Hatred as Deep as the Sea 4

A burst of ragged breathing—Sebastian Zhao had already departed. Joseph Qiao, gripping a white longsword, now stood before Wraithshade. After suffering a previous barrage of arrows, the ghosts clinging to Wraithshade perished en masse in an instant.

"If you're thinking of resting now, it's far too early."

Yuna Ji barked sharply. With a swish, Joseph Qiao raised his longsword and slashed at Wraithshade. Wraithshade gripped his long awl, crossing it to block the sword, but his eyes widened as, with another swish, his left shoulder and arm were sliced clean off.

"Looks like your ghosts are dying even faster this way."

Yuna Ji muttered, turned, and returned to the throne. She sat down, yawned, and then narrowed her eyes.

"You all carry on, I'm going to rest for a bit."

With nowhere left to retreat, Wraithshade began to fight back. Joseph Qiao’s sword, though not as quick or precise as Sebastian Zhao’s daggers, struck true each time, inflicting damage upon Wraithshade.

Gradually, Wraithshade, having adapted, began fighting while retreating. He managed to parry several of Joseph Qiao’s strikes, but suddenly, as Joseph Qiao finished a slash, he abruptly leapt back.

A fresh volley of arrows rained down on Wraithshade. He swung his arms desperately, but was still struck by countless arrows. After the barrage, Joseph Qiao charged at Wraithshade.

With another swish, this time Joseph Qiao sliced off Wraithshade’s head. Wraithshade quickly reassembled his body, spun around, and floated upward as another wave of arrows shot toward him.

Wraithshade began to flee, his fighting spirit completely dissipated. I saw terror in his eyes—a look I had never seen before.

Tan Tian and I sat atop the Bone Wall. Beside each of us loomed a gigantic Bone Behemoth—one every five meters or so. These colossal bone monsters radiated an astonishing Bone Spirit Essence.

After enduring several more rounds of arrows, a mass of Skyhawk Cavalry surged after us. But when they drew within five or six hundred meters of the wall, they began to turn back.

"Move! Out of my way!"

Wraithshade roared. Instantly, hordes of red ghosts erupted around him, swarming and flying in a mass toward the top of the Bone Wall.

The bone monsters atop the wall began to stir. With thunderous roars, beams of green light shot from their mouths and eyes.

A series of explosive booms rang out. Wraithshade's form became round as he helplessly drifted downward, all the ghosts he had released turning to ash.

With a thud, Wraithshade crashed to the ground. He struggled to rise as the earth rumbled and cavalry charged in, loosing arrows with deadly precision. The shafts pinned his back, and he howled in agony, like a beast driven to the brink.

"Open it, hurry up and open it!"

Wraithshade bellowed in fury, pounding on the bone wall with both hands. He had already tried to break through with force, but the wall did not budge. I quietly observed—the wall was at least a hundred meters thick. This Bone Spirit Essence wall was nearly impossible to penetrate, its density immense, a special bone born from the fusion of soul and bone.
