can handle...

In this era, the name Gallax is still unknown, but the reputation of the Wasteland Lord of the Seventeenth Abyss has already spread throughout the entire Northend World.

Among all those abyssal demons, the Wasteland Lord's battle prowess is second to none. Many Sky Rank humans have fallen at his hands.

A thick stench of sulfur fills the entire Skyline Gorge. That's the scent of the Abyss...

Boom!

Gallax stomped heavily on the canyon floor. In that instant, the entire earth seemed to tremble in fear. With a deafening boom, the flat ground split open, revealing a massive, bottomless chasm. As Gallax shifted his stance, the fissure widened, and at a glance, it looked utterly terrifying.

Countless pale flames of Decay drifted down from above...

Three powerful beasts within the Beast Tide howled and roared desperately, as if the appearance of Wasteland Lord Gallax had filled them with endless terror. Countless monsters fled, trampling the ground of Skyline Gorge. For a moment, it seemed as if the entire gorge was trembling with them...

A pitch-black giant hand swept down with overwhelming force. The beast, a level thirty-eight monster that had ruled as a king, tried to flee in terror, unable to resist at all. The hand seized it and smashed it against the cliff face with a thunderous crash. Under that terrifying power, the level thirty-eight beast was already dying. Grayfire silently descended, burning away its soul...

A level thirty-eight beast, so powerful, was reduced to an ant before the Wasteland Lord. With a single blow, it was utterly obliterated. Such power was simply terrifying...

The other two level thirty-seven beasts fared no better. Two massive hands formed of ashen flame gripped them tightly, their roars echoing in agony. In mere seconds, their souls were completely erased.

The Wasteland Lord stood motionless, radiating a chilling, terrifying aura. Suddenly, he slowly raised his head, and a pair of demonic eyes gazed skyward. The sky was a clear, endless blue—at first glance, nothing but clouds drifting by...

But many knew that a human mage was hidden in midair—Councilor Weiss...

Though Weiss was powerful, using a wind elemental avatar to conceal himself, who was the Wasteland Lord? A being who had lived through the Mythic Dynasty, one of the top demons of the Abyss. With just a glance, he saw through all of Weiss's tricks...

"Damn it!"

Weiss, like everyone else, was shaken by the Wasteland Lord's power. Lost in the shock, he suddenly sensed a wave of extreme danger. Then, he saw the Wasteland Lord's gaze shift toward him. The moment their eyes met, Weiss was startled—the demon's eyes seemed to pierce the soul, as if all his secrets were laid bare before them...

He cursed harshly, his mind in turmoil. Just moments ago, he had witnessed the Wasteland Lord's methods—three beasts, all above level thirty-seven, were destroyed without resistance...

Faced with such power, he had no choice but to run—as far and as fast as he could.

Fortunately... fortunately, he was a master of wind magic. In all of Auckland, few could match his command of wind's laws...

Weiss reacted instantly. Almost as soon as the Wasteland Lord looked up, Weiss became a gust of wind, crossing a thousand meters in a heartbeat...

But the Wasteland Lord was just as fast. Weiss's speed, though extreme, was nothing special before him. In a flash, countless Decay flames shot into the sky, chasing after Weiss even faster than the wind!

"Hell!" Weiss cursed aloud.

It was terrifying...

A being like the Wasteland Lord was utterly beyond Weiss's ability to resist. And those Decay flames—from the Seventeenth Abyss—could even burn a soul to ash with the slightest touch. Even if Weiss had a hundred times the courage, he would never face that power head-on. The Black Tower councilor, in an almost impossible situation, managed to push his speed another thirty percent, barely keeping a safe distance from the chasing flames.

Of everyone present, Leon was closest to the Wasteland Lord. The four or five Burst Spells exploded beside him before he even had time to react. He never expected that old fox Weiss would pull a stunt like this!

Leon cursed out loud. He had more than a dozen protective spells fixed on himself. The five Burst Spells were powerful, but not enough to injure him. Still, Leon realized that Weiss's true intention was to blast him right toward the Wasteland Lord...

Then Leon felt his body completely out of control, flying straight toward the Wasteland Lord...

For a moment, Leon cursed Weiss and his ancestors eighteen generations back...

Fortunately, Leon reacted quickly enough. As he was flung through the air, he activated his Fire Elemental Avatar and then used a Flame Blink to narrowly dodge a falling Decay flame, darting toward a spot a hundred meters to the side of the Wasteland Lord...

But at that moment, Leon seemed oblivious to his own suicidal actions. After a Flame Blink, he even cast an Acceleration spell, speeding up his own rush toward danger...

Because at that moment, only Leon could see it...

Leon could even sense a faint magical fluctuation through the crack...

Leon knew this was his only option. If he stayed on the battlefield, his situation would be dire. Those three powerful beasts had been killed in an instant—what chance did he have?

Leon also noticed that the Wasteland Lord always targeted the strongest—first the level thirty-eight beast, then the two level thirty-sevens, then Weiss...

After Weiss, it would probably be his turn...

So, in desperation, he broke away from the battlefield and dove into the huge fissure.

In an instant, all Leon could hear was the howling wind. The fissure was bottomless—he kept falling for over ten seconds, his body still in freefall.

It felt just like plunging off a thousand-meter cliff.

Suddenly, Leon's heart skipped a beat. He tried to use Levitation to steady himself and check for danger below—if there was none, great; if there was, he'd be ready. But as he cast the spell, he clearly felt the magical elements around him were in chaos. Levitation was heavily disrupted, barely slowing his descent.

Leon crashed to the ground, dazed and battered, his chest aching as if struck by a hammer.

That was with Levitation slowing his fall and more than a dozen protective spells active. Without them, he was sure he would've died from the impact...

Luckily, he landed on flat ground that seemed safe. He moved painfully, feeling a surge of agony that made him frown. Leon fished several potions from his pocket, gulped them down, and rested for over ten minutes. The pain eased enough for him to stand, though every movement still sent sharp pain through his body.

He rummaged through his pockets and pulled out a pile of alchemical potions, inspecting each in turn. Disappointed, he found no Regeneration Potion among them. His injuries were severe—ordinary healing potions were useless. The ones he'd just taken only healed surface wounds...
