I Am Not a Husband-Killer
Evan Xiao had been sitting behind Grace at first.
Grace had to twist her neck just to talk to him, which was honestly a bit of a pain.
So she just went ahead and invited him into her Sanctum.
"Come with me, I've got something to show you!" Grace grabbed his hand and dragged him toward the Sanctum Tower.
When they got to the door, Evan Xiao suddenly stopped and stared at his feet.
Grace followed his gaze and saw... the Soulbane Vine she'd transplanted by the Sanctum Tower entrance was bending its tiny body, reaching for Evan Xiao's foot.
Evan Xiao frowned, and out of nowhere, the Chun Jun Sword appeared in his hand. He swung it at the grass, no hesitation.
The little grass freaked out, yanked itself away, and buried its head in the dirt.
"Hey! What are you doing?" Grace blurted out.
"What kind of magical creature is that? You actually planted it at the entrance?" Evan Xiao asked, frowning.
Just now, it actually tried to suck away his divine power.
"It's not some monster!" Grace explained the Soulbane Vine's origins to him. "I want it to grow up and help guard my place! Don't hurt it!"
Evan Xiao glanced at the Soulbane Vine burrowing into the dirt, then put away his sword.
"So, listen, when I went with the Immortal to Eastmount to get that Stone Essence, this giant Flying Demon Drake suddenly showed up and just swallowed us whole..." Grace chattered on, telling him all about her wild adventures from the past couple of days.
"...I found this mirror in an abandoned Hidden Manor. Luminia said it's called the 'Celestial Mirror.' Take a look—what does it do?" Grace handed the mirror to him.
Evan Xiao took it and examined it. "The Dragon Ancestor was a master craftsman. He had a son and a daughter. The Mirror of Truth at the entrance to Drake Abyss was made for his son. But his daughter wanted one too, so he made her the Celestial Mirror. To be fair, the Celestial Mirror has all the same functions as the Mirror of Truth, except it's designed to look like a fancy hand mirror for his daughter."
"So it's just like the Mirror of Truth... Does that mean it can reveal anyone's true form?" Grace asked.
Evan Xiao nodded. "And it can also record whatever happens for a certain period of time."
Grace saw him turning the Celestial Mirror over and over, looking totally smitten with it, so she snatched it from his hands and hid it behind her back. "So, are you saying the Celestial Mirror actually belongs to Drake Abyss?"
"No, later on, the Dragon Ancestor's daughter married into the Phoenix Clan, so the Celestial Mirror was part of her dowry and became a Phoenix Clan treasure."
"Oh, I see..." Grace nodded. "Since I'm the Phoenix Maiden's daughter, that makes me part of the Phoenix Clan. So from now on, this Celestial Mirror is mine. Crown Prince Evan Xiao, you don't mind, right?"
"Am I fighting you for it?" Evan Xiao replied.
"Haha! What kind of person is Crown Prince Evan Xiao? Noble, charming—everyone loves you! How could you ever be like Princess Luminia, always trying to snatch things from people?" Grace grinned at him. "That's why you're my favorite, Your Highness!"
Evan Xiao's face darkened. "You really are hard to kill! Survived all that and even got the Celestial Mirror."
"Yeah... I guess I am. But don't worry, I'm not cursed. If anything, I'm lucky for my husband!" Grace winked.
Evan Xiao: "..."
Grinning, Grace looked at the ancient artifact in her hand, then suddenly aimed it at Evan Xiao. "Come on, let me take a look at you! Let's see the real Crown Prince of the Dragon Clan!"
