As Excited As Seeing Dad
"Your Highness!" Princess Luminia knelt before him. "For the sake of that time I saved Your Highness, please spare me just this once!"
Evan Xiao raised his sword with a cold expression and thrust it toward her soul.
"This is the Chaos Pearl!" Princess Luminia raised both hands, her voice urgent. "Although Drake Abyss has kept it secret, we all know the Celestial Emperor is gravely wounded and hasn't recovered for years! This Chaos Pearl can heal him!"
Evan Xiao's sword paused for a moment.
In Princess Luminia's hand was a blue-green glowing pearl.
"This is the Scarlet Clan's greatest treasure. Why do you have it?" Evan Xiao asked.
"My mother entrusted it to me for safekeeping," Luminia replied.
"If you offer the Scarlet Clan's treasure to Drake Abyss, how will you answer to the Phoenix Lord?"
"I have my own way to explain. I only ask that Your Highness take this pearl and spare my life!"
Without hesitation, Evan Xiao took the Chaos Pearl and sheathed the Sword of Tai'a.
Princess Luminia let out a sigh of relief, bowed to Evan Xiao, and then turned into a streak of red light, fleeing the scene.
"Wow! What kind of treasure is this? It looks so pretty..." Grace reached out a finger to poke at the Chaos Pearl.
Evan Xiao slapped her hand away and put the Chaos Pearl away, his tone harsh: "What are you doing here?"
His glare was so fierce it looked like he might eat her alive.
Grace shrank back and protested, "I didn't come here on my own! A giant Flying Demon Drake kidnapped us and brought us here!"
"And who brought you to Elderworld? With your measly cultivation, you actually dare to come here?"
"I... I just wanted to see Louis Lin and Steward Qin..."
"When we get back, I'll issue a ban forbidding you from leaving Drake Abyss," Evan Xiao said coldly, grabbing her arm to leave.
"Wait!" Grace shouted. "We still don't know where Benny is! We have to go find him."
"Why is he running off again?"
"You don't know—after it ate the Flying Demon Drake's Soul Core, it suddenly grew huge and can even fly now..."
Evan Xiao took a deep breath and flew into the sky with her, searching everywhere for Benny.
It didn't take long before they spotted him just a dozen miles away.
He was so big now, it was impossible to miss him.
Evan Xiao called out to him mid-air, and Benny joyfully shot up, flying toward them and stopping right in front of them.
Evan Xiao put Grace on Benny's back, pointed out a direction, and said, "Let's go!"
Benny was as excited as if he'd seen his dad, letting out a loud, screechy "GAA!" and shot off like an arrow in the direction Evan Xiao pointed.
After flying for a while, he realized something was wrong.
He looked back at his own back—no one was there.
Then he saw his mom, falling freely through the air behind him.
Turns out Benny took off way too fast and flung her right off...
Luckily, Evan Xiao swooped over and caught her, landing safely on the ground.
Benny realized he'd overdone it again. He landed, trembling like a guilty child, wings tucked, tail curled, giving Grace an apologetic look.
Evan Xiao suddenly let out a laugh.
"Is it funny?" Grace shot Evan Xiao a look.
Evan Xiao said, "It's very funny."
Grace bit her lip, feeling a little annoyed.
Evan Xiao walked over to Benny and said something to him.
Benny nodded and shot up into the sky.
At the same time, Evan Xiao transformed into a dragon and flew up with him.
Grace guessed he was teaching Benny how to carry passengers while flying.
Sure enough, after a while, Evan Xiao turned back into human form, riding Benny as they flew down.
Then he called her up.
This time, when they took off again, there wasn't a hint of wind.
