Breaking the Rules

"Deputy Commander Su, how are your two men holding up? I personally instructed the hospital director to give them the absolute best treatment—make sure their injuries get the finest care! If they need anything, just say the word!" Colonel Sean Chen strode in, radiating authority.

His voice was strong and clear, and he sounded like he was in a great mood.

Two people followed at his side.

One was Hawkeye Harry Shen, his face unreadable; the other was Tiger Fang, exuding raw arrogance and predatory swagger.

The two flanked Colonel Sean Chen, their presence practically crackling with menace.

"Colonel Chen, how thoughtful of you to come despite your busy schedule." The doctor nearby greeted Colonel Sean Chen with a flattering smile as he approached.

Lately, Colonel Sean Chen has been in the limelight. He's the most likely candidate in the Jinnan Military District to be promoted to the general's circle, so naturally, plenty of people are trying to get close to him.

The power of a family with a major general is enormous.

"That's right. After all, my own men failed to control their strength and accidentally injured your guys. Sigh, that's exactly why I brought them all here today—specifically to apologize to Deputy Commander Su!"

After speaking, Colonel Sean Chen glanced at the two men beside him.

Hawkeye bowed his head slightly. "Sorry."

Tiger Fang grinned, "Sorry about that. I thought they were tough, so I didn't hold back and used half my strength. That's why they're laid up in bed, can't even crawl. Really, my apologies, Deputy Commander Su."

Tiger Fang's tone was playful.

Eldest Brother Su's face went stone cold.

"You!" Blade's eyes flashed with killing intent, but Eldest Brother Su reached out to stop him.

He looked at Colonel Sean Chen and gave a cold laugh. "So I should be grateful for your thoughtfulness, that you still remember my two brothers lying in hospital beds?"

"Colonel Sean Chen, I appreciate your kindness! Please leave!"

Eldest Brother Su was telling him to get out.

Winners take all, losers get nothing—it's always been that way.

The defeat in the regimental exercise was simply because Flying Eagle Company was truly strong. In the past, even when Eldest Brother Su lost, he'd be frustrated but could still accept it openly.

But this time, Eldest Brother Su felt stifled inside.

They had completely ruined the future of two outstanding soldiers!

Even for a regimental exercise, this was an extremely heavy price to pay!

If Eldest Brother Su had known things would turn out like this, he would have given up on the exercise without a second thought.

"Come on now, Old Su, if you talk like that, it sounds like you're still upset." Colonel Sean Chen chuckled. "You know, these team exercises are always risky. If someone isn't skilled enough or tries to show off, the danger goes way up, so accidents are only natural."

"I hope you can see this for what it is. Flying Eagle Company wasn't targeting your Knife-Edge Company. Besides, I heard your guys even brought in some second-rate instructor for special training before the exercise, and boosted their strength a lot, didn't they?"

Colonel Sean Chen spoke with mockery, wearing the smile of a victor.

"That's enough! Our instructor's strength is way beyond what you could imagine! He's top-tier!" At Colonel Sean Chen's words—

Third Blade, standing behind Eldest Brother Su, looked furious.

Bang!

But before he could finish, Tiger Fang stepped forward and, with a crisp punch, sent Third Blade sprawling to the ground.

"When your superiors are speaking, you keep your mouth shut! If you don't understand the rules, I'll teach you!" Tiger Fang withdrew his fist, sneering coldly.

Blade was already preparing to make a move.

Fourth Blade and Fifth Blade looked extremely grim.

Colonel Sean Chen was all smiles.

With Hawkeye and Tiger Fang here, he didn't need to lift a finger himself.

"Old Su, I know you care about your men, but there's got to be a limit. Your guys really don't seem to understand the rules." Colonel Sean Chen was clearly siding with Tiger Fang.

Eldest Brother Su's face was ashen.

The doctor, seeing this, suddenly seemed to remember something and said, "Colonel Chen, just now Deputy Commander Su brought in some random teenager to treat those two seriously injured soldiers."

"I said that kid was a fraud—he can't possibly heal those injuries, and might even make things worse. But no one listens to me. I'm genuinely worried about those two soldiers!"

The doctor sounded absolutely certain.

"Is that so? That's really not good. Treating injuries is the hospital's job, Old Su. If you just let some random person try, what if it goes wrong?" Colonel Sean Chen looked at Tiger Fang. "Drag out that guy who might hurt the wounded!"

"You dare!" Eldest Brother Su's face changed drastically. He couldn't hold back any longer and roared in anger.

"Deputy Commander Su, I'm just concerned for your men. No matter what, they're still soldiers of the country, not your private property! I have the right to ensure their safety!" Colonel Sean Chen said sternly. "Go!"

"Yes, sir!" Tiger Fang replied loudly.

He strode straight to the ICU door, reaching out to grab the handle, ready to open it.

He strode right up to the ICU door, hand outstretched to grab the handle and swing it open.

He instinctively let go, just as the door handle moved on its own, and the ICU door was pulled open from the inside.

He instinctively jerked his hand away, just in time to see the handle twitch—and the ICU door swing open from the inside.

Seeing Evan Lin step out, looking a bit tired, Eldest Brother Su and the others tensed up with worry.

Seeing Evan Lin step out, looking a little drained, Eldest Brother Su and his squad tensed up, nerves on edge.

At Evan Lin's words, Eldest Brother Su's face lit up with joy and his eyes sparkled with excitement.

At Evan Lin's words, Eldest Brother Su's face exploded with joy, his eyes blazing with excitement.

When Colonel Sean Chen saw Evan Lin walk out, his expression froze, then he narrowed his eyes. "It's you!"

When Colonel Sean Chen saw Evan Lin step out, his face went rigid, then his eyes narrowed dangerously. "You!"

Colonel Sean Chen's face was uncertain. That day, he was humiliated by Thunderhawk's strike.

"Kid, who the hell do you think you are, mouthing off like that? You got a screw loose, or just want to die?" Tiger Fang glared, cracking his knuckles loud enough to echo down the hall.

He stared fiercely, still brooding over the burning sensation he'd felt when grabbing the door handle.
