Don't Play Tricks Like This

Damien Gray ordered several steamed buns, which were quickly brought to the table. Morgan Shangguan picked one up, sniffed it, and smiled, "Actually, street food tastes pretty good."

The two of them sat at the roadside eating buns, not seeming out of place at all. Still, their striking appearances quickly drew a crowd’s attention, though neither of them cared.

Until someone ran over excitedly and called out, "Miss..."

Morgan Shangguan looked at the excited person, raised her brow slightly, then took another bite of her bun. She glanced at Damien Gray and said, "I don't think I know them."

Damien Gray picked up the bowl of broth from the table and held it to her lips. Only after watching her take a sip did he say, "They’re definitely not calling for me."

"Pfft..." Morgan Shangguan spat out the broth, took the handkerchief Damien Gray handed her and wiped her mouth, then gritted her teeth, "You did that on purpose!"

This fox clearly couldn’t change his nature—if he wasn’t scheming, he’d feel uncomfortable. Now that it was usually just the two of them, all his tricks were aimed at her. Once, he even managed to get her thrown into jail, only to sneak into her cell at midnight to keep her company. She truly didn’t know what to make of him.

"Miss?" The voice now sounded a bit hesitant.

Morgan Shangguan finally looked at the newcomer. She seemed about the same age as Morgan, maybe in her early twenties. Her features were delicate, but her skin was tanned, and her clothes were plain—she looked like an ordinary citizen. After sizing her up, Morgan raised her brow and asked, "Do you know me?"

The young woman began to size her up, then asked hesitantly, "Are you Morgan Shangguan?" She’d heard that the Second Miss had died, so this should be the real Miss—but she wasn’t sure. The face was the same, but the Morgan she knew had never looked so happy. And because she’d always seen things she shouldn’t, she’d grown fearful over time, becoming timid and withdrawn.

Morgan Shangguan nodded. The young woman froze for a moment, then suddenly knelt before her and began to cry, "Miss... Miss..."

After some questioning, Morgan learned that this woman had once served as her attendant. But when Morgan was sent for the marriage alliance, she was dismissed, and Mona Shangguan forced her own maid on Morgan instead.

Because Morgan was out of favor, she only had this one maid by her side. Thankfully, this maid was genuinely loyal, so Morgan treated her as her only family. Many things that neither Minister Magnus Shangguan nor Mona Shangguan knew about, this maid did.

What surprised Morgan was that the original Morgan could also see things that weren’t clean. This made her wonder—since they shared the Shangguan surname, was the original Morgan also deeply connected to the Shangguan Family?

Her arrival had disrupted many things. If she hadn’t appeared, would Minister Magnus Shangguan still have rebelled? Would he have succeeded? And if he did, would the Ghost Kingdom have come into being? The royal surname of the Ghost Kingdom was Shangguan, and its people lived among spirits. According to the maid, Morgan’s talent in this area wasn’t particularly strong—but what if she’d obtained something like the Jade Seal? The Jade Seal was the national treasure of the Ghost Kingdom. But what if the Jade Seal was just a jade seal...

Morgan shook her head. Thinking about all this now seemed pointless.

The young woman was now married. Morgan gave her some silver as thanks for her loyalty in the past—after all, the former Morgan was her previous incarnation, wasn’t she?

Pink bed curtains swayed gently in the breeze. Through the translucent fabric, a breathtaking beauty could be seen lying on the bed. Her fair skin hadn’t grown pale despite a long sleep. At this moment, her long lashes fluttered, her eyes darting about, as if she wanted to open them but couldn’t.

After struggling for a long time, her eyes finally opened. Her face looked confused, but her eyes shimmered with a captivating light, enchanting to the soul.

Quentin Hua sat up, stretched lazily, and felt no discomfort. He sat on the bed, deep in thought, his memories slowly returning. Wasn’t he supposed to be dead? Where was this place?

Unable to figure it out, he decided to go outside and take a look.

"Beauty..."

Quentin Hua found the surroundings familiar—it looked like the Ghost King's Manor! Just as he was thinking this, a soft, sweet voice called out. Looking down, he saw a toddler dash over, hug his leg tightly, and call him "beauty" while smacking her lips.

Quentin Hua chuckled, picked her up, and was about to speak when he felt the soft touch of her lips and the milky scent at his nose, making him freeze on the spot.

The little toddler suckled his lips twice, cupped his face, and giggled, "Beauty... eat lips..."

Quentin Hua’s mouth twitched—whose child was this, so flirtatious at such a young age! She looked to be only about two years old, didn’t she?

"Three years decides a lifetime—this little one will definitely be a little flirt when she grows up!"

Seeing the toddler about to go after his lips again, Quentin Hua quickly leaned his head back to dodge her attack. Unable to reach him, her lips pouted and tears welled up in her eyes. Quentin Hua hurriedly said, "Don’t cry! I’m not bullying you, don’t cry, okay?"

Worried she might burst into tears, Quentin Hua let down his guard—besides, who would be on guard against a two-year-old? So he didn’t notice his face slowly moving closer to the toddler. Seizing the moment, she grabbed his face and bit his lips, giggling all the while.

Quentin Hua was exasperated—he’d been taken advantage of by a toddler again and again! Seeing her plump, rosy-cheeked face beaming so brightly, he wondered if she was tricking him on purpose. But then he laughed at himself—she was just a two-year-old, how could she know how to do all this? If she really did, she’d be a little monster!

Quentin Hua pinched her soft little cheek, then reached for her neck, but found nothing there. His expression changed, "Where’s the pendant?" Even though she’d grown a bit, he still recognized her as his little beauty.
