Audience with the Guardian Drake Lord
This time, we came specifically to request an audience. The Guardian Drake Lord agreed to meet us.
Drake Abyss is home to all sorts of divine clans.
Among them, the Divine Dragon Clan has ruled the Three Realms and Ten Wilds for generations as the imperial family.
There are also four major dragon clans: Azure Dragon Clan, Guardian Drake Clan, Drake Ancestral Clan, and River Drake Clan, which form the backbone of Drake Abyss.
Of the four, the Azure Dragon Clan and Guardian Drake Clan are the strongest, their power nearly equal.
The chief of the Guardian Drake Clan holds the title of Guardian Drake Lord.
The current Guardian Drake Lord, Gavin Zhu, is the legitimate grandson of Ian Zhu and Jade Phoenix.
He keeps a low profile and rarely appears in public.
But his cultivation is said to be the strongest beneath the Celestial Emperor.
Combined with his strict and modest style, he commands even greater respect.
Lily Bai and Nine Li followed Lord Faustin to the Guardian Drake Lord, then knelt to pay their respects.
"Please, rise quickly!" said the Guardian Drake Lord.
Lily Bai didn’t dare look up at first, but his voice actually sounded pretty sincere.
He wasn’t arrogant or dismissive like many gods.
Lord Faustin helped the two of them stand.
Only then did Lily Bai dare to look at the Guardian Drake Lord.
Hmm... He was pretty much as she’d imagined.
His eyes were deep, his features imposing.
He glanced over Lily Bai and Nine Li.
Then his gaze suddenly shifted, fixing intently on Lily Bai’s face.
Lily Bai guessed he must think she looked a lot like Lucy Luan.
She gave the Guardian Drake Lord a faint smile but didn’t say anything.
The Guardian Drake Lord looked away and said, "Please, have a seat."
The three of them sat down, and the Azure Dragon Lord asked, "Who are these two?"
"Her name is Lily Bai. She’s my chief disciple and the Sigil Sect Young Master," said Lord Faustin. "This one is my son, Nine Li, also a Rune Master."
The Azure Dragon Lord glanced at Lily Bai again and said, "Lord Faustin, it’s been a while. You don’t look well."
Before coming to Drake Abyss, he’d spent ages putting on makeup—pale face, blue lips, and huge dark circles under his eyes.
"Ugh! Don’t even mention it!" Lord Faustin said, rubbing his temples. "Last time, Young Master Drake forced me into the Wildlands Tribulation Storm Array and I got zapped by tribulation lightning."
The Guardian Drake Lord frowned. "That’s no small matter. You need proper treatment! Did you see a Spiritual Alchemist?"
"I did. They said I can’t use any spiritual power for a hundred years, or my golden core will collapse and I’ll die."
"So... you're not here just to celebrate my son's birthday, are you?" the Guardian Drake Lord asked.
"I’ve come to seek an audience with Your Lordship because I have something to ask," said Lord Faustin, rising and bowing.
The Guardian Drake Lord replied, "No need for such ceremony. Just speak your mind."
"A month ago, Young Master Drake sent eleven of my inner disciples at immortal level or above into the Tribulation Storm Array. They were scattered inside, and so far only Lily Bai and Nine Li have made it out." Lord Faustin looked utterly heartbroken. "All my Sigil Sect’s elite disciples have been wiped out!"
"That’s truly a terrible loss," said the Guardian Drake Lord, shaking his head. "Across the Three Realms and Ten Wilds, it’s rare to find even one in a million with real Rune Master talent. To lose so many elite disciples at once..."
"Exactly! And even so, I doubt Young Master Drake will stop," said Lord Faustin. "If this keeps up, my Sigil Sect may be wiped out for good!"
"So you’ve come hoping I’ll speak to the Divine Empress and ask her not to send your Sigil Sect into this again?"
"Exactly!" Lord Faustin bowed deeply. "That Wildlands Tribulation Storm Array is a place where not even gods or ghosts can enter. Our mortal cultivations are far too weak to break it—we’re only being sent to die!"
