We Are Not the Same Kind

When Joe Di entered the void vortex, he was already prepared to be trapped inside for thousands of years, or even longer.

To Joe Di's surprise, as soon as he entered, he immediately felt a powerful pulling force, and in the next moment, he lost control of his body and was thrown out.

Joe Di's first instinct was to enter the Ninth World, but he quickly discovered he couldn't access it, nor could he extend his spiritual sense. This wasn't the first time Joe Di had encountered such a situation, so he remained calm. With the strength of his physical body, there were very few void forces capable of tearing him apart.

Bang! In just a short moment, Joe Di was thrown to the ground, smashing a giant pit into the hard earth.

This was similar to a natural teleportation array, but Joe Di knew it wasn't one. It was most likely a plane fissure. The plane fissure formed by this void vortex was completely different from the ones he had encountered before.

Soon, Joe Di realized that the thing he feared most had happened. The rules of heaven and earth in this place were unlike anything he had ever seen, completely different from the cosmic rules he was familiar with.

Here, his God Origin and spiritual sense were directly restrained, leaving him unable to move at all. Not only that, he couldn't even communicate with his own spiritual sea or the Ninth World.

Panic lasted only a moment before Joe Di calmed down. He was different from other cultivators—if they encountered this situation, they'd likely be resigned to their fate, unable to leave this place for the rest of their lives.

Joe Di cultivated the Path of Rules. Most importantly, his Path of Rules did not depend on spiritual sense or his spiritual sea. It was rooted in his consciousness. As long as his consciousness remained, he could reconstruct rules to adapt to this world's laws and gradually regain his spiritual sense and God Origin.

Bang! Just as Joe Di was sorting out his thoughts, another loud bang sounded not far from him.

Instead, Joe Di stopped. He knew exactly who had fallen in this time—it was that self-righteous woman.

Previously, when everyone still had their powers and techniques, Joe Di had been wary of her. But now, he truly had nothing to fear from this woman.

Compared to Joe Di, Cassie Cao's physical body was clearly not as tough. As she struggled to get up from the ground, her body was covered in wounds from the void's tearing force. Fortunately, this was only a plane fissure—there was no spatial distortion or complete rending, and her clothes remained intact.

Cassie Cao wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and looked at Joe Di, who was standing not far away, staring at her. "Why aren't you running anymore? Since you're not running, then let's leave together."

Joe Di crossed his arms and said coolly, "Do you think I need to run? Could you even pluck a single hair from me, or move a toe?"

Joe Di didn't need to explain; Cassie Cao already understood. Her face paled. Her powers and techniques had vanished as well. Clearly, the tables had turned. Previously, Joe Di was her prey, but now she was at his mercy.

Cassie Cao's temperament was clearly extraordinary. She quickly grasped her predicament and her tone grew calm. "Joe Di, your talent and cultivation are remarkable, and your escape technique is unlike anything I've ever seen. If I'm not mistaken, you must have used cosmic rules to escape. Even that person from years ago might not have possessed such a technique. Maybe you've had some fortuitous encounters, but I have to admit, you're a genius."

Joe Di chuckled. "I know I'm outstanding; I don't need your praise."

Cassie Cao sighed. "If you could walk the righteous path and refrain from killing, perhaps one day you could comprehend the Dao beyond the Dao."

Joe Di waved his hand. "You don't need to lecture me about the Grand Way. I know my own path and don't need your guidance. I just have two warnings for you. First, stop being so self-righteous. I'm not the Poison Sovereign you keep mentioning, though he is my friend. He destroyed the Bay of Legends, which helped me out, so if you want to settle accounts, coming to me isn't wrong."

But before you seek revenge for the Bay of Legends, you should understand that over the years, the Bay of Legends has destroyed countless life planets and killed innumerable cultivators. If you avenge the Bay of Legends, you become an accomplice to evil—a butcher just the same...

"Friend Di, when will vengeance ever end? I never intended to kill you—only to take you away and temper your murderous nature. If everyone sought revenge for every slight, the universe would be filled with slaughter and bloodshed. Where would there be peace? Where would there be sanctuary?" Cassie Cao clearly disagreed with Joe Di's words.

Joe Di laughed heartily. "That reminds me of a story from my hometown. There were two men, one named Han Shan and the other Shi De. One day Han Shan asked Shi De: 'If someone slanders me, bullies me, insults me, mocks me, looks down on me, despises me, hates me, or deceives me, what should I do?'"

Cassie Cao was surprised that Joe Di could say such a thing. She asked curiously, "So how did Shi De reply?"

Joe Di answered, "Shi De replied, 'You might as well endure him, yield to him, let him be, avoid him, be patient with him, respect him, ignore him, and after a few years, just see what becomes of him.'"

Cassie Cao clapped her hands. "Shi De was truly wise; I should learn from him. What a great answer! Friend Di, with such a sage in your hometown and knowing his wisdom, why haven't you learned any of it?"

Joe Di sneered, "If I had learned it, I'd already be in the cycle of reincarnation—no, I wouldn't even have the chance to reincarnate. My patience, tolerance, and respect are reserved for those who deserve them. As for the Bay of Legends, I only want to fight, destroy, and annihilate it. That's all."

Cassie Cao frowned, clearly uncomfortable with the intensity of Joe Di's words.

Joe Di couldn't be bothered to argue with Cassie Cao any further and turned to leave. Though she'd chased him for years, he felt only mild discomfort. Cassie Cao wasn't a wicked woman—just too rigid in her principles.

It wasn't until Joe Di had walked far ahead that Cassie Cao snapped out of her daze and hurried after him. "Friend Di, wait a moment..."

"What is it now? Have you fallen for me and want to be my lifelong companion?" Joe Di, having been chased for over a century, couldn't help but feel a bit resentful toward this woman, so a sarcastic remark slipped out.

Cassie Cao replied calmly, "If you want me to do such things, then just kill me, or I'll end myself."

"Not interested," Joe Di said, turning to leave again.

Cassie Cao called after him, "Friend Di, now that neither of us can use our techniques, you could easily subdue me. Why don't you do it, or even kill me to eliminate future trouble?"

Joe Di burst out laughing and turned to Cassie Cao. "That's your way of doing things. You're one of those lofty, untouchable women who, when powerful, make it your mission to purify the universe with your own strength. Anyone weaker than you, you crush them and impose your will.

I, Joe Di, have my own code. I fight and kill, and sometimes I have a bit of a violent streak, but it's all for the sake of those close to me, and to pursue things I like. Now that I'm stronger than you, I don't have to do things your way—I don't have to subdue you and make you follow my orders without reason or resistance."

At this, Joe Di looked Cassie Cao in the eye. "In short, we're not the same kind of people."

Cassie Cao fell silent. After a while, she suddenly asked, "Didn't you say you had two warnings for me? What's the second one?"

"I don't really want to say the second one. Can you just stop following me now?" Joe Di chuckled and walked off again.

Cassie Cao seemed not to understand Joe Di's meaning and continued after him. "Friend Di, do you think I was wrong to hunt you? Or do you think planets ruled by families like the Bay of Legends should be destroyed?"

Joe Di looked at Cassie Cao helplessly. "Then let me tell you another story from my hometown."
